HORRIBLE SERVICE... If this review didnt need a star , it wouldnt of been one... The guy ( cashier) he is a total RACIST...I have gone here several times and never had an experience until on this day... as like I have done- I call to place an order- guy took my order and said it will be ready.. as usual I got there - walked to the cash register to check out and they are like " No one called in that order" and so forth but the way he said it to me as if I was some street rat or a bother!!! He like " Go to the back of the line" I just walked out and said" I will never give my money to a business like this" when I explained to my husband the experience that I had- he said he did that to him as well before- but in reading the previous comments they had that same experience .. Listen, no matter how good the food is, if the service is bad it will put a bad taste in your mouth... I will NEVER turn a brown penny into that place- I will continue to go to Rt 22 BBQ, its quit a drive from where I am but the service is awesome!!

Ferry Street Barbecue is certainly a meat lovers dream. While I am only a partial carnivore, I cannot deny the fact that you get a lot of food here at a reasonable price. I got the 1/2 chicken which comes with literally half a chicken, fries, and rice. I wasnt even able to finish half of it but all of it cost $9! You definitely have to be willing to get messy here. Everything comes with the bones still in it and while I tried it be prim and proper about it, its definitely really hard to eat bone-in chicken with a knife and fork. The chicken itself was grilled to perfection and came with the breast pieces, wing, and leg. Service was a little slow at 6:00pm on a Wednesday but this seems to be the dinner rush hour so I suppose I cant really blame them. Hygiene/cleanliness is a bit iffy here as but I tried to ignore that as best as possible. Overall, if you love BBQ, you should definitely check this place out. You wont be disappointed.

Never again will i  go here!!!!!!   Come  here for dinner on a Monday night with my husband , there were about 3 tables  being served . Sat at a small table near the door but decided to move since it was cold to a table further in. Some guy who i guess is the owner tells us to move back to the small table. When i refused, he made rude comments and kept Insisting for us to move back. I guess he didn't want 2 ppl sitting in a table of 4 even though the place was empty. We simply put on our coats and left. The place has good food but nothing out of the ordinary  from other Portuguese bbq's.  I will never go back to this place to eat  !! And will sure tell everyone i know of how disgusting and unwelcoming this place is. The owner is a jack*** who doesn't deserve a single dime from any ones pocket.  If u want great food for the same price and a welcoming environment  McWhorter BBQ on McWhorter st & Green st.

Horrible customer service. Waitress asked me to sit at a smaller table since we were only 2, so we moved to the only small table available. Both the floor and chairs were very dirty at that table so we moved to the next smallest table of 4 chairs since there were so many available. She walked by and again asked us to move to a smaller table. I told her it needed to be cleaned and I would have no problem sitting there. She looked at me as if I was crazy and asked me to move there AGAIN, as if that was my only option or she is not serving us. She argued with us rather than doing her job and cleaning it when she had a moment to do so. I would never treat a customer this way. I got right up because I was not going to enjoy a meal in that environment. Disgusting attitude and cleanliness in there.

The owner of the place is a very rude short man that doesnt respect the customer. I happen to go out and grab a water bottle from my car, and bringing it in because I have done this before in other places and when it wasnt allowed I was kindly told that outside drinks werent aloud. Well this guy went nuts about it, I turned around and took the water bottle back to my car. What happen after I left he started talking behind my back about a miserably water bottle and my mother was listening to them, so an argument broke out because you shouldnt be talking bad about a customer. We walked out because this guy is an ignorant, who doesnt show respect for the customer who thinks hes above you and looks down at everyone because he thinks hes a big shot for owning a restaurant.

RUDE!!I come to the iron bound all the time to eat. Im an international traveler so I can say Im a foodie and know good service when I see it. There was a small older white man who was helping to serve and take orders, I ordered my food to go and at the last minute my sister said she would join me so when it came I said I will stay to eat instead. The man said I couldnt stay because I already made a to go order. The spot is a dive not upscale at all the place is full of smoke like the vents dont work, you leave smelling like you were cooking bbq for 12 hours. They mix pork and chicken on the same cutting board. Any way besides looking like they dont clean the cooking area, when I said I wanted to stay they kicked me out. Poor service you get no stars.

Very bad service. My party and I couldnt get a decent table for lunch today. The manager/owner (a little bald man) demanded we seat at a very small and uncomfortable table. He slammed his fist on the table in order to show us where we should seat. "YOU HAVE TO SIT HERE!", he said, in broken English. I had never seen such behavior before! Never!! No wonder the place was half empty at noon and all the employees looked either sad or tired. BTW, cleanliness is not their forte either... Stay away from Ferry St BBQ. Its total garbage!!! Unless you want to be mistreated or yelled at... The Ironbound is famous for its restaurants and deservedly so. One should NEVER waste time and money with such terrible place. Zero stars!

I love Portuguese food but I agree with all the reviews concerning the owner as a racist and rude person. My family and I came to eat on a Sunday and the owner let a few people cut my table. Apparently, men, especially white men, get more preference than a woman. Because Im a woman, and possibly because Im Hispanic, the owner yelled at me when I told him I was here first. Then, I told him he was disrespectful for yelling at me. And he continued to yell and say if I didnt like it I could eat somewhere else and motioned me away with his hand. He continued to yell at me in front of the entire restaurant. Do not give this man your business. The ironbound has plenty of great BBQ places like Market St BBQ
