The first time I went to Koto I absolutely loved it. Every time I have gone there since it has gotten worse and worse and I leave disappointed. We often go here to celebrate birthdays but with how the last time turned out, we will never go again. I ordered chicken hibachi which at Koto is a much smaller portion than any other hibachi place I have ever been to. They give you soup OR salad and rice OR noodles... Every other hibachi place gives you both for the same price- $18. A combination meal at Koto (chicken and steak/ steak and shrimp/ etc) is $25, where at other places it is only $20. It is extremely pricey for a small amount with average food. Aside from the food... the service is absolutely terrible. When I received my salad there was a large piece of plastic wrap hidden in the dressing. When I approached the hostess and showed her the plastic wrap she apologized and went into the kitchen with my salad... she never returned to me, no one ever came with another salad, and nothing was ever said of it again. I also ordered a scorpion bowl which we always do on birthdays (an $18 dollar drink). When the waiter brought it over, he brought a small one. I kindly told him that I wanted the large one and he immediately accused me saying "Well you didnt tell me!" with which I replied "You did not ask me the size, usually when I order I receive the large," I have never had to specify the size. After this very unpleasant dinner I spoke with the manager. He was aware of the salad incident and when I told him that I was upset because no one brought me another salad or offered me anything, he responded by saying "She asked you if you wanted another one and you said no," which was obviously untrue. When I brought up the waiter being rude about the scorpion bowl, he defended him saying "Oh no, he did not say that." After everything, he offered me a dessert which I did not want. He was able to take $5 off of my check. $5 off of a $50 dollar check for average food, poor portion sizes, and terrible service. I brought 21 people in with me.... We spent well over $500 dollars on food and alcohol and he offered me $5 off.... a 1% discount. This place is a joke. Do yourself a favor and go to Yangs on Route 9. They dont have hibachi tables but much better food and service than Koto. Any place would be better than Koto. Dont waste your time or money.

i eat there once a week... to be honest they are the most expensive... BUT there food is usually pretty good... they got some new cooks in, and as i heard it, fired some really good staff. the owners are BEYOND bad... they actually are running the front desk... and they are RUDE as hell. Up until today i was going there 1 week... today they sent me a handroll that was total wet and soggy. So i tried to send it back... and the owner proceeded to tell me that he was upset with me cause i always pick what chair i want to sit at, lol, and that i prefer to pour my own beer... and that i prefer that handrolls comes out as soon as they are done so they dont get soggy.. WTF! So he said i am too picky he thinks that the soggy rolls are good enough. He said they are too busy to bring food out right away... you look over at the sushi chefs and they are literally standing there and the restaurant is EMPTY!!!!! i guess if they were the only game in town you could deal with it... but they are not. they get the same fish from NYC, they do the same rolls as everywhere else... with the exception of a couple that are so OVERPRICED. By the way they are the MOST EXPENSIVE in the area as far as i know. TRY SAKE IN LATHAM, OR SUSHI THAI IN CLIFTON PARK. Sushi Thai is really excellent and very cheap... anyway this visit upset my wife and i so much that we will not be going back! no reason too... The owner is such a prick it is beyond words....

The food was mediocre at best. I had Hibachi chicken and my husband had a mixture of Lobster, Shrimp and Scallops. While the doneness of our respective dishes was okay, nothing had any flavor. The glaze used for the chicken and vegetables left me wondering what kind of coagulent I was ingesting. The noodles had a slight metallic flavor which is never appetizing. There wasnt anything on my plate that couldnt have done with some more salt--just underseasoned in general. We both ordered sake, and after some confusion over which bottle my husband chose, were satisfied with our selections. Our server was congenial and attentive enough--probably the best part of our meal. Despite arriving an hour before the restaurant was scheduled to close, it was evident that the employees were ready to leave. As we walked to our car, two of the cars we noticed when we pulled in (parked directly in front of the entrance) were half-filled with servers waiting on their coworkers. The manager on duty seemed unapproachable, disinterested and disingenuous in his greeting and farewell. We had arrived at Koto with recommendations from a few of our friends, so to say that we were disappointed would be a huge understatement. With so many other great Asian options in the area, I see no reason to ever return to this restaurant.

WE have gone to Koto twice now, but will not be returning again. The first time we had a reservation at the Hibachi Table for 7;30 . It was 9 p.m. before we sat down for dinner , and another hour before the food was served My husband is a diabetic and eating that late is not good for his sugar. The second time we came and sat down right away { nice} I ordered a dish from the kitchen while everyone else ordered Hibachi style. My food finally came after everyone was given their checks and paid. About halfway into the dinner show i motioned to the waiter that i was missing my meal, Yes no problem it s coming right away. Do you white or brown rice. 20 minutes later nothing.... called the waiter over again... yes its coming.... My meal finally came after everyone else was given their check and paid we made fun of the fact that i was placed on a diet , but i was starving watching everyone else eat. When we called the manager over he blamed me for ordering a meal from the kitchen at the hibachi table, and gave my husband a hard time when we said we arent paying for my meal. The food is really good , the cooks are fun and entertaining , but the management and waitstaff is less than desirable.

They have great sushi, but thats about it. The selection of food is very limited, and boy is it overpriced. I payed 20 dollars for chicken teriyaki and all it came with was a small bowl of watery soup, and a bowl of white rice. So basically I payed 20 dollars for a piece of grilled chicken with what was probably jared teriyaki sauce on it. The service was also terrible considering their prices. I went to dinner with a friend and another friend who went with her boyfriend. We asked for three checks when it came time to pay. One for my friend and I, and one for the couple. We received two checks and since I only had my debit card with just enough money for my meal, we had to have them fix their mistake. This took another 20 minutes and the manager had to come out to explain to us that the computers were incapable of splitting the check twice so they had to do it by hand. Why that took 20 minutes I will never know. For these prices, the service is terrible and the food is definitely sub-par. I get better Asian cuisine from my local Chinese food joint in Gloversville for crying out loud... for half the price and twice the quantity!
