Would have loved to write a nice review of this restaurant but I didnt get the chance. Mind you, the politeness of the staff was a exemplary, almost comical. We asked to sit away from the door because of the breeze. But we didnt want to sit next to the kitchen door either. So we asked if we could put the 2 two-seaters together between the front door and the kitchen to make room for the 3 of us (its a small place). They couldnt do that. Ok, NBD, we sat by the kitchen. All good. But what bothered me was that their menu was unbendable. When I asked if we could have a kids size plate of pancakes he explained that we could not. Again, NBD, they are there to make money and I cant expect every restaurant to have a kids meal. I wasnt there to be thrifty, whatever the bull is, who cares. I just didnt think my 8 year old didnt need an adult helping of pancakes. Why waste food.l I was to have the Reuben. All good! Butwhen we asked if we could have the simple breakfast that was on the menu of 2 sunny side up eggs as boiled instead, we were told NO. Really? you cant boil an egg for my wife who is on a strict diet and didnt want her eggs fried with oil or butter? I asked to speak to the manager and the young server told me that he was the manager. We paid for our tea, coffee and juice and left. As I left I realized that the coffee sucked too!

LOVE the Heron so much that we try to stop the whenever were near Narrowsburg. We have also just driven from NYC to eat there. Excellent comforting food. They have the best corned beef hash ever had anywhere! This time, we had at the blue cheese deviled eggs which were very good. They make an excellent chicken noodle soup! I got the crispy eggs which were a little disappointing because I specifically asked if the egg yolks are runny and they werent. I couldnt really taste the jalapeño in the grits. Other than that, I have only had great meals here.

Can the most basic offering, a ham and cheese sandwich capture the senses and result in a culinary experience to remember, absolutely! The fries are fresh cut and uniquely spiced; heavenly. The patty melt melted in my mouth with the most delicious flavors. Bloody Mary mix is exceptional. The tin bar and décor create a warm and welcoming space. Everything here is done to perfection. The Heron is a must, no if ands or buts...

Everything about this place is phenomenal. Seriously. I had the roast chicken—it mightve been the best roast chicken Ive ever had—and my husband got the catfish. Also amazing. The jalapeño grits that came with his dish was really, really good. On top of that, the staff was super friendly and warm. I wish I could go here whenever I wanted to! You will not be disappointed. Trust!!!

Small intimate spot in a cute town on the Delw River. Best meals are breakfast and lunch, in my opinion. Food from farm to table a stong point with the owners. Hors d oeuvres are first rate, including pate platter. Fresh bread and unique sandwiches. Prices a bit high but good value, a memorable experience.

Heard they had homemade corn beef hash was excited until I tried it tasted four days old maybe it was good on the weekend but dont serve it to people On Wednesday and I never mind paying a higher price if the food is goodbut sorry to say I was very disappointed
