Just walked out after waiting an HOUR!!! NO food. Had to ask where my salad was after 20minutes of waiting. Sald was a joke! A bowl of lettus with a few onions and tomatoes. The three of us ordered a cheese burger, meatball parm and a bar pie. We waited an hour and got nothing! The waitress was HORRIBLE!! She has the worst attitude! She was argumentative and nasty with us when we asked where our food was. She kept hiding in the kitchen and screwing around by the bar with other employees. Who by the way didnt seem interested in her antics. The table that came in AFTER US GOT THEIR MEAL BEFORE US!! They got basically the same thing as us!! The waitress kept hiding in the kitchen and avoiding us when we asked for the bill for our drinks. We had to get up 3times and ask for the bill and even threaten to leave without paying! The waitress was such a B****!!! She kept arguing with us and was s9 nasty when we FINALLY cornered her and asked for our check! The hostesses did nothing when we asked them to get our waitress and when we finally asked for the manager no one seemed to know who the manager was! They finally decieded it was the bartender becuase he had seniority. This place was a Sh** Sh** tonight! So disappointed. The last time we went it was so nice we sat outside and everything was great. (The waitress had blonde hair in a braid and a mole on her lip. I dont remember her name).

I discovered Shady Rest for myself on a New Years Eve 15 years ago, and Ive been going back ever since. Generally on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, as thats when they have their parsleyed potatoes and Steak Alexis is on the specials board. Im not sure Ive ever eaten anything, anywhere in the world, that I enjoy more than that delicious sauteed crab over that gorgeous chargrilled filet. The outdoor eating area, a Rose garden, is nothing short of gorgeous. Its pleasant and romantic, and if its open and there arent any tables available, I wait for one. The chicken marsala is equally delicious, but thats what my wife orders. Ive been trying to duplicate it for years, and never quite get it. I also hear the pizza is delicious, but I cant imagine making the trip down and blowing it on a pizza. Maybe someday.

DO NOT LET THE OUTSIDE FACADE SCARE YOU AWAY!! The Nachos are the best --period!! The burgers rock, the cheese steaks rock. If you are lucky enough to get an outside table in the summer months you will be amazed by the well kept rose garden and hummingbirds buzzing by. The new outside bar with TVs rock. The inside does need a fresh coat of paint to lighten up but still great. The decorations are all a tribute to the owner who is a HUGE fisherman and it shows. You will see him sitting at the bar or just keeping his eye on the place. Staff is great and to a first time person it will be a little awkward when you first walk in but again it is well worth it.

The Shady Rest is a fantastic laid-back restaurant with an unassuming exterior. However, inside you will always find a crowd, and for good reason: the food is no joke. The service is friendly, and no matter the line in the summer months or weekend nights, youll never feel rushed. Ive been there enough with enough people that collectively we have probably had everything on the menu, and nothing disappoints. Their pizzas by the way, are fantastic...one of my all time favorite places to get a pie.

Ive been going here since I was a kid! The food is delicious and the building is old and historical, but very well kept and clean! I love eating outside when its a nice day just to view the beautiful rose garden which is very well taken care of! The person who takes care of it really knows what theyre doing! The food is a little pricey, but they give very big portions and everything is usually outstanding! Very well worth the trip!

The beer is ice cold, the Chicken Shady Rest is awesome, and the staff is terrific. If I can say anything negative about this place its the booths. As uncomfortable as a bus station. After 20 minutes being cramped in these torture racks my back is killing me. But the food is so good I keep coming back anyway. Guys.....do something about those booths....please!

Loved the atmosphere, staff was friendly, and the first time I came last week, it was very busy I couldnt wait, as I was leaving the staffed stopped me and realized someone was paying and we went back, which you wont find to often that a restaurant will do that. This is my new favorite place!! And FYI to everyone....Order the French onion soup! A-mazing!

Will definitely return for the excellent French onion soup. Chicken Caesar salad was also better than most: nicely grilled, thin chicken and a nice light touch on the dressing. Service was engaging even if the kitchen was a bit slow (to be fair this was peak time on a Saturday in July). I hope it will move up to five stars after the next visit.

Horrible first experience: opened the menus and there was mold on the inside of them, Drinks were made incorrectly with salt on the rim of a martini instead of sugar, waited over an hour for our bread and dinners to show up. Waitress was absent minded. Food actually was not that bad but the overall experience was not worth it.

I love this place..First time I came here I thought it was a dive, but Ive been blown away every time since then .The food is excellent and the vibe, especially the outdoor bar (covered during the wintet), is my favorite bar ANYWHERE...This comes from the son of a famous restaurant owners son...Love me some Shady Rest..

Food isnt bad. Its the service thats terrible. I called for take out and was given exactly the opposite of what I ordered. Not only did I have to wait for what I ordered the first time, but I was completely over charged. I will never be back, service is everything, and they just dont have it.

Come at least once or twice a year.. Great service, staff & Food with a descent selection of mixed drinks. Any bad reviews may have been isolated incidents as this establishment has been family owned and operated for many years If you have never been, I suggest to try for yourself

My all time favorite restaurant! Unbeatable chicken franchese and chicken marsala! Food is always consistently amazing, and the staff very friendly. The booths are a bit "cozy," but dont mind it one bit, once I bite into my delicious meal. Kudos to the chefs!

One of our favorite places to go out to eat! We love the rose garden outside in the summer and on cooler days the warmth of the cozy booths inside are great. The food is awesome with large great tasting portions. The staff is always great and food comes quickly

It was OK. Party of 8. When dinner was served, one meal was forgotten. Waitress said the chef did not see it on the ticket ? It was finally served when most others were finished eating. Ordered combo seafood and it came with NO scallops. Disappointed.

Awesome food! So far Ive just ordered the French onion soup and fried calamari. Both dishes were very good. The soup was well seasoned, full of flavor. And the calamari was crispy, lightly battered and fresh. Staff was very friendly.
