5/2/15,,,lunch. 2 adults, 2 kids. a variety of foods, all good hot and cold where should be, came out in the expected amount of time. service on the floor and the waitress, Mary, all excellent and friendly. place was packed. Mary had a table of about 8 older teens, who sat next to us, they were very nice and adult one had allergy problems which took alot of Marys time to discuss with him, but she was very patient and smiling and accomodating. At one point she very professionally said, " Ill check in the kitchen for your questions and Ill be right back, need to tend to my other tables, and Ill be back." which she did. as a retired waitress who has worked in probably every Greek diner in Monmouth County since 1970, I know how food should be, length of time delivered, wrapped to go, attitudes, etc. I could find nothing wrong anywhere. I have read the above complaints and agree that this stuff happens. But apparently alot of good stuff happens to, or this diner would have been empty. A patron has every right to good service and food and every right to complain when it isnt. Owners should bend over backward for the custome. I would go back if I lived in the area. Wherever I travel I always ask where the nearest Greek diner is. And by the way, for those who complain prices were high, you are totally wrong. check prices in other places, fast food places and any Greek diner ....diner prices are always competitive and practically the same. Dont know what you mean by high.

Since re-opening after the fire, the food has become sub standard. I guess they had cooks that couldnt wait a year for the re-opening and had to move on. I have tried 4 times with 4 different food orders. The first was a burger. Full of grizzle and fat. I asked the waitress to bring something else. The next time was a cheese omelette with home fries. The home fries were not cooked well. The next time was a french dip (roast beef on a half sub, with au jous gravy). Once again, fatty, and veiny. I sent it back. Last night was the final time. I went out at 2 A.M. for a corned beef on rye with fries with cheese. I get it home, take a bite, and notice a smell that was nauseating. No, it was not bad meat. It was a urine smell. Nope, ya cant make this stuff up. The fries were not cooked, either. I called the manager to tell him, and he told me that was impossible, I told him I would take it back to him, put it under his nose, and let him decide how POSSIBLE it was! I told himn to watch his cooks in the back. Could be shenanigans going on in the kitchen, They gave me a credit towards something else. Maybe just a plain grilled cheese this time, and that will be the last. I tried different thingfs figuring maybe it was just what I had ordered that particular time. But no, its not the same at all, and way more expensive. I am done with Manalapan Diner. I would rather drive the extra mile to All Seasons in Freehold. I KNOW their food is still good.

I have come here for over eight years consistently. Tonight was my last time coming to this establishment. After being treated rudely all night by the waitress who seemed disinterested by us we got a wrong order of soup. Afterwards our waitress who has been rude on other visits seemed to ignore us. Soon after my friend found a hair in her food, blonde to be specific (none of us had blonde hair and the friends hair was tied up all night). After acting annoyed upon us telling her the manager came over and insisted that it was not their hair and it was one of ours, stuck in the middle of the burger. He pretty much acted as if it was a favor that he took it off the bill. When we came up to pay and I crossed out the tip box the owner told me that my tip should not have been affected by the situation and that she shouldnt suffer. I felt it was extremely rude for me to be told what I should be tipping and why. We were yelled at and degraded and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I have always had pleasant experiences at the manalapan diner and have come four or five times a month for years. This was my last visit. The customer is always right, no arguments. This was a degrading experience that left us all upset and disappointed.

We have been going to the dinner for over 10 years and were so happy to see it had reopened . Over the years we have sent them numerous people and told them to order their world-class crab cakes only to find they have changed the recipe and delivered cakes half the original size with a coating that made them tough and barely eatable. I believe they bought them frozen. The side dishes were very poor and half their original portion. It is obvious they have put cost-cutting over excellent preparation. We will not becoming coming back and will be calling our numerous friends to stay away. Its too bad management decided to put profit over quality.

A great place for breakfast, but loses two stars for professionalism from the owner/cashier. My check was $26.xx, and the waiter was very nice. She asked how much tip, since it can be entered on their system. I rounded up, and said $7. The owner said "is that it?" If the place wasnt packed and I wasnt in a rush, I would have dropped it to $1. Does she realize i gave 25%?? This tells me that she, the owner, takes a cut out of the tips received. Also, i got two pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwiches. One was perfect while the other was black and burnt to a crisp.

Went last year, stopped do to food and service, went back a few weeks ago, good until this past weekend. OBNOXIOUS waitress, brought out too wrong orders both mine! How can you screw up a cheese steak! Then she would walk away while we were still trying to order, I asked her after returning all my food how long she had been a waitress..." A long time" too long in my book! Time to find a new favorite diner...Oh and the manager stated he was too busy running the diner to come by and apologize, what sitting people? REALLY? Sorry will never go back...

When there on and off for the last few years, was never crazy about it. The last time I was in there was last week, ordered sunny side up eggs with bacon and soup both came back cold. The place was not crowded so there is no excuse, I found the waiter mentally challenged.Upon leaving I told the management and they insulted me by saying next time you come in Ill give you a free dessert, I told them take care of the kitchen and forget the dessert, instead of walking around take care of things. Will never ever return for sure.

Many years ago, this place was at the bottom of the heap. When the local cops dont go there for their coffee or lunch, it tells you a lot. The lady who bought it revamped the whole place. From the very nice decor, to the staff, and to the menu. In certain respects, it is a Jersey diner with all the bells and whistles. The owner and the staff are friendly, which is important to the locals spending money. Good food, good atmosphere, and decent prices. Portions are generous.
