If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I worked there in august two years ago when it had just opened. Being 16 almost 17 I was excited for this little diner to be my first waitressing job. I was early every shift and was happy to serve the customers and even FIX THE MISTAKES GEORGE MADE IN THE KITCHEN TO THE CUSTOMERS FOOD. The only time George was remotely pleasant around me was when things just had opened. as weeks went by I noticed less and less people coming in. No matter how much I cleaned the place would be just as grimey if not worse by the end of my shift. The disrespect from the owner George and his Partner in crime (some over weight Italian man) began to spike. a few weeks later Georges wife who obviously was so old and worn, probably shouldnt have been doing the job anyway, replaces me. He literally traded the only good thing out of that restaurant to bring in his crabby old wife who I can assure doesnt know what customer service even means. this place appalls me to pass.

Trust me this place doesnt even deserve a star but I had to put one on here for this to get posted. I went to this place with my son and I was waiting for the rats to come out and start running on the counters. This place is filthy I cant believe they are still open!!! I couldnt even eat what I ordered (veggie omelet and hash browns) and the prices are not reasonable!!! While sitting there a man came in who was clearly not stable and kept moving from table to table until he was right next to me and my son - he smelled so bad he should not have been allowed in the diner! Do yourself a favor and stay out of this place - I am shocked it is still open!

The owner is cruel, mean, harasses and belittle its staff even yells at the customers. I would not give this man a single dollar, I can not wait until they are out of business, him and his clan of goons sell jewelry at the damn diner. The man is angry 24/7 unless hes eating the french fries.

Although the food came quickly, the service was terrible. The waiter barely acknowledged us even though there was only one other table. Booths were very uncomfortable. Diner is not handicapped accessible.

The Phoenix Diner should be removed from the town of merrick and the planet earth. George the owner is the reincarnation of Ike Turner (Diner addition) I hope he turns it around.

I find these reviews very hard to believe. I have breakfast there every Friday and I love it ! George is always pleasant and the food is wonderful.
