We had so many signs to leave this place, but we stayed instead I really don’t know what happened to us. We checked the lunch menu before entering and the prices were reasonable. We got a table and the dinner menu was introduced to us. We asked for the lunch menu but the waitress told us that it was the same as the dinner menu. My friend went and got a lunch menu and we noticed that there were only a few items that were for lunch only and were less expensive. The waitress approached us and asked us what we want to drink so we asked for hot tea. The waitress asked us if we wanted cream and sugar with it. The tea was brought to the table and my friend noticed that the tea pot only contained one tea bag so we asked for more tea bags. By the way, we got charged $4 dollars for this warm pot of tea (not HOT). Another waitress approached to take our order and my friend ordered green curry. I ordered a dish with chicken and garlic and we asked for separate checks. When my friend tried the green curry, she started to choke and cough so hard because of the spiciness. The waitress approached and she offered to make it more mild, but when the waitress brought back the green curry, she told my friend that she should advice her how spicy she wanted the green curry. We told the waitress that we didn’t noticed any indication on the menu that the green curry was spicy. Normally, in other Thai restaurants, this is shown on the menu. On my dish with vegetables, I had to hunt for the chicken because there was hardly any in it. My friend’s green curry was a nice soup full of vegetables. When we got the bill we noticed that I got charged extra for the brown rice. This unacceptable food and service cost us 27 dollars. And at the end we were unsatisfied and hungry.

My father-in-law used to go to this restaurant in its old location often, so when we were up visiting we decided to try it with him. We were seated fairly promptly and were able to order our food soon enough, although I thought it was strange when I asked the waiter about the curries - he told me two that he liked, and when I picked a different one, I got a look that made it seem like Id made a bad choice! After ordering, we waited... and waited... and waited. There was one waiter (about five tables were occupied including ours) and it was next to impossible to catch his attention. We actually went over to get the water pitcher ourselves... only to find it empty. After at least a half-hour of waiting for the food to come (and my father-in-laws Thai iced tea to arrive), we finally were able to catch the waiter to ask when the food might arrive. He told us that it would be ready when it was ready (and not in a placating way)... and then gave the suggestion of five minutes more. So we waited that long, and when the food hadnt arrived (and the waiter had not returned to help any other customers in the room) we decided to walk out. My husband went to the kitchen door to let them know, and NO ONE WAS IN EYESIGHT! This was really disappointing. Wed heard great things and were excited to try them... but ended up having to go for pizza. How sad!

Of the many thai restaurants that I have been to, Khun Thon has earned t its place on my top 3 places to eat, ANYWHERE. I have never had a bad meal at Khun Thon and every single friend and family member that weve brought there has had glowing things to say about the food, service and atmosphere. On my last visit there this week, my friend whois a bit of a picky eater said that the Thai hot wings are "...the best #@&$ing hot wings anywhere!!!" If you are looking for an exclusive dining experience in a happening scene, you are looking in the wrong place (what do you want, its West Milford, people). However, if you want great ethnic Thai food (that means spicy ranging from "!$&@ thats hot!!!" to "is my face on fire?!?") prepared by a great cook, and served up hot with a side of great conversation with the owner "Nick" or his mother "Mom"; go to Khun Thon Thai. A culinary jewel in the rough. Try the satay, spring rolls, out the aforementioned Thai Hot Wings for an appetize, the Massamon Curry, Drunken Noodles, or Pad Thai anything at all for a main dish. To cool off your palate after eating the hot stuff I recommend the Thai Tea, it really works!!!

What a wonderful surprise in West Milford! The food here is some of the best Thai I have tasted. The Chilean sea bass is always great. Dont forget to order the sticky rice. It is a real treat.Nice spring rolls and satay, too. The presentation of the food is like what you would expect in a much more expensive restaurant. We tried this place about a year ago and have been back four times. Not bad, since it is a 35 minute drive from our home. I highly recommend Khun Thon. Service is very friendly and the owner/chef likes to come out and chat with the guests. Prices are very reasonable. Youll love it!

I moved out of town about 5 years ago and have eaten at many Thai restaurants since. I can honestly say it is the best Thai food i have ever had and by far my favorite restaurant. If you like Thai food ... spice... and flavor... Khun Thon Thai is the place to go.... believe me....I happily drive the 45min to go here... My favorite dish is their drunken noodles (extra spicy) with an iced coffee... Also, If you dont like spicy food ... tell them... my girlfriend hates spicy food and they will adjust to what she likes...with Thai food ... never assume its not spicy because its THAI FOOD...

Dear Diary, This place sucked. The food at this glorified chinese restaurant is a disaster. The curry is sub par and the noodles are tasteless. I guess that is to be expected when you live somewhere there are NO Thai people! Why do we expect the only Thai family in the area to operate a delicious eatery? Shame on us for being so stereotypical. If you have never eaten Thai food and you live in the area, try it. This is a poor excuse for Thai food, but at least you can open your palette and try something new.

Nothing special for welcoming. Never received a prompt seating arrangement. The restaurant has a cute ambiance; an ethnic tone to it. It may appeal to female customers. Service is decent, but not special. Green curry is good here. And, I really wish they could make good Massaman curry. Unfortunately, I haven’t been lucky yet to have other tasty dishes here. The staff is often very friendly, but not all the time. Presentation is kind of poor. Never had “wow, this looks good” moment yet.
