As a staunch gourmand and diner enthusiast I have been to several dozen diners, most of which are in the NY/NJ area, and this is one of the best. The waiters and bus boys are very attentive, quick and happy to be helping. The owners, or the two younger owners, are very kind and really appreciate the business. This area has a number of decent diners and I think they know that so they can appreciate that you are choosing them, sometimes passing 2 or 3 diners in order to do so. The food has yet to disappoint. The breakfast platters have well cooked eggs, delicious large link sausages and delicious home fries. Say light on the butter tho! Because your toast may be drowning in it. For a real treat get the Palmero panini. Two deliciously grilled panini flat breads encompassing a well cooked chicken breast, ham, cheese and sun dried tomatos. Another thing this diner has going for it are its hours. It isnt 24-7 but compared to the other diners in the area it is open late enough (1-2am) to serve even us late shifters at the hospital. You wont be disappointed.

This is our go to breakfast spot in whippany! !! Love the waitress Amy! She is wonderful, always so attentive and really sweet person! Every diner needs an Amy... not like the usual diner ladies were used to in nj ya know the old run down miserable spiteful ladies that pretty much have no voice and your always looking for them for your check... because their outside taking their coffee and cigarette break... yeah no Amy is always tending her tables and with such a positive, bright bubbly personality! Service with a million dollar smile!

This is one of my favorite diners in Northern or Central NJ. It has good food, the waitress was friendly, and I liked the deserts. Downsides are that the place was packed at 6, to the point of not being able to hear myself think. Still, I left wishing I could eat there every day. It seems to be run by a family of eastern europeans, and they must be doing something right. Its a bit too high quality to be a proper diner, until you see the typical diner prices and classify it once again as a popular proper diner.

Sometimes I fancy a Jersey diner breakfast. This diner happened to be closest to the hotel, so I tried it one morning. I had the eggs benedict breakfast special. One thing I noticed is the eggs benedict special and a few others are over $10, which seems rather high to me but it may simply be part of the higher cost of living in northern New Jersey. Pricing aside, I thought it was a solid dish with a number of extra items (fruit and juice) that I dont usually see at other diners. Also, service was pretty good.

Went there with wife and baby in a carseat... asked for a Booth and when we got to the table I attempted to fit my son in his car seat in the Booth and was unsuccessful. All along the hostess stood there with a nasty face and was no help, didnt offer another solution and quickly walked away putting our menus on another table, without asking me to follow. Food was average. wish we had gone to Bogeys which is accross the street and much better... wouldnt go back and wouldnt suggest this diner

Born and raised in Jersey, but now live in northern Virginia. I MISS DINERS!!!! So on a recent trip to northern Jersey, we stopped in at Brookside Diner. Granted, we only order matzo ball soup, but it was PERFECT! (We were really hoping to stop in at Union Square Diner by Kean University for the greatest matzo ball soup, but we just didnt have the time.) We were pleasantly surprised by Brookside: the aura of the stereotypical diner, with the great food to match.

Great food, friendly atmosphere. This Diner is your classic Greek diner that makes sure people dont walk out with empty pockets or an empty stomach. Every dish I have had there was delicious. My favorite is the seafood platter. I just wish they put potatoes in the mousaka. John is the friendliest diner owner I ever met and greets me with a warm smile every time I see him there. Hes a great example of why food serving establishments should be owner operated.

Ive been to this place a ton of times. I love french fries, I love gravy and I love American cheese. Ive had disco fries in Montreal (Poutine), Ive had it at multiple diners in Manhattan and Queens, Ive been to MANY diners throughout NJ (both north and south) and no place makes disco fries as great as these guys. Their other food is pretty good too (i.e. pancakes, triple decker sandwiches). You cant go wrong with Brookside Diner.

A friend took me there twice in the past few weeks. French Dip (both times) was delicious, hence, why I ordered it again. My friend is a regular customer and there is a friendly banter between her and the staff. Serving size was large (took leftovers home), order came out timely, and wasnt rushed to leave once bill was put on the table.

You expect more from a diner in New Jersey - considering that state is the land where diners reign. Service was slow and unresponsive. The food was passable - the burger was kind of lame and my friends crepes came out under a pile of red goo meant to be strawberries. I wouldnt return unless I was in dire straits.

Our favorite restaurant. We come here at least once a week. Friendly staff and owner is always walking around and talking to customers. On top of that food is great. Large portions and dinner comes with dessert.

Its a diner. I would go back if I was in the area and hungry. Its not a destination restaurant. My pie was average, portions are good. Im sure the food is decent, just dont order the lobster :)

Im on several special diets. I was so happy that they had gluten free bread along with other meals. Meals you can find while eating out, but not bread. Thank you Brookside Diner!!!!
