I went to TAKA for the first time with my partner. We were firstly impressed by the decoration that TAKA has and the efforts that the owner put in the quality of this restaurant. While enjoying the delicious food, the owner came to talk with us. He mentioned that he didnt see many Asian at his restaurant :), and after knowing that it was the first time that my partner and me being in Asbury Park, he was so willing to give us information and tips of visiting AP. He gave us recommendations to bars and stores. And when we were leaving, he actually gave us a lift in case we get lost. I was quite impressed and shocked by his kindness and thoughtfulness. We have already knew where we would go to dine when we are back to AP---TAKA. Thank you TAKA!

Ive worked in the service industry for years so my standards are very high. Ive enjoyed all styles of food from different areas. When I looked this place up you had a 4 1/2 star rating so I came here expecting some great! Although the food tasted great my service was from far from that!! My server had no personality. She was very dry and not welcoming at all. I saw one half smile from her. She was definitely a "order taker". She didnt try to interact with us at all. Im from out of town so I probably wont ever return but I defiantly wouldnt recommend eating here if you are looking for a great experience.

The service was excellent and the food was good. I felt that maybe it was a little overpriced for how good the food was but this is a very trendy area now so it may be average pricing. Was very busy when we went (Saturday Night) so make sure you call ahead or you may be stuck trying your luck eating in the bar area, which is also pretty nice. Staff was very kind and courteous though and the food was brought out quickly. I thought the Sushi was probably the best of anything we ordered.

Disappointing. This restaurant used to be a small sushi restaurant with outstanding quality and great specialty rolls. They have massively expanded and now everything has a "corporate" feel to it. The sushi is good but not great. The great unique specialty rolls they used to have are discontinued because they are too time consuming to make. They have also raised their prices considerably. The food is still good but this place is not what it used to be. It is definitely overpriced.

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this restaurant, been there on several occasions, also had take aways too. The standard of food,service, and price has been consistent. The fact that it is also BYOB restaurant is a further bonus, no overpriced beers and wines here. Park on Cookman ave, call in to "LUSH" for some alcohol, walk round to TAKA, fall into a cab back home, great night had by all. Thank you all @ TAKA

best sushi in the area, and their spicy tuna roll was, without a doubt, the best ive ever had. the service was great (we had the same server two visits in a row and he not only remembered us, but treated us like we were old friends.) will definitely be going back. to address previous comments - personally, i did not find taka to be any more expensive than other sit-down sushi restaurants in the area.

Favorite place in the world!!! Best sushi ever!!!! I get the spicy tuna roll and the firecracker roll every time I go!!!!! I expected a bland spicy tuna roll like all of the other restaurants but they gave me something special!! The firecracker roll was also spectacular!! Delicious!!!!!! Dont mind me... Im just a 12 year old kid with good taste. I cant wait to come here again!!!

Holy Sushi Gods! This place is great! The food was delicious from our appetizers to the dessert; the sushi was fresh and the alcohol was different but amazing. Our waiter, Raymond, was prompt and gave us amazing recommendations. Taka was there himself and was a pleasure to meet! All in all its a quality environment with great people, better food, and an amazing experience!

Highly disappointed in Taka. Service was slow and not attentive. We ordered honanero-honey shrimp as an appetizer that were cooked to the consistency of rubber. Their "specialty rolls" are mediocre at best and very overpriced. The only plus side is its beautifully designed decor in the heart of down town Asbury.

Everything here is done right from drinks to entrées. I love the decor and the staff is very accommodating. The meatloaf is awesome as well as the sushi and curry dishes. Great place for big groups too but definitely make reservations because they fill up quick.

Very good quality sushi. Every roll we tried was delicious! Had a few different beers on tap that I havent seen before. We sat in the lounge and the service was a little slow, but overall we had a good experience.

My favorite restaurant ever!!! this place has the most amazing food. yes it is pricey but it is so worth it. The steak with the miso butter and the ribs are delicious! I never ever had a better meal. AMAZING!!

all sushi tasted like rice balls. the rice should not be the overbearing ingredient. overpriced. Update: went again 4 years later. even worse. terrible variety of sushi rolls. over priced still.

Good food, but the portions are on the smaller side for the money. A bit of wait due to the crowds that is a mix of locals and tourists. Terrific bar to hang out in. Wait staff is top shelf.
