Just had a very bad experience at Kochi. First we were made to sit for more than 30 minutes before our appetizer was brought and that only when we asked. They did not have any professional courtesy to offer any other food or drink while we were made to wait. I believe they have only one cook who cooks both North and South Indian cuisine. That is the reason why their North Indian food is not authentic. Also, even after we had finished our appetizer, our main food was brought after a considerable delay. They had two waiters and one of them also served as cashier. Only he brought the food out from the kitchen. The other chap just walked back and forth and cleaned the tables. Even though the restaurant is small, they took awful lot of time serving. After eating I went to the restroom, where there was no soap. It was dirty, too. The area behind the counter was ugly. They keep their glass and stemware in that counter. The restaurant hall/room was also dirty. They charge enormous amount for little food they offer per dish. I should have read Srividyas review before going there. Hope, next customer does review hers and mine before going there. My Navy Lt. son just felt awful and restrained us from getting up and walk away when the delay in serving our food was felt the first time. Man, O Man, there r are better places to eat nearby.

My wife (Bengali) and I (New Yorker) love the exciting flavors of Kerala cuisine, and have enjoyed many of our most incredible meals during our travels to that beautiful southern Indian state. We were delighted to find a restaurant in Central Jersey serving this delicious food, and upon eating there, decided we wanted the restaurant to cater our wedding. Mathew, the owner, was one of the most gracious and accommodating people we have ever worked with. He went above and beyond our expectations in every way from adapting some of his classic dishes into hors doeuvres to special ordering pomfret fish for our meen pollichathu to setting up a made-to-order appam station for our guests where he personally did the cooking! The attendees of our wedding LOVED the food and the experience of trying something different from the North Indian food they were more familiar with. Obviously a great place to grab a terrific dinner, but also a great business to consider for professional catering.

Was visiting NJ for a wedding and wanted some Kerala Food, since we were not familar with the place we searched on google and based on reviews we called to see if they had kerala food, the person who answered the phone did not even know what kerala meal is then why is this placed named Kochi as a title. Anyway we thought we will go and give it a try. Ordered fish curry, yuca, beef fry, meen pollichathu, avial and moru curry. We were happy with all the Non Veg items as it was good in taste. Veg items No. What pissed me off is they charged freaking $10 dollar for some moru (yellow yogurt curry), been from Houston, TX, where there is plenty of restaurants small and huge i have never seen a restaurant charged that much. One suggestion i have is if the restaurant is named in any Kerala names pls know what kerala meal is bec thats our tradition and pls dont over charged the customers. I will only recommend this place if your craving for some kerala food and if there is no other.

BAD EXPERIENCE. Food was good. But VERY EXPENSIVE or for the price we pay they give us toddler portion food. Seriously, I paid 10$ for veg side dish and they gave me hardly 6OZ of it. The server had absolutely no manners. He never asked us if we are done with the food, the minute I put my beverage cup down, he took it away. I had left some juice in there to drink later. Same happened with my 3 yr old daughter. Before she even finished her dosa, the man just took her plate. Never bothered to ask us if we she was done. My daughter got so upset and she was still hungry. I WILL NEVER EVER GO THERE!! I dont know, may be you go as a group of 6 or more and order tons of food, they respect you. If thats what they are, ITS A TOTAL SHAME. May be thats why there was nobody in that restaurant.

Been here about 5 times and the quality of food and service seems to be on a decline each time we head out there. Was there this week. Food was just about OK. As others pointed out, wait time was unreasonable and the service was sub par and annoying. One of the waiters couldnt care less about our presence. He had an issue when one of the toddlers got out of his high chair and he NEEDED to know if we were going to continue to use it as it was obstructing his way. Did not want to argue with him and told him he can take it out and he gladly did. No eye contact when placing food or check. They have to realize that people opt for dine-in not just for the sake of food but also to have a relaxing and stress free dinner/lunch experience.I doubt if I will ever return.

This was a suprise visit for me as i was looking for a indian reataurants around the area and we end up to Kochi Restaurant first thing i felt good abt it was the aroma in the envoirment as soon as you enter in there. Place was clean well maintained. As menu was pretty new for us our server explained it very well. We ordered few dishes as per his recommendations we loved it specially their Goat ularthiathu and meen pollichathu (must try) chicken lollypop, appam stew and malabar paratta were awesome. Im glad we ended up to this place accidently but i promise we will be back soon with our other friends. Kochi rocks.

Maybe I ordered on an off day, but both the food and the customer service was horrible. I ordered take out and the man who rung up my food was rude. Not a complete deal breaker when it comes to food but slightly off putting nonetheless. The mutton korma and tikka masala were mild, like I asked, but dripping with grease. The oil was seeping through the take out bag by the time I got home. The rice was fine but the naan was extremely burnt and bland. We ended up throwing the food out after a couple of bites. I was hoping to find a replacement after Hot Peppers had closed, but this place definitely isnt it.

Firstly, Strict no for vegetarians..service was really bad. Person who was taking order, was jumping from one table to other in middle of the process. Don’t order any Biriyani. I really meant it. First of all, it is not Biriyani. It is just a flavored rice with very less meat. They will rip you off with sky rocketing prices for very very less quantity what they offer. We ordered chicken curry but what we got was bones with very little meat. We ordered three curries and all curries base(taste and texture) was almost same. Be careful when you order extra raitha, because they are gonna charge extra

We ordered take out on last saturday evening. we were told 40 min, fair as its a busy time of the day. we go for pick up around 45 min later, waited for another 20 and decided you know what lets just check the order, a veggie missing. Was frustrated not that they missed a veggie, was so because despite waiting so long order was not perfectly done. They had a party going on, but then just honestly say it will take 1 hr and ensure order is proper. great biryani!! average punjabi dish taste, can do way better as not many options around.
