We were very pleased with our meal at Sapore. The restaurant occupies a historic home (it used to be a different restaurant) and features lovely rooms with great architectural detail. The service was attentive. The menu is extensive: numerous selections including pasta, pasta with seafood, risotto, veal, chicken and fish, plus appetizers, salads and desserts. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal: salads were fresh, with extra details like fresh smoked salmon, real parmesan and beets; pasta with an excellent bolognese sauce; veal saltimbuco was delicious with prociuitto & wild mushrooms; the calamari appetizer was unbelievably fresh and tender; and yummy desserts. There are a lot of tourist traps in Cape May, so it is refreshing to find a restaurant with great food that is not overpriced. We also really appreciated the ability to make a reservation online using Open Table. We will be back.

Went there on a Sunday night in July - had a wonderful meal and had the BEST SERVER EVER- Olivia. When got there and they told us that we would have to pay cash - since there was a problem with the Internet service that handles payments--- we hesitated about staying but glad we did in the end. Everyone was friendly and gracious. And the internet was operational by the time we finished our meal. Olivia ( our server) was a delight. She explained everything exceptionally well and gave us great dinner and appetizer recommendations. 2 of us had the Veal Carciofi - which was wonderful ! Calamari was good, too. It is a BYBO place, too. Decent size portions. They were also nice enough to give us a dessert "on the house" for the inconvenience initially about paying cash instead of credit cards.

We made a reservation. Upon arriving we were seated and served water and the antipasto. We have been there many times before and recommended your restaurant and food to all of our friends. Well we waited 45 minutes and our food never arrived. When we asked the waiter what was going on he said "Well, the staff has to eat". We were sorry but we got no promise our dinner was coming soon or ever. We left. That was our 32nd Anniversary dinner and my husbands birthday. Servers like that can make you lose business and unless we have a promise this will never happen again, and we will not be visiting your establishment again.

Just went there for my birthday. After reading all the wonderful reviews, I thought it would be great. It was awful. The food was salty and nothing special. They minute we walked in, they treated us like we were not main dining room worthy, so they sat us upstairs in an empty room (although it was a Monday night and there were plenty of open tables). The wait staff was strange, they look as if they were high, and they keep going into the bathroom (which was right next to our table). I got a bug in my wine glass, and when I complaint they shrugged and took it away. DO NOT GO THERE. IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY AND CALORIES!!!!

I am so disappointed in this restaurant. I called to make a reservation for nine people. I was told from the manager that because one of the people in my party is in a wheelchair, they can only serve us at 5:00. They cannot serve us if we come any later. I was surprised at the managers response. When I asked why... he said that he will be too busy and doesnt have time to let my guest in the handicapped door. I declined the reservation and will never be eating at this restaurant. Very upset with management and how they treat their customers! Dont eat here!

Wow, probably best Italian food in Cape May. Food was outstanding; the best dish was shrimp scampi risotto. I had the Branzino special over angel hair; excellent. All came out fresh and hot and seasoned to perfection. Salads and the seafood bisque were excellent, too. Service was pleasant and attentive. Restaurant was crowded (Friday eve in summer) and we did wait a bit for our entrees but it wasnt too bad..we enjoyed our wine and each others company. We ate upstairs which was quieter. Will definitely go back!

This is one of the best new restaurants on the Island. We have been there many times since they opened last year. The food is excellent and the service beyond compare. We have taken friends there several times and their opinion was the same EXCELLENT. They dont have a liquor licence but there is a liquor store right around the corner. This restaurant is in the oldest home in all of Cape May dating back to the 1700s. Do yourself a favor and make this one of your stops while in Cape May!

Restaurant italien plutôt typique, service aimable et efficace. Entrée offerte doffice, plats rapidement servi, goûteux, tiramisu excellent, 240 $ à six, soit 40 $ par tête sans vin ; il faut amener sa bouteille.

An absolutely wonderful restaurant. The seafood dishes we chose were delicious along with our soup and appetizer. Our waiter, Max, was very attentive and helped to make our evening perfect. Our table was very cozy and romantic. However, we also enjoyed watching families come in to enjoy the warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu was very accommodating. Be sure to visit Sapore while in Cape May. Bring your favorite wine to enjoy with your dinner.

I dont even know where to begin. The food was stellar, the atmosphere was elegant, service was superb, and the price was perfect. Very knowledgeable staff and friendly as well. The portions were big and they will accommodate you if you would like to change how it is prepared. If you like authentic Italian food in a romantic atmosphere, then this is the place for you.

Phony waiters.Nasty hostess with attitude. I ordered shrimp scampi risotto What I got was a pile of uncle Bens.with a hint of red sauce mixed in.No scampi.no risotto! The waiter said it was rice...and walked away. I will not return, and advised friends to avoid going to Sopore. Godmothers is 200xs better in all above categories.

The flounder with crab was amazing. The Shrimp fra divalo was good. Caesar salid was just okay. The eggplant rollatini appetizer was excellent. Server Redi was very good. Crab Capalini alla positano was excellent. Grilled calamari appetizer was great as well. Get reservations. Highly recommend.

This has become our favorite Italian restaurant at the shore! A family favorite is the Gnocchi Sorrentina. We love that they offer a complimentary glass of house wine and antipasti. We come here to celebrate almost all of our special occasions from memorial day to labor day!
