I was a regular at this establishment. its local, the quality is pretty good on certain nights, and the prices are decent. HOWEVER, I have never been treated so rudely by a particular server in my entire life! One night, I decide to order pick up for dinner. The woman who answered the phone was not only yelling at the top of her lungs in a condescending manner asking me "do you want it or not?" repeatedly, she openly sighed repeatedly in exasperation when I asked for a count of pieces and the total price! I wasnt on the phone incredibly long, and didnt feel it was uncommon to ask for the price and count of pieces if its not listed in the expired online menu! Furious, I hung up the phone, drove to he restaurant to have a word with the manager. The manager was extremely unaccommodating in the matter. He nodded, interrupted with a brief apology, told me he would discuss the matter with said woman later, but he has customers to seat, and finished with, "is that it?" smh. what choice did I have? I wouldve understood if the place was swarming, but when I walked in, I made sure I surveyed the place and it was practically empty! Why couldnt he have gotten one of the servers to seat them? Whatever. The woman, I suspect, is korean because I thought I heard her start to say "HELLO??" in korean. its a decent establishment, but expectations for service should be, at best, minimal. Be prepared to be treated like you shouldnt be calling to order food there.

This was a go to spot for my family and me when I was younger, way before the much more popular AYCE sushi buffets opened up. The novel of the carousel, the salmon tuesdays, and appeal of the cheap sushi brought my family back time and time again. However, after a long hiatus I took a nostalgic trip a few weeks ago to see if East restaurant stood the test of time. It did not. Despite an attempt to revitalize the place by performing renovations on the restaurant, it does nothing more than play a slight distraction from the mediocre food. Sushi sits on the conveyor belt in multiple stacks for who knows how long, and the quality is not much better than the buffets (and definitely not as fresh). Even with a spot next to the conveyor belt, I ended up ordering more off the menu than grabbing sushi plates. Although the sushi overall was okay, I will no longer be returning to what seems to be an outdated sushi restaurant struggling to keep its appeal with its conveyor belt. For the prices they have now, Id suggest spending it elsewhere (perhaps an AYCE sushi buffet or more niche sushi spot). TL;DR Sushi is very mediocre. I would suggest an AYCE sushi buffet or a more niche sushi spot.

Its a decent neighborhood sushi restaurant that serves generally low price sushi items in a fast food style 80s novelty conveyor belt system. I dont know this for a fact but they dont seem to stock their fish daily, which is why they have weekly specials pushing salmon every Wednesday for example. This implies that depending on what day of the week you go, you will find sushi fresher than other days. So depending on what I see, I would sometimes go for more vegetable or shellfish type sushi, or even go for cooked items. Another factor that affects food quality is how long the piece of fish has been sitting on the belt. Good thing is, they do throw the fish out after a certain amount of time, but you might unknowingly grab a plate of sushi thats on the verge... so in general, look for discoloration, its generally a good way to tell freshness. You can also order what ever you see straight from the sushi bar, same price and it usually tastes fresher. If you take note of how this place operates, you will have no problem finding this place convenient and enjoyable.

I was a loyal customers for over 10 years @ East, the service and food is OK, price is going higher and higher, waiters/waitress wants your tip very much, we understood. THEY CHASED or CONFRONTED you outside the restaurant if you missed 1% of tips. Do you like it? I do not. The last straw is we brought our friend there for a feast on 11/12/2016, and her credit card was compromised IMMEDIATELY after swiped in the restaurant. The card was used in China and Korea 3 times with $500 worth money 10 minutes later. We contact the bank they told us it was compromised at that point. We then called the restaurant, talked to someone (maybe an insider?) and I asked for the manager, there was none, and I never receive a call back that I asked for. Since then we do not go there. Be careful.

Horrible, horrible service. So i decided i wouldnt leave a hefty tip but a mere two dollars because the food took so long to come out and the waiter barely even came to the table and when the bus boy saw the tip i left he approached me and cursed me out. I explained to him i wouldnt leave a large tip for crappy service, so i left the restaurant, and he followed me into the parking lot and said he was going to beat me up but i just drove away. He was fighting with me in front of everyone over a few dollars. Really dont waste your time here with staff that cant handle their tempers and full of amateurs. Worst restaurant experience ever, spend your money somewhere else.

Wow, I have never ever had such horrible sushi! It was my first and last time there. Im not sure how the service is bc I took my order to go. I ordered a california roll which is very difficult to mess up and an Alaskan roll. The california roll tasted so fishy and the avocado in the roll was old. The Alaskan roll was just horrible. It was super fishy and it was huge. It was rolled so messy. I could barely fit the thing in my mouth, I had to cut it in half. The rice also tastes stale. The only thing that was OK was the miso soup and even that was lacking since it didnt have not one piece of tofu.

As someone who lived in Japan for a while and is quite picky about sushi, I find East to be a really good lunch spot. You can eat as much or as little as you want, and the prices are certainly reasonable. For ten or twelve bucks you can have a variety of sushi for lunch, and thats a pretty good deal. The food is consistently fresh, and on Mondays and Wednesdays respectively, the tuna and salmon is cheaper. For those who say that the service is rude - I have been going to East for two years and have never had a bad experience.

Latin sushi chefs, which isnt bad, but hardly authentic. Dirty work stations, inattentive staff. The bar is barely stocked and the Wasabi, even though I dont eat it, is like sauce instead of paste. It wasnt immaculately clean or especially ambient. Hard to resist instant gratification of pulling sushi off a conveyor, though. I agree with some other reviewers - if you want Kaiten, go to the one in Palisades mall. Just a better experience all together if you can ignore that you have to go in a mall.

Do yourselves a favor and go to the one in the palisades park mall its worth it. The service here is beyond horrible the servers just watch you like a waiting duck just to be shot. The whole sushi staff is Mexicans which is pretty typical which means at best the sushi is only at par at best the interior is a dirty tea house that is unsanitary that has not been cleaned for a year and the bathrooms forget it the door is barely glued on I dont know how they even have a liquor license
