This place is OK for a burger but did not satisfy the pallet. Pipers Kilt in Eastchester is still the pinnacle of a fresh burger and fries youll eat in Westchester. First the atmosphere....Very cool. It is tuck away in a strip mall in Briarcliff Manor (where parking is tough) but dont be fooled, it was very relaxing and calming. It is old school....dark, with a very blue collar feel...perfect for a burger place/pub/bar. The bar is the center of the "first room" and thats a good thing. My wife ordered a Stella Artois on tap and I had a Makers on the rocks (very generous pour) and the price for both were more than reasonable. We needed a drink because there was a bit of a wait. On that...there is no host/hostess....there is a book you go up to and sign your name and # in your party....pretty cool. Also....it is family friendly, toddler friendly, etc. which is great for young families... Just a bit tight spatially. Second the dining room/wait staff....again really friendly and homie. A bit tight, but not bad. Now the food. I ordered a Bacon cheddar burger with fried onions "As rare as you can legally make it". This is always my sticking point. If you bring out a burger that is medium rare, medium, or medium well....you lose me. And thats what happened. My burger came out and it was medium at best. Not only that it was relatively dry. Ive had burgers that came out medium but had high fat contents in the meat and thus still juicy. This leads me to believe that the burgers here are not hand made fresh chopped meat burgers and cannot be made rare. The bun was soft and fluffy but toasted which was nice. The fries were very good (steak fries basically, not my favorite) but the honey mustard was delicious and plentiful. The price though was very reasonable here. For a couple to go out to dinner, have a beer and cocktail, (2) burgers and a coke but spend only around $50, very reasonable. Lastly.....and this is my biggest turn-off...it was cash or AMEX....little did we know. We had to go to their ATM machine (which i do not like to do, bad theft experience) and take out cash to pay for dinner...that was it for me. I will drive 35 minutes south to Eastchester instead of 25 minutes southwest to Squires for a burger any weekend!

Squires of Briarcliff NEVER disappoints!! Over the last 40 years I must have tried at least 90% of the restaurants in the Irvington-Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow- Briarcliff Manor - Ossining - Croton - Peekskill vicinity, and while many of them are nice, hands down Squires is THE BEST if you are looking for fresh and delicious take out or dine in. Had a bad day? Why not hit Squires for a drink at their newly renovated bar amongst some of the coolest people in Westchester? Had a great day? Then head over to Squires and treat yourself to one of the numerous dinner options on either the standard, or my favorite, the specials menus. Feeling lazy? Call up Squires for fast and easy take out. The wait staff and bus boys and hostesses at Squires have been there for years and treat you like family. The owners (Kurt and Jayne) are hands on and loved by all. Tucked in the corner of a small strip mall you might drive right by this gem of a place. But dont make that mistake anymore!! Do your belly a favor and GO THERE!! If you like bleu cheese you have to try the bleu cheese burger or flat iron steak off the specials menu. If you like salads, the Briarcliff salad will not disappoint. Chicken parm or pork chops are amazing and my most recent discovery is their string beans. WOW. Cash or Amex only - but they do have an ATM there.

Tried-and-true! In business 40-years, and for very good reason! Good food at affordable prices, easily the best value in Briarcliff. They do not accept credit cards, except for the American Express card. Everything on the menu is good, but the burgers steaks and seafood really stand out! And if your meal comes with a salad or you choose to order one for dinner -- the house dressing is great! And dont forget their desserts, locally baked and delicious!

The menu isnt long but the food is great. Priced reasonably. Burgers are awesome. The place gets packed so go on an off night or be prepared to mingle for a while with the locals. This isnt a younger crowd. its a place where "everybody knows your name..."

The food was delicious and huge portions! The bus boy is a gem. So nice! I love the wait staff and bartenders too. Go here to meet old friends or make new ones. Theres a great vibe here. Happy and nothing but comfort foods. Thank God for Squires!.. :)
