We have been ordering from the Fire Pit in Hackensack for the past year and never had such a poor experience. I placed an order for two trays of a full chicken at 10:57am and recieved it at 12:02pm. Upon opening the bag, they did not even include any special bbq sauces, which we all look forward to. When I called to let them know they forgot to bring the sauces, they told me I had to specifically ask for it and would not offer to bring it to us. We are a business that orders for each employees birthday and are located across the street from Fire Pit BBQ in Hackensack. Never once have we asked for sauce and we have always gotten it with our orders. I live in Newark where there are multiple Portuguese style BBQ restaurants and you will never have to ask for any items as such; they are always included. Poor business techniques for long time customers. Left a 20% tip as well.

Im a southerner that now lives in Northern NJ. True BBQ has an arromam that you can smell for from miles away. The Fire Pit have the True smell of BBQ. I was very unsure what to get. If you grill pork chops over open flamesource the meat dries out quickly. Which then makes the meat rubbery. Chicken needs to cook low and slow. I was hoping to find some whole hog BBQ this place is more of a South American style grilled meat place. So dont confuse it with BBQ Its just grilled meat. Ive cooked BBQ for some well known people. I should open a true BBQ Joint. And bring the true taste of BBQ to the area. I suggest you have the Hamburger with Fries

First time ordering because Im new to the area. Had a taste for Portuguese BBQ. I usually eat Portuguese food all the time and this defiantly isnt authentic its the worst Portuguese food Ive ever had. First and foremost I dont think the people that are cooking the food are of Portuguese decent.. I ordered ribs they deep fried the in a deep fryer why would they do that.. Isnt ribs made on the rotating grill same as the chicken. The ribs didnt have any flavor full of fat.. They cut my ribs into cubes.. Which I didnt ask for. The shrimp I ordered had no flavor NEVER AGAIN!

The food is okay, not much to brag about. The ribs were really dry and they also dont put BBQ sauce on the ribs, you put it on. It makes sense for those who have a preference, but they were so dry that it needed that marinade. The workers are nice but the service isnt too notch either. Customers who came in after us got their food before our appetizer even came out. The Tuscan fries were okay, my friend loved it but Ive had better. The plus side would be the portions but overall, the quality isnt worth the price.

The Fire Pit serves Portuguese style BBQ, which is very different from the American BBQ style (please keep this in mind before ordering). They do provide BBQ sauce on the side. Just ask. I have ordered from Pit about three 4 times and the experience has always been good. Pros: Very tasty, lean/healthy meal, great price for the quality and quantity, they deliver, a block away from Hackensack Hospital. Cons: Small parking area. More details later.

Jesus, what a disappointment. This isnt BBQ. BBQ is tough meats hardwood grilled over low heat for hours. You cant cook BBQ to order. You cook it 12 hours ago and pray that you have enough customers when youre finished. If you did it right you will. This is meat thats been heated up on a grill, badly. You can do this on your stove top and it wouldnt be much different. Tossed it. Avoid.

While I have enjoyed Fire Pit when I sat and ate in the restaurant, I was equally disappointed with the food that was delivered to my home. The chicken was dry and the ribs were nothing but ends and mostly fat, the meat that was on the bone was dried and hard as a rock. I dont recommend ordering food to pick up or to be delivered from this restaurant.

Really good food, i become obsessed with the BBQ Skirt Steak until it became absolutely disgraceful. I gave it FIVE tries to fix and I will never go back now. I paid 20 dollars for steak that had to be less than one ounce, they had to start cutting it in half, never again. Very disappointed.

Excellent bbq food. Great simple menu with good variety at good prices. Tried this restaurant for the first time and had the pulled pork sandwich. Amazing! Good portion with home made fresh cut french fries. Cant wait to go back snd try the ribs. Nice and friendly staff.

I love Fire Pit! The food is always on point and they give you great portions. The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars is because Ive called at least twice in the past and they had absolutely no food left. But does go to show you that they are great at BBQ.

When the cavegirl in me needs a great tasting steak, I go the Fire Pit BBQ in Hackensack. My favorite meal is the skirt steak with the chimichurri. I also love the sweet potato fries. The guys working there are very friendly and will take good care of you.

This place makes a very delicious chicken. Its cooked over charcoal and when it is served, they add some spicy vegetables and you have the option of barbecue sauce or their own seasoning sauce. Its delicious. Try their homemade cakes. Great.

My food was really salty the rice didnt have no flavor I was really disappointed I will not go back there anymore. My son wanted to eat ribs so we go online and check this website out but it was a totally disappointing.

Amazing!!!! Not only is everything fresh but its bbq done so perfectly. And its reasonably priced. No the bbq sauce doesnt come on the meat, it doesnt need it, but if you do want it the bbq sauce is amazing!!!

Love the BBQ. Very savory and flavorful. Cant beat the price either. We went back 2 days in a row for dinner. Fed a Family if 6 and was eniugh fir leftovers the nect day. Highly recommend.
