Subtle RACIST Undertones and TERRIBLE customer service. I am pretty open minded black male and was inspired by my friend (caucasian female) to try out some interesting Irish drinks, i.e. Irish car bomb. I walked in to the bar at 10:30pm Saturday evening with a friend. We proceeded to order the drinks ( 3 in total) and stood by the bar having conversation for about an hour. Irish car bomb, Long Island Ice Tea and Corona for the lady. So two drinks for me and one for her. In middle of conversation the bartender walks over and proceeds(politely) to tell me that i am not ordering enough drinks and i am taking up a free stool. Naturally, i looked behind, to my left, to my right and saw no one waiting for free space. I then made him aware of that fact AND that i wasnt even using a stool but was standing. He then said, "my boss needs you to order more drinks or make space, i.e. LEAVE. You can either interprete that as a shake down or polite request to leave. I am not even sure that is LEGAL. But that isnt my main concern. I looked around and i was the only black male in this small but cozy establishment. Throughout my conversation with my friend i was soaking in the scenery of this little bar because the bar table takes circular form factor. AT NO POINT did i see this bar man tell anyone else what i was told. Not to mention i had given him my credit card to keep open, i.e. i fully intended on having several drinks-NOT with tubing stuffed down my throat to consume copious amounts of alcahol to indulge the owner. I took a split second and IMMEDIATELY requested my credit card. Signed for the 3 drinks MINUS a tip and walked out. BE WARNED. Either be prepared to be grossly insulted whether you are black or white (because she is white and was obviousily insulted as well), OR be asked to drink at ligtening pace AND OR just dont go their if you arent Irish. Terrible, terrible, terrible establishment.

We found this place that is in a corner off Austin, away from the bustling area. We chose it because it had decent prices. The interior decor was cute, it felt very homey, and it really felt like your were in Ireland. The food was standard Irish fare, with big portions. Although it was busy, service was very good and the food came out at reasonable times. Irish beef stew- standard potluck beef with vegetables. It was pretty good, I especially liked the Guiness gravy. Gaelic steak with mushroom sauce- It was pretty big for a 6oz sirloin. I ordered it medium rare and it was probably medium and too overdone and tough for my liking. I kept biting into the hard fatty pieces because the lighting was so dim and the gravy was covering all of the steak. The mashed potatoes tasted like it was instant. french onion soup- I wasnt really impressed. It tasted like it was from a packet.

Cute romantic booths. Food was good but not great. Service was adequate but a bit pushy. Smithwicks on tap was nice, but finding out at the end that it was $7 a glass was an unpleasant surprise. $7 is Manhattan; this is Queens. And this is New York. No buybacks=no comebacks. Lastly, the Mens Room was out of order, and the Ladies Room, although clean, had gaps in the corners trimmed with ill-fitting Great Stuff. In summary, if you walk in humming, "Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas," youll be fine. Just dont look too close at anything. Its being milked while the infrastructure goes downhill. Watch it get sold in the next ten years. Hopefully it wont turn out like Louies of Bayside.

Went for dinner, told 45 minute wait. Checked in after 15 and 30min, time estimate still the same. At 45 minutes went to ask the waitress about the ETA, was told bluntly it would be at least 20 more minutes because someone else needed to be seated first. Saw the list, my name went from 3rd on the wait list to 4th with another name scribbled in the top margin. No explanation offered, extremely rude staff.

Vintage shiek Irish Bar with a great selection of beers, hot food like burgers and wings, and and my favorite - Shepherds Pie! Owners and staff are amazing and if you are lucky you can catch live music on a special night. Check out the outdoor seating in the summer and the cozy booths in the winter. We love the Irish Cottage.

The Irish cottage is a decent pub in Forest Hills. The food is OK, the atmosphere is quaint if not terribly original. The location is on a side street, which makes it easy to miss sometimes. I liked it but could take it or leave it. Charming but not very exciting as a pub.

Walked in and sat at bar. bartender looks at me and continues to chat it up with her Buddie. I wait for her to finally come over...about 10 minutes...as she approached I got up an left. Walked across the street and received great service!

Eh. The staff were friendly and attentive, and thats all good. The food was way overpriced considering it is 100% processed crap. Nothing is fresh made. $12.50 for processed sausage, mash that came out of a box and beans from a can.

Great place to just chill, let loose, or whatever. Bar service is always super friendly and attentive. Overall, a solid establishment if you want to drink and just hang out, with no frilly atmospheric nonsense.

I have to say that I felt a bit apprehensive when I first entered this old irish bar in Forest Hills, Queens. There were a bunch of older men talking loudly and the jukebox was blasting 80s hair band music.

The food was just alright. Their fancy cheese fries sounded great but it was just fries with cheese slices melted over it for 10 dollars. The fish and chips were just OK. Overall just alright.

The food is good but a little expensive; our average price per person was $18. The portions were great, possibly a bit over sized. The chicken cordon bleu sandwich was excellent.

Excellent pub for a pint and conversation. Simple and just like home. Good enough food, shepherds pie hits the spot. Nothing fancy like we like it.
