Im writing this a week later than my visit as this is the busy time of year for work and I also was a little concerned that if I give them a higher rating as I did that it might make them more crowded by travelers but hey, considering the fact that if they are busy it will keep them doing the good job they are doing and thereby keep them in business I decided to go ahead and post my opinions. I live about 10 miles away and have several favorite places to eat with of course my most favorite being at home but every once in a while you need to give yourself a break and do something different such as have a meal out. Prior to my wifes passing there were several spots around that we liked to go on such occasions but this was not one of them. When I saw last year that they were under new management I decided to give them a try and found it to be a good decision as all those that were there did a real good job seeing to it that everything was as I expected and also they were willing to make suggestions as to something else I might like to try. This is being written not so much as to my visit last week but to a compilation of the 4 or 5 times I have been there in the last 7 or 8 months. Since a lot of the times I am out to eat anywhere I am alone now I have noticed a lot of places will either sit you at a tiny little table and then ignore you for most of your visit but not here, of the few times I have been in twice I was alone and I have no complaints whatsoever.

My husband and I Saw the under new management sign and decided to give it a try. We have dined here before under the old ownership and it didnt go well, so we were skeptical. We walked in and the place looks completely different, for the better! We sat down and had a very well put together waitress named Rachel. My husband and I both got dinner specials. He had smothered meatloaf and I had lobster ravioli with shrimp, scallops and crabmeat in a blush sauce. When we put in our order we were still very skeptical. Our meals came with soup, we had the homemade sausage gumbo (it was amazing), salad bar, it was full and fresh with a nice variety. Our food then came out and it was delicious! My husband couldnt finish his, but raved about how good it was and my seafood was cooked perfectly and presented nicely. The waitress asked if we needed boxes and we both nodded yes! In her next breath she told us dessert was included! We took home their homemade bread pudding, which was also a nice treat! All in all it was a great experience and we cant wait to return!

First time ever eating here and it was the worst experience. I order a broiled seafood combination and they ran out of shrimp and scallops, so I went with a very simple dish chicken tenders mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. You could actually press your finger on the chicken tender and the grease would come to the surface of the breading, the mac and cheese looked creamy but tasted like cardboard and the mashed potatoes tasted like 99 cent box potatoes. When I mention that I had a problem with my meal we waited another 10 to 12 minutes and no one came to see what was wrong. Our waitress was nice and pleasant. She took the meal off my ticket. Even with my meal removed we still paid around 43$ for a chicken cheese steak and prime rib dinner. Not what I call reasonable. The prime rib was tough and the cheese steak was dry and had no flavor. Not to mention it took forever to get our food. Wont be back!

The breakfast buffet was so bad the one time I tried it that I shudder whenever I think about it. Id never return for that. On the other hand, I miss the dinner buffet on Wednesdays -- the food was old-fashioned home cooking, there was a great salad bar, and the tapioca pudding was tops. But back to the breakfast buffet: The scrambled eggs were green, watery, and tasteless, the orange juice came from a can (and Ive never seen such tiny drinking glasses that were put out for the juice), the potatoes were horrible, formerly-frozen things, the biscuits were dry, there was no real butter, and the hot cereal was lumpy. I ordered coffee and WAS CHARGED EXTRA FOR IT! The menu and waitresses dont mention that coffee and tea arent included in the buffet! What a rip-off of classic proportions -- inedible food and a sneaky way for the restaurant to make extra money. Never again!

The Kountry Kitchen is not what it was when Joan owned it. We just went for lunch and the entire feel of the place is different and sadly I must say for the worse. Food was edible but bland, with zero seasoning and very little flavour. My wife had green beans that were totally unacceptableas a vegetable and had horrid little bits of meat that was supposed to be bacon The server, bless her heart, was way overloaded hopping tables. She was polite, friendl and obviously experianced but you could sense her frustration trying to hold up her end. I shant return any time soon and wouldnt recommend the place unless you are absolutely starving. Sad to see another local insitutuon sink under the waves.

Prompt and courteous service--food came out very quickly. Generous portions, low prices, and high quality! Hard to come up with anything negative to say. One reviewer said (perhaps half jokingly) that they only serve white bread. They actually offer a choice of breads for sandwiches. Our server put out a bread basket and was incredibly friendly and courteous. The specials are a great value. The pot pie comes with your choice of a thigh or breast. I had the fried shrimp basket special. What is cool about the specials is that they come with two sides, soup, salad bar, and a dessert. Hard to beat! And the dessert choices were varied, too!

I started going to breakfast there in 2012 & always ordered the same thing, banana pancakes w/whipped cream only. They were the best and most filling a short stack was more than enough. Then I guess its been 18 months - 2 years they started going down hill, I was even served plantains instead of bananas???, maybe they thought I wouldnt know the difference I dont know lol But all in all the rest of their food Ive ordered has been a big serving of fair food at a fair price. Oh I do want to say although almost every time I was there I ordered banana pancakes it wasnt always breakfast time.

Nice atmosphere, very old fashioned, friendly staff. The biggest cups of coffee Ive ever seen at a restaurant! The blueberry pancakes were good but a bit dense for my liking but had a lot of blueberries. Id come again. Best $5 breakfast Ive ever had! 2 large blueberry pancakes, 2 pieces of sausage, an extra large coffee, and a small orange juice!

Very nice. The food was delicious. You get so much you take half home for the next day. The prices are great for what you get. You get the salad bar, soup, your dinner plus desert and your drink for one low price. It is great. We will be going back again and again. I recommend very highly. You wont be disappointed.
