This is a wonderful place, the kind of place that exists in your mind more than in reality. Where can you still find a restaurant that is still family owned and operated, with a wide menu, great service, excellent food with lots of room that is not noisy or overpriced. The salad here with house dressing is better than any salad we have ever had. The prime rib is worth the trip and the garlic bread on house-made bread is a treat. The mixed drinks are always perfect. We have dined here many times and on one very special occasion, George and his family hosted a rehearsal dinner for our sons wedding with 85 people. It was a fantastic success. Plenty of places for people to mill around, eat, visit at the bar, sit with the old folks, or mingle with the young ones.

Maybe I expected too much, but this was just one disappointment after another. The waitstaff we dealt with during our visit were either totally lost, or totally filthy. When our food arrived, it was piled into a too small tray, with every plate half on top of the food in the next plate. I realize some waitresses feel this is a skillful accomplishment. I feel that its disgusting and an excuse to not make another trip to the kitchen. The food was not horrible, but not great. Maybe if I had come in for a drink and just stuck with the bar type fare, Id have had a different experience, but for a family dinner this was a waste of a trip.

Its a mixed bag, really not awful. Our main courses were well done with fresh ingredients, so in that way, its definitely better than a diner. Prices are low, and portions are ridiculously large. The veggies were from cans. The place isnt clean enough, and the waiters clothing was dirty. We wont be going back, but maybe these bad attributes will improve. They seem to have a loyal following.

Wonderful family owned restaurant! A rare treat in todays fast food oriented society. The owner always makes a point of coming to our table and making sure everything is perfect, which it was. Clean, friendly and large portions of food make this quiet country restaurant a thumbs up on our list.
