Pretentious Brooklyn meets tiny Manhattan: a lovely combination. The coffee is quite good. The decaf is quite strong -- I wonder if it actually has a good bit of caffeine. Prices are absurd. $3.75 for a small latte, plus 50 cents for iced. Really? Ice displaces a large portion of the coffee, making it cheaper for them to make. Lousy policy. The place is small, but not so small as to be to-go only. Capacity is nine people. There are three small tables, each with two barstools, as well as a window bar with three barstools. The barstools are uncomfortable, because you cant rest your feet, and I dont know why they do them. The staff are nice. The barista actually asked how I was. They keep their menu simple and use Helvetica. Nice alternative to the gaudy Starbucks menu. Most problematically, they dont have a restroom! Caffeine tends to make trips more frequent and urgent, making it particularly unfortunate. I dont generally care enough about coffee to make this excursion worthwhile.

I love this place. Quaint, quiet, and usually not crowded because there isnt Wifi. I like that they use a square reader for check-out, so I always get a text messaged receipt. Saving the environment, one iced chai latte at a time. The employees are always friendly, the menu isnt a comprehensive Starbucks-esque coffee house, and there is a shelf on the left when you walk in that functions as a stand-alone book exchange for locals. Its very cool to get a coffee and a new book every week. Im a regular - and use my punch card to get free drinks often. Make sure you ask for one next time you are there!

My wife, friends, and I did a coffee crawl within just a few blocks of Birch Coffee, making this location our very first stop. We later went onto Bluestone Lane Collective Cafe. Two of us preferred our coffees there and myself and my Delaware friend preferred our lattes from Birch Coffee. This location of Birch Coffee also has a few seats to enjoy your coffee and several pastries including doughnuts from Brooklyns Dough. They also have a little library where you can borrow a good book as you sit and enjoy really quality coffee.

In a neighborhood with a lot of hip coffeeshop competition, Birch seems like the place that takes the actual coffee the most seriously. I mean, there are coffee nerds, and then theres places like this. They seem to know a lot of their customers by name, but they treat the non-regulars with a certain polite reserve, which gives the place a kind of cliquish feel. Still, you cant argue with the quality of the coffee (the growlers of cold brew sound particularly enticing, but so far, Ive only bought it by the cup!)

Birch risks feeling pretentious with a tiny area and fairly high prices, but the friendly staff makes it feel more human. There are only three small tables inside and some room at the bar, but not restroom. The coffee is solid, about what youd get at Stumptown, not as good as Blue Bottle. The water jug inside is nice though as I tend to get dehydrated with coffee pretty easily.

The coffee is really good quality and all their pastries are fresh and delivered from various local bakeries in NY. Their croissants are from Balthazar which definitely means theyre bound to be good! Great place to stop for a quick coffee and snack.

Perfectly pulled soy latte. Prices average for village. Nice staff. Small location; you may be waiting 10 minutes if it is the morning. But it is not uncommon to get in and out in under five. Not bad for real barista work.

Not the best pastry selection but a good quaint spot to have coffee and chat. Its very small with only 3 tables so depending on the time it might be hard to sit down. Staff is very friendly.

I was obsessed with a drink recommended by a random girl I met - toasted almond tea with hemp milk. Its weirdly pink (though not of the Peptobismol vom-inducing color) and tastes amazing

Birch has notoriously good coffee but this specific location is not conducive to studying/surfing the net/being on your laptop. Theres only a table or two and no outlets.

Kyoto drip cold brew is worth a trip on its own, but all coffee and espresso drinks here are top notch. Small selection of well made pastries. Seating is limited.

Best coffee chain in NYC. I am very picky about good coffee and this is the only chain that offers the real thing. Not many spots to sit available.

Some of the best coffee in the area (try the Kyoto cold brew), but not much seating. Unless you catch it just right, get your brew and get moving.

Great coffee, and they have some Dough doughnuts and other pastries. I got a pour over and the girl did a good job.

space is way too small and always causes a line. Coffee however is excellent. I prefer other birch locations.
