So today I decide to go to Anjappar for dinner with my family. Ive read many good reviews about this place. My relatives have been saying, "The food is amazing" or "Its a must go!" Yeah- not really. We got the menus and about 15-20 minutes later the waiter comes over to us (we were the only ones there). Now the food, honestly was trash. Starting with the appetizers, they were too crunchy, such as the Chicken 65. It will hurt your teeth, as mine did. Later, we ordered the "Anjappar Chicken". When we got the food- literally there were 3 pieces of meat and about 15 bones in the dish. I was ticked off. Now when we go, we will want some Naan or Rice. They claim that Naan is only served on weekends = B.S. What is this? Now, if i dont get my Naan, im going to flip. So we ordered the "Mutton Biryani". Now to make it look good they put two nice pieces of Mutton on top, and underneath, more bones. The biryani was white rice covered with orange food coloring. Thats junk. So we tried to finish what we could, just to fill our empty stomachs, and then left. By the way: Its a rip-off when it comes to money. The appetizers were $11 while the main dish was $15. The serving size wasnt even enough for a 5 year old. As for the service- SLOW. It was terrible! They could barely speak proper English (not to be racist) and I could not take it. They have no clue how to run their place or how to treat the customers. Atmosphere..... Well if it comes to music- Youll hear the same song for 24/7 until the next week. I went because I heard that it was a very good place. I decided to try it- didnt work out for me. After going today, I decided that i shall never go there again and I do not recommend this to anyone! I have been in the USA for 20 years, going from restaurant to restaurant across the states and rating many of them at their highest standards. Ive been to many indian cuisines and by far- this was the worst. Its a waste of time and I disapprove of this restaurant.

Ive had my fair share of Indian food, and this stuff is freaking good. Its better than freaking good; its freaking excellent. The restaurants decor makes me feel like an Indian prince with all of their weird shaped chairs and circular metal trays. I love it when they bow and introduce the feast in their traditional clothes and line of belly dancers... what? they didnt do that for you? Anyway, Id go here just for their parotta because its out of this world. It reminds me of a pie crust folded finely to create multiple layers of chewy and freshness. Just give me a basket of that with curry or paneer and Ill be all set. I came here for lunch and ordered one of the business set lunches. I highly recommend the South Indian one for the extra spiciness to the juicy chicken drumstick. To be honest, Id come here every day if I could, but for now, I will reserve this for special occassions. Maybe Id be bold enough to take a girl here on a date... like a 4th date. Garlic and curry is not exactly the best combination for a first impression.

Review is about the Anjappar Express on Green Street. Food: Never tasted such nasty food. I tasted in ALL the restaurants in Middlesex county, never had such a worst tasting food. Raw shrimp tastes much better than the dish they made out of shrimp. Yuk, yuk...Wish I throw up now. Price: For 20+ bucks, I got prawn masala and 4 chapatis. Prawn masala box is sooooo small, I thought they actually made the dish of tiger prawns and not regular shrimp. What I actually got is around 10 shrimp, under cooked, smelling raw. You can get more in quantity from any other place if you just ask for a sample to taste. Go there if you have few dollars (actually 5 or 10 dollar bills) to throw around. Not worth a single star, I wish I have an option to give negetive 5 stars. Business is when you provide a service and charge for that, what this restaurant does is not business, it is stealing. Cant wait to see them go out of business soon.

This Place is a true disaster..food is tasty, but the experience just takes off any further thought of coming back again. Extremely long wait times, personification of rudeness from the staff sums it up all..We had ordered a biriyani, an appetizer, a thali meals and a chicken fry. It took 30 Minutes of wait flat for each to come (we checked in at 1:50 and came out at 3:30, and were 2 people , 1 kid and 1 toddler)-when I asked for the cheque, the Chicken for the fry was reported as just enter the burner... This is not the first time for me in this restaurant, but this experience was unique that both me and my Wife are now sure that we will neither be coming here nor recommending this place. The lady at the front desk did make an attempt to convince us that the bad experience was due to the boys not knowing to communicate in English, but she agreed the language barrier has nothing to do with the attitude they displayed.

We wanted to try this restaurant quite for sometime. Finally we decided to go, on May 30th 2015. We had to for 5 to 10mins, unfortunately there is no waiting place. Firstly there is no buffet so we tried Mutton keema parota, mutton kottu parota, natu kodi chicken biriyani, chicken 65, anjappar chicken masala. I wouldnt complain about the taste but they are not par with other anjappar chettinadu restaurants. Mostly the prices are reasonable except one or two but the quantity is not near to any other south indian standards. Its definitely not worth for the price. Natu kodi biriyani was charged $17+, i havent heard a single south indian place in Edison charged that high price for that portion of the food. Service was okay, all the items came on right time..If they want to see the same customers again either they need to increase quantity or bring down the prices.. All the best.

I visited this place recently thinking this will have same taste as anjappar restaurants in chennai - but the taste is Vey bad. Second- they are very money focused. They dont serve what they put in menu.. for thalli they dont serve vegetables as they are claiming in their menu.. rice will be chill and so called payasam will be made on left over rice. Quantity they serve is 50% less. if you are visiting this place with 4 adults and one 3+ year old - they count them as 5 and charge 18% gradutity for the service that they dont deserve.. to enjoy your food with family better avoid this place ... I would suggest other restaurants in Edison area instead of this one.. last thing people who is in counter are aragoant- they dont look stern to your concern.. when we raised above concerns, the lady at counter responded as "yes that is how we operate"!!!!!

The food is good, but has limited choices for vegetarians and yeah, has a very peculiar Indian "CURRY" taste for any dish you order. Guess they use the same masala powder for all. One major turn off was for Egg Biryani, they pull chicken out of chicken biryani throw couple of boiled eggs and pass it. The same for egg curry - doesnt help the "EGGETARIANS" like me. They must come up with weekend buffets and more veg choices like Arusuvai. Their take outs earlier had more food, now a days, the boxes are getting airy and lighter by the day. Well, "HEALTHY CHOICE" I guess.
