Not sure what all the poor reviews are about. I had a really good masala dosai there today (Thursday, lunchtime). The sambar was good (authentic) and so were the chutneys. Nothing was spicier than it needed to be, and if it had been under-spiced, I wouldnt give the place 4 stars. The only reason Im not giving it 5 stars is because, like most other Indian restaurants in NJ, the staff are indifferent. Who cares. Im there for the dosai not for the genuflection. Although I would have appreciated it if the busboy had cleared the table behind me by taking the dirty plates to his wagon full of dirty plates that had been parked in one corner of the restaurant instead of wheeling the wagon through the restaurant and parking it next to me while he piled on more dirty plates. Even so, Id go back.

All stars are for food..sometime, I can ignore the average services for great food. Always open on time.. been here 3 times at 11 am Sunday mornings and most food items are available. Ok, for the owners, please focus a little bit on the presentation aspects such as training receptionist to warmly welcome guests, using better than plastic glasses and carafes, etc. This could easily be one of the most successful chains for south Indian food if polished well and on time. Tip for first timer visitors: if your waist size is less than 42 inches, prefer to sit on the chairs instead of the sofa booths OR as for a ladle instead a spoon

This was totally a contrasting experience I had compared to the Edison Saravanaa, which I visited many times before. I was unsatisfied by service and the taste of food. It took 20 mins to come take our order(we had to go to the reception and remind them) . We got our food served but there was no cutlery, we had to wait 10 more minutes before we had to walk to the reception again. We were just hoping that the taste would make the wait worthwhile. Unfortunately the food wasnt hot or tasty. It was disappointing.

Ill start by saying that I love Indian culture and Indian food, but this place ... far from acceptable. The food was soooo spicy that it was really difficult to enjoy, and no one ever asked if I had been there before, or said something like: "Hey, just so you know we try to replicate the authentic spiciness of Indian food". If you go in, be ready for that and for your food to come to the table 2.5 minutes after you placed the order ... a little sketchy.

Worse place to go. We drove 1 hour to eat their dosa. My wife is very fond of south asian food & i have heard about this place from friends, so I decided to take my wife & daughter there. When the person came to take our order, he said they dont have potatoes stuffing, no indo Chinese & no north indian food too, seriously? Then why the hell you have opened your restaurant? The worse experience i have had it so far. Never going to there for sure.

I hope Saravana Bhavan closes this location, its only SPOILING the brands name. Lousy service, their sambar thats supposed to be one of the best is always diluted (especially on busy days). The staff there have this "DONT CARE ATTITUDE". I love Saravana Bhavan food and taste but this one is just bad how many ever times I try this place. But am still fond of their food (but not in Princeton Highstown road location though).

Great food, attentive waiters and quick service. We had heard good reviews from a local friend in Princeton, so decided to check it out on our way back from Swaminarayan temple (BAPS). We were a group of 8 and we are all from AP & Tamil Nadu, so South Indians would definitely appreciate the "authentic" food. The place was not very crowded either (possibly due to it being a weeknight). Overall, definite thumbs up.

Being a south indian im a huge fan of Saravana Bhavan - Unfortunately this one is not the best branch of Saravana Bhavan in NJ/NY area. The Medu vadas were stale - not just vadas, but anything and everything. The gulab jamoons were the worst of all that I have ever had in my life. Sorry, but this one needs a lot of improvement to maintain that Saravana Bhavan quality and name!

The food quality is good but overpriced. For example, Channa Batura is $11 which is typically $6-9 in other restaurants. North Indian thali is $16.50 which is even higher than regular buffet price offered by other restaurants in the vicinity. So clearly overpriced. Note: The price is used to be reasonable but noticed a steep increase recently.

South Indian (Madras) vegetarian food doesnt get more authentic or tastier than this. Prepare your taste buds for a treat. If you dont know what to order, go for Thali meals with poori bread. You will get a bunch of curries with rice, sides and a dessert. Mix one of the curries with rice and go nuts. Repeat this for every curry.

Guys I am from South India, Please stay away from this place, even Saravanaa Bhavan Edison NJ. I would insist anyone who wants to taste south Indian food to stay away from this place. This is my second time here... I am sorry I couldnt even give one star. but google wont let me post this review without selecting a star.

Sarvana bhavan is an awesome choice for great indian vegetarian food! Umpteen number of choices in the menu. The taste truly is authentic with the live dosas being our favourites. The place is clean, service spot on, great food - a place we would definitely like to come back to! Highly recommend!!

This hotel part of famous food chain saravana bhavan... But the taste and quality of the food is zero here... so far I went here 5 times in the last 2 years. Laat three times (last 8 months) the food taste is not good... people are coming here for the brand name of that chain..

Does justice to the South India cuisine, cleaner than its North Jersey location. Salt lassi was extremely salty but I give them benefit of doubt for probable one time incident. Medu vada, idli, uttapam and Mysore dosa were all good. The neighborhood is also quiet and clean.

Too Pricey and food is not at all good and not worthy at all. I also found an dead insect in the rice! When I informed this to the cashier, he had no reaction on his face and not kind of showed dont care attitude. I was very disappointed with the visit.

I would have given 0 star if there was a option. We went for lunch there and our food did not come out for 45 mins. When it came it was half cooked and horrible. Dosa felt like paratha, all the staff looked stressed there no one was pleasant at all..

This is worst restaurant where you dont see anyone smiling as if they are serving free food. Waited does not even fill the water in the glass. Masala vada was worst in taste. I will never go this restaurant and will never recommend to anyone.
