If it were all up to the restaurants decoration/atmosphere, food, and shows/performances, I would have rated my experience anywhere between 4 and 4.5 stars. However, what really appalled me is the service and everything related to the waiting staff. While I understand that the restaurant is severely understaffed (even at 75% capacity) I, as a customer who pays $$$, am not willing to condone it. Poor waiters have a physical appearance of someone who was dragged ten miles after a horse, and, as if after a thrift store raid, all wearing different clothes that dont fit neither them, nor are up to par with the restaurants presumed status/rating. Now, specifically about my personal expericence. As I mentioned there were no positive aspects in regard to the service dimension, so here are the negative ones: 1) nobody was there to meet my company of 6 and myself at the entrance for 4-5 minutes; 2) in another 5 minutes after we were finally "greeted" they realized that there is no table set aside for us (despite me calling to make a reservation more than 24 hours in advance). So, they arranged a table for us by hastily putting three small tables together, of course forgetting to arrange some of the utensils, for which we had to ask later; 3) over the course of the dinner our waiter and the waiter serving the adjacent table were constantly apologizing for their prolonged absence because they were serving a banquet taking place in another room (as if I care about it on my birthday). What enraged me above all is that after I tipped the waiter 10% (above 10% included in the bill), he had the audacity to have a debate with me about the quality of service. Anyway, whatever the issue is, the management should take a note of this because such treatment is not at all fair to both the customers and the waiters.

My visit to the Tatiana Cafe nearly ruined an otherwise enjoyable day in Brighton Beach. Having heard about this landmark of Brighton Beach and the promise of great seafood, I was very, very excited to try it. We were not greeted or even acknowledged when we walked in the door. The waitress who seated us pulled a table away from another group without cleaning it or setting it before we sat down. (The table never got wiped down) All of the servers were EXTREMELY rude and barely spoke to us, even while taking our orders, and generally made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Im wondering if this was because we arent Russian? Still no excuse, but an explanation, as the other (mostly Russian from what I could tell) tables seemed to be enjoying themselves. Nobody asked us how our meal was, etc. The food was not as described and way overpriced for the quality. In addition, a 10% gratuity was added to the bill, okay fine (though way more than they deserved considering how rudely we were treated), but when the credit card slip came back for us to sign there were suggestions (15%, 20%, 25% in dollar amounts) for the tip - on top of, and INCLUDING the 10% theyd already tacked on. Pretty nervy. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant that I felt compelled to write a review online, the Tatiana Cafe did that to me. Do yourself a favor and dont even bother. We wished wed gotten a hotdog and some clams from the nearby stand and enjoyed them on the beach. Im still fuming.

Everything became worse since weve been there 6 years ago. Poor and very boring show, just a few russain songs and huge amount of italian ballads. We love russian music and came to dance. Instead we were sitting and listening ballads for almost all evening. The food and service was good by the way.

ILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. GOT RIPPED OFF ON SOME STUPID SERVICE CHARGE THEY PUT IN MY RECEIPT WHEN I WENT TO PAY. FOOD WAS COLD, SERVICE WAS VERY POOR. TOOK FOREVER TO GET MY FOOD. ONE THING I DO IS TIP... WHEN I GOT THIS GRATUITY CHARGERD IN MY BILL, I TOLD THE WAITER TO REMOVE IT AND I WILL TIP YOU IN CASH. HE PLAIN OUT SAID TO ME THAT WAS A SERVICE CHARGE, I WAS LIKE WHAT THE (F) IS A SERVICE CHARGE. I WAS TIPPING HIM 3 TIMES MORE THAN THE GRATUITY CHARGE ON WHAT THEY HAD ON THE BILL. I DROVE LIKE 50 MILES TO HAVE DINNER THERE WITH MY FAMILY. I PROMISE I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. GRATUITY IS BASED ON SERVICE, ITS NOT AN AUTOMATIC THAT THE CUSTOMER HAS TO PAY. PLUS THEY ARE VERY CUTE, THEY DIDNT GIVE ME THE RECEIPT SHOWING THE CHARGE I HAD TO PAY. ONLY THE CREDIT CARD RECEIPT. YOU WANT GOOD RUSSIAN FOOD GO TO SAMVAR IN MANAHTTAN, THE BEST OF THE BEST... 52ND STREET & 7TH AVENUE. GREAT HOSPITALITY.

Food was excellent - I had chicken Shashlik (OMG so juicy, tasty, and delicious - that came with a nice pita style bread, pickled cabbage and onions with fresh sprinkles of dill YUMMY!!!!), also had Vareniki with cheese (so good). Prices were good IMO - look, the place is by the water! Gorgeous view of Brighton Beach, and after what happened with the flood - they have to keep the prices a little on the higher side to be able to cover the cost of damage. The waitress was very nice/excellent and friendly. Service overall was very good - nothing to complain about. Only complaint was the Italian music - I would have preferred Russian music. Also the kids chair was falling apart, and my daughter was so fidgety I was afraid she was going to hurt herself. I liked the fact that as I came in I was greeted in Russian and they only spoke to me in Russian :) Ill be back!
