The design of the place is incredible. The interior is *exactly* as you would find in an old pub in a little village in the hills in Germany somewhere. The wooden beams, mounted elk head, the benches and tables, ... You are surrounded by groups of people enjoying themselves, eating, drinking, talking, laughing. Unfortunately the food I had was just as bad as the ambience was good. I ordered the Sauerbraten. It consists of 4 main parts: the meat itself (marinated in a somewhat acidic marinate, hence the name), the sauce, potato dumplings, and red cabbage. Let me talk about them: the meat was surprisingly good - Sauerbraten gets hard and dry really easily and this was tender. But the remainder! The sauce was way too sour and sweet, like 2 week old chinese sweet&sour sauce. Positively disgusting. The potato dumplings were dry. And the red cabbage came straight out of a can, with only way too much vinegar and sugar added. Ill probably come back and try some of their other food. Hopefully I can report better things.

After Christmas shopping drove to Zum for dinner(took 3 hrs from Manhattan to Brooklyn terrible traffic). Sat and ordered a drink. Drink arrived and meal arrived shortly thereafter. The Jaagersnitzel(which i have has before) was grizzly. O.K. bad veal paddy, it happens.A fight was erupting between two adult groups, words exchanged, a little pushing and shoving. I grabbed by dining partner and moved away from our meals that were on the table. The argument quieted only to erupt again. SO, I again moved my lady friend away from the ruckus and our now cold grizzly schnitzel. Now the waitress chases me thinking Im trying to leave without paying the check. Long story short, I payed the check, left without finishing the cold grizzly schnitzel. Been going to this place since 1978. Will NEVER go again. Poor food and no control over the over indulged customers. This should never happen in a restaurant, if you have a problem group remove them. Place is a DUMP stay away

Was there for my grandfathers 96th birthday the food was really good and my grandfather seem to like the place so thats awesome the only thing that I saw that we had problems with was even know we had made reservations well ahead of time to have over 10 people they did not have proper seating for us they claimed it was in the book but for some reason it wasnt put on their schedule for the day so they had to quickly move things around to try and accommodate us when they did there was almost no room for anybody to sit and be able to the comfortable let alone sit be comfortable and and eat if it wasnt for the families around us seeing how many people we had along with having a wheelchair and a one year old they quickly ate so that they could get up and give us their tables so that we could have room to spread out I would like to think those families for the bottom of my heart for that

Zum Stammtisch is very popular the food is excellent i come there for years with my family of 6 or sometimes just 2 .. love the restaurant my only complaint is the staff are becoming ruder than ever it came to a point now they are telling you about the TIP you give they actually say is that it with a high voice tone !!!!! only $ 10 or what ever amount you tipped them i find that very insulting they need to work on the attitudes and smile more often, they are becoming out of hands and iam actually hesitating to come for dinner i dont like the treatment the treatment customer get ... maybe thats why the girl with the long dark hair was punched in her face from a customer on 11/5/16 she triggered hi and iam sure he was under alcohol so he snapped its really getting out of hands the staff provokes the customers

I ordered the breaded chicken dish it was under done was not even cooked all the way thought raw as can be & was cold and the spinach was the same. And the staff was very RUD when we asked for bread he that we olny got pretzels. For lunch on satruday and I would have Ben happy with McDonalds then ZUM STAMMTISCH the food dose not taste like German food because it taste like American food and that way I would not come back here to eat every again to this place. As long I live and that was the last place on earth and I was DIYING for something to eat. And that what if that was the bit of food on earth & u had to go this dam place to eat for food. The food would make you sick & kill u.

One of the last authentic German Restaurants not only in Queens but in NYC. Outlasted the rest because of its incredibly faithful following of regulars. Bring your appetite because the portions are huge and the draft beer is second to none. The Goulash Soup, Jägerschnitzel, German sausages (Bratwurst, Knockwurst, Krainerwurst), home made potato salad and sauerkraut plus very fresh Hofbrau Original on Tap are all stand outs. We prefer sitting, relaxing and eating at the bar. Along with its traditional German Rustic Decor, Bartenders Pat & Jerry make you feel like youre right at home. Love it.

Not a real German Restaurant. The snitzel came cold. It had absolutely no presentation. The snitzel was paper thin and very much breaded. On the other hand I give the vegetable a good rating. The souercraut was good. The snails was served on a potatoe. It gave it a potato taste. It was not hot serve. No french fries or salad serve with the snitzel, everything is an extra. I lived in Germany for 20 years. No comparison to real German restaurant. I will not recommend anyone to eat at this place. Im sorry for the bad rating but I was not impressed.

Being from Buffalo and WNY I visited this resturaunt (Back in 2001) with high hopes. I dine frequently at local German Resturaunts. Hands-down the best Jaeger Schnitzel I have ever had. Great authentic feel to the atmoshphere too. I have German ancestry (Buffalo, NY) and have a lot of experience with the food (See: Sharfs Shiller Park Tavern in Buffalo NY if your travles bring you this way). If I ever get a chance to eat there again I am going for the Liver Dumplings (another fav).

Best Burger on Fresh Pond road... period... Gino is the man cooking... breakfast, lunch dinner... they are open 24hrs.. so you can get that late night mozzarella sticks craving fixed... 2 seats in the back no other seating... but food and prices are great... huge Burger deluxe for 6.00??? Big hero sandwiches 5 to 7 bucks... 4.00 for a stack of French toast? Trust me... this place rocks and they are always clean... try them out.

one of my favorites for years, zum stammtisch simply cant be beat when it comes to german food. great sauerbraten and schnitzel is paired with spectacular german beer. for something different, try their rauchbier in a bottle. this smoked german beer is heavy, delicious, and unlike anthing youve had before. zum stammtisch is a welcome german beachead on american soil.
