Maybe its just me and my newfound dislike for Japanese food but I definitely tried to approach this with an open mind. The service was very admirable, I wouldnt hesitate to be seated by this staff again because they were very friendly and asked us frequently if we needed our drinks refilled. However, the wait time was definitely a bit too long for my liking. There was at least 15-20 minutes between the appetizer and theo main course. Also strangely, the soup, salad and appetizers came at random times. But what really hit this score was the food. The food is subpar to me and as a first timer, I wasnt exactly impressed by the Katsu Chicken I had recieved but my siblings and parents though otherwise (hence my bias). So long story short; GREAT service but a rather long wait to get subpar food left some things to be desired. I would come here again but Id take my chances elsewhere.

TAKE OUT ONLY. Great food. Service was a Nightmare. We watched our server leave with her purse after about 30 minutes of waiting, and no one ever came near our table or made eye contact again. Finally, after over an hour, I told the hostess we wanted to pay for our salads and leave. She said she would talk to our waitress...who had left!! They said things were almost ready. 10 minutes later, they had bagged up our sushi without even an apology. We had wanted dessert and drinks and other food but never had the chance to order anything else. So disappointed. Ate our sushi in the parking lot because we were starving, but will only order our from now on.

Taiko is our go-to "treat yourself" restaurant when the family is in the mood for something we dont (or cant) make at home. The hibachi dinner portions are generous and delicious. The waitstaff is very friendly and even when weve been there on busy nights, they seem to get around to the table for refills and check-ins. Other plusses: they give the kids nice take-home cups with straws and lids(!), the dining area is always super clean and you are walking distance to Fresh Market in Nags Head which has some of the best desserts on the beach. (If you leave room, of course.)

Im a local but had never tried. My wife liked it and took me this summer. When I saw the hastily taped-to-the-wall notes requiring an 18% gratuity by every customer, I walked out (what the heck was *that* all about?). A few weeks later, I heard they were gone so decided to try again, and Im glad I did. Some of the best soups Ive ever had. The sashimi has been excellent quality as well as the rice. Still working my way through the menu, but Im happy so far and I find the staff friendly and accommodating so far.

Sushi is very good, but most specialty rolls are fried. If that is what you like, then this is the perfect place for you. There are a lot of variety sushi combinations and overall taste is very good. I would have to say that this place is my second favorite sushi place of all time. The hibachi food preparation is also very good. The filet mignon was very tender and flavorful. The lobster is a little overdone, but still had good flavor. Will return next year.

Im down in Frisco, but this is one of my favorite places to take friends for a good meal if they like sushi. The service has been generally good, some of them are a bit quieter but nothing Id complain about. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and a new menu for more "common" Japanese foods that are just as tasty as the sushi!

This place is BY far the BEST sushi on the OBX. We love the staff, the food and the prices. Lots of fried rolls, BUT TONS of fresh raw rolls, always adding to the menu or offering rolls that arent on the menu. Fantastic!! As locals we have tried every where else. NOTHING comes close!!

Sushi was very good but the chicken katsu was the worst I have ever had. They microwaved it and the teriyaki was like water. Over all I would never eat there again. I ordered two items to the tune of 50 dollar half of it I took one bite and through the rest straight in the trash

More intimate setting than other places in the area, which is nice. Doesnt look like much from the outside nut the inside is clean and decorated nicely. The sushi was excellent, and the service was fantastic.

Excellent sushi, totally worth the wait. The specialty rolls were especially good. Our favorite were the Hurricane roll and the American Dream roll. The waitstaff were great with kids and very accommodating.

It was very good, the service is awesome. Checked on 5 times in an hour and didnt have to wait around for the bill for more than 5 mins. Sushi and sashimi was incredibly fresh.

Cant go wrong with the Hollywood Box or Vegetable Hibachi. Service is always fast and friendly. One of my top 5 favorite spots on the Outer Banks for lunch or dinner.
