Good food very accommodating! This is our family go to place! Two yrs ago my family with a group of 8 people came to have lunch after our oldest daughters baby dedication. The food & service was good and price was great! The a few weeks ago our youngest daughter was to be dedicated and so I thought it would be the same size group....however to our delight, the group grew to 22! I went to the diner and shared my dilemma. The hostess said" sorry we cant reserve tables on weekends!" I started hyperventilating! Then she suggested that I create my own menu and have the entire group come sit/eat at same time and they will accommodate our growing party! So I took a copy of menu home select items I liked, created a menu and bought my group of 30+ with a cake to the diner after the dedication. The rest was history! The food, service was awesome and everyone had a grest time!

Just got home from the diner and needed to comment on my experience. We had a party of 6 for brunch. I ordered an omelet and it came quickly but the eggs were slimy. Asked for a new one after explaining the problem with the second slimy one being delivered. I was offered a third, while the rest of my party were already 1/2 way done with their meals. Whats quick and easy... a grilled cheese with a side of onion rings. 20 minutes later (While our server A. Bril was throwing his pen around and taking) the grilled cheese came with the promise of onion rings to follow. Which I quickly told our server to forget them. He brought the bill with the grilled cheese on the bill and said he could not remove it but to take it to the cashier and she would most likely take care of it. She was rude and the service horrendous. Never Again,

Was back in NJ after many years, and having grown up in the area, I bragged on the "diner experience" to my wife.......Somerset Diner lived up to it and more....great food, and the BEST SERVICE ever in ANY restaurant and Ive eaten in many 4 star places in NY & LA which dont have service as good!! Our server Lucy on the initial visit was outstanding.......we ate breakfast there 5 days running, and loved every meal. My wife loved the GIROS, which became a breakfast food. I cant say enough good things about our experience.....unfortunately we had to return to Arizona....and will have to wait a while for the next visit. KUDOS to the management, servers, and everyone involved.

Food was amazing but our server Sable was very rude to us assuming because me and my sister look very young and she was expecting a small tip. A table that came in after us got their food first. She greeted us after being there for 15 minutes and her greeting was do you know what you want. Another table of older woman came in and she greeted them right away will all smiles.I had to ask the host for her name. She never asked us how we were doing. I still left her a 10 dollar tip and our bill was only 33 dollars because Im a server as well and I know money is rough. Im also almost 9 months pregnant. I recommend the food and the restaurant its self just not the server sable.

My experience with this dinner was very interesting. When I first Walked in I got a feel of a modern sense while trying to keep the dinner old fashioned. I as greeted by a waiter right away and was seated right away. Me and my associates ordered our drinks and were brought to us in 3 minutes. There was a little mishap with whos drink was whos but was all settled. I ordered the chicken finger wrap without the honey mustard witch was quite satisfying except for the lettuce witch tasted a bit expired.also as an app we got the buffalo chicken strips that had a little kick to it. All in all I would not eat here normally but it was a good experience.

Have driven by here a ton of times taking my daughter to basketball practice at Rutgers Prep. Went here with a large group recently after a basketball game and was pleasantly surprised. Despite our size (close to 20) they got us seated quickly but splitting us in two (kids at one table, parents at another). The waitress split every family onto separate checks very efficiently despite the kids being at another table. Diner menu with tons of options. I got a skillet with corned beef hash. Large portion, served hot, and very filling. My daughter had a Belgian waffle which she enjoyed. Food came out very quickly. Very good experience here!

It was Saturday morning, at 2 am. Ive never been to a diner before so I figured this was a great chance to try it out. The waitress was kind and friendly and talked to me and the table next to me like a friend rather than a employee. The food came out in 5 minutes or so. I ordered the RU Triple Grill and I was kinda satisfied with it. It was just melted cheese and grilled meat in bread so nothing special. Came with good fries, coleslaw, and a pickle. The appearance was weird since half the restaurant went with the old school vibe but half of it was just a normal restaurant. The food was filling, and the service was friendly at 2am.

Stopped in the other morning. First of all, did you ever hear of a diner that did not sell newspapers ? Me either. Off to a bad start. I order an omlet with an english muffin. Omlet ok but they charge a dollar extra for an EM. Other diners ive been to charge a quarter or at most 50 cents. Strike two. Also, they dont give you nothin with the entre. Coffee and juice extra. Strike three. Their potatoes are more like au gratin potatoes. Didnt care for them. I drank water and my bill was over 10 bucks. Diner on 22 in Green Brook and Mountainside in Middlesex are better. This place is more style than substance.

Somerset Diner is your typical NJ diner. The food is great and inexpensive and there are plenty of options for the hungry patron. There is tons of seating available and I particularly enjoyed the lighting and colors inside. The waitstaff was helpful, friendly, and outgoing and the service was quick. I ended up going with a classic bacon cheeseburger with a side of curly fries. The burger was excellent, cooked perfectly to order and the curly fries were tremendous. My girlfriend and I split a vanilla milkshake for dessert which was also quite good.

I eat here all the time and the service is always nice. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and in a weak moment i told one of the waitresses that. Now every time I come in she makes sure my drinks and food are healthy for me to eat and if i say i want to cheat she wont let me cause she knows i need that swift kick sometimes. I NEVER have met a staff that cares that deeply about their customers. They are always friendly, the food is terrific, and the portions are HUGE for a great price.

Usually this place is pretty good. Ill admit some items on the menu, such as the appetizers are a bit overpriced and Ill probably never buy pasta from here again. But I do enjoy their sandwiches and entrees. I almost always get the chicken soup and their hot chocolate was above par. Theyre pretty friendly and I like the new atmosphere. Its not the best Ive been to but if youre looking for a change from McDonalds I would recommend the diner.
