After I placed an order of Bromleys teas with Gillies Coffee shop today for my small boutique in southwest Michigan, I had a delightful surprise: I received a note from the president of Gillies. It was not a generic note, but a personalized note. Mr. Schoenholt had taken the time to look at the facebook page for my shop and commented about it. When one of the products I ordered was unavailable, I actually received a phone call from Olive of the Customer Service Department of Gillies, asking me about a substitution. All this is on the same day I placed the order! This is a refreshing difference from two other vendors I deal with on a regular basis. While I love their products, I sometimes wait nearly a month to receive them. One of the two companies acts like they are doing me a favor to have me as a customer, and not the other way around. So, it was so refreshing to be treated with dignity today by Gillies. When I first ordered the Bromleys tea, I wasnt sure if I would continue to carry it, but people came back into the shop looking for more! They said they had first tried it in Europe and loved it. One British gentleman returned many times for the decaf tea. My son who is not a tea drinker scarfs down the mint tea. I dont even like Darjeeling tea, but the Bromleys variety is fantastic! Gillies is the place to order your Bromleys tea even though it is a coffee shop. Since I am not a coffee drinker, I cant speak for their coffee. I can speak for the way they treat people, however, and that is A+++. Kudos, Gillies!

Donald, Hy, David and the rest of the Gillies Crew, Its been a few years since my first negative post on your page, and I just wanted to let everyone know that Im not proud of the way I went about things. The anonymous personal attacks and embellished stories were a bit much. Multiple years later, I hope we can let bygones be bygones and move on. I felt there was no better way to let you know than to write a positive review as an olive branch (as I cant actually find the old email account that I used to write those original reviews). I have been a Gillies customer for over 30 years. I am constantly sampling new coffee, but my go-to standard for a morning pour-over is Gillies Norwegian Wood Blend. It combines medium & dark roast beans. The resulting flavor is deep & sort of creamy. I purchased their fairly new offering called Bleecker St. Espresso, which i brew later in the day in a prosumer quality machine. This blend, when ground at an ideal setting & tamped properly, produces a nice tart first impression, with a bit of a sweet yet smokey secondary taste. Gillies has always done right by me.

went to river café in DUMBO , and had a great cup of coffee. I had asked who the coffee was from and they said it was a company called gillies- Right here from brooklyn. the coffee was fantastic. I looked them up and called in an order to try at home. The rep Dave was very helpful and he suggested I try the flavored coffee sampler. So far I got through the Pumpkin Spice and the Southern Pecan blends. Both brew very smooth. Im reserving the last star until I try the other three flavors!

I own a bakery/cafe in Pennsylvania and have been a customer for the last three years . We sampled coffee from all over the country and Gillies was by far the best. We have tried a wide variety of whole , ground and flavored coffee and have never been disappointed. Shipping is always fast and their customer service makes you feel as if youre not only a customer but an old friend. Their amazing products have really helped build my coffee business.

The coffee was decent but I could not work with the companys owner Donald. He was curt on the phone and could care less about my account. Probably because I am a small fry for his company. Ive heard hes obnoxious from my SCAA friends but I didnt think he would go so far as to be obnoxious to a customer. Ive since found a new roaster in Florida, which appreciates my business, and I couldnt be happier.

The quality of their product has been excellent and consistent and the customer service is top notch, from owner Don to office manager Ms Guppy. I have been ordering my green beans from Gillies for about 5 years. I recently placed an order and forgot the 15% discount. I was very surprised and impressed to receive an email from the President of Gillies advising me that they noticed I forgot my discount and they were crediting my account the difference. Now THAT is great customer service.

Gillies is the undisputed king of coffee in America. Father teaches son, son teaches his son and so on.The stuff is in their bloodstream and it shows in the product. Just ask one of these guys a question about coffee and watch them light up! What they have built over 4 generations and about 200 years is unique and can never be duplicated!

I dont usually drink coffee but walked into a small coffee place in NYC and they were serving gillies coffee, was actually pretty good, I went to their web site later that day and saw they have a nice selection. i would recommend giving them a try if you like different types of coffee, and its all locally roasted in brooklyn
