I went here with a group of friends on a Friday evening to have dinner with a loved one who lived on the other end of the country. We were a large group so we called ahead, not to make reservations, but to simply let them know we had a party of 12 coming in. We were hung up on and snapped at that there were no reservations, which was not our intent, just a courtesy call. We were then given a table ment for at most 8 despite being a party of 12 when there were other opportunities for more reasonable seating. The bread given to our table was stale and dry. The food was disappointing, and tasted off. A few of our party recommended this place, and even they were saddened by the lack of quality. We felt like we were being shooed out and rushed despite our party ordering more food and drink. Our waitresses, though friendly, made too many mistakes with our orders. We requested split cheques and was given one. The cashier refused to split it, and held our party and our waitress hostage for nearly half an hour to have it resolved. Several members of of our party came down with some sort of gastrointestinal issue on Saturday and Sunday, our only common point was the Stateline diner. There were intoxicated teenagers running around inside and out of the diner causing disturbances. Rowdy from what I was told was a sports meet up. Our group has decided to find a more hospitable location with consistent quality for our dinner meets. Disappointing, fast food would have been more preferable. I love diners, this was a disgrace.

Visit State Line today with my son and a co-worker.Im from Texas.my co-worker from Florida.to begin with experience the lady at the cashier had an attitude.really bad.not even a greetings nor any kind of welcome expression.we said we were 3.she just walk out the cashier grab the menus put on the table and left.thats it..we had an Indian for waiter that we could not understand what he was saying.we place the other.when he came back from one side of the table was reaching over to handle the plates over.I order chicken marsala.big portion.but for me was just chicken with brown gravy...at checking out got the same lady with the rude attitude.not even a thank you .gave her credit card on hand.she out handle back with receipt and slammed on counter.maybe was the weather.or her hormones were acting up..never again ..

There was a lot wrong with this place, and only one good thing. I was given attitude when I asked if they accept visa. There was a bit of french fry on my seat. Only 3 place settings when there were four of us. Nachos were over cooked. It should hace been called chili with chips and a crusty piece of cheese. The soda was flat. I was given raviolis instead of meatballs. They gave us the wrong salad dressing. The meatballs were so large that onlt the outside had flavor. The bread on the crab cake sandwich was stale. There was not enough room on the table for four people. We had to take turns looking at the menu. I needed a refill on my water and flagged a waitress. She gave us a dirty look and said "Im not your waitress". Our waitress Fran was great. The food was overpriced.

Love the food, but the manager (or maybe an ownwr.NICK) has honestly yelled at me or people I was with 3 times! God forbid you want to send something back?!; He actually told us that its not his problem if the food isnt good.. That being said, we go there at least 3 times a month because the food IS really good. Its become a joke now with him. I will be looking for a good time to have my phone ready and actually videotape the catastrophe of sending something back! Last time I was there, he was seating this group of 50 somethings like us and I heard the man in the group saying loudly what a jerk the manager was! He said it clearly and loudly to be heard by the manager, I laughed out loud and had to approach him saying I knew what he meant. NICK SHOULD GO!

We got into NJ late diners are always open so we went here. Our server was talking to other servers a lot. So she wasnt able to bring food out when it was ready or fill drinks regularly. But food was good. I love diners when we travel up north, so we didnt make a big deal about tht. So we went again gave it another shot, plus it was so close to our hotel. That didnt hurt, and the server was great! But when I ordered the stuffed mushrooms. They were SO good, but after a few bites found a piece of hair in the crab mix on one of my mushrooms. On top of that I guess since its a diner mangers dont come to table when things happen. Not even to apologize. They brought out new ones but they still charged us for it. So needless to say we didnt go back.

Talk about having a massive meal selection. No wonder the food is terrible. The kids meals are adult size and over priced. Chicken parm was 2 small strips, had more cheese and sauce on a roll. Homes fries bland no seasoning at all. If you ever watch kitchen nightmares well you can personally experience it for yourself. Do yourself a favor and keep driving somewhere else. And if you have to stop, good luck if you love bland tasteless food then this is the spot for you. I know its a diner but damn at least try and serve decent meals. This place was voted best diner in 2014 and it seems its gone downhill since they have not won that award since. Will not go back. Nothing fresh about the food you get all is frozen, but then again not surprised.

The food is great but the breakfast come with home fries that looks close to mashed potatoes with some burnt layer underneath of it insted of a nice square chunky potatoes with onions and green / red pepper to give it taste and color so when other costumer see the waitress taking a delicious plate it will bring a hu gry costumer attention because something that looks tempting and good will sell itself, and another this is that NJ was tge first state in history to create a diner , it be nice if all diner give discounts to military, police , fire department and college students to bring extra revenues in the market, hope the all owners will understand my ideas no mater what country they came from.

WORST customer service ever! Came with my family of 5, "hostess" asked if everyone was here...I told her we had two parking the car...stood there a few minutes another family of 5 came in whom was seated immediately. When I said we have been standing here waiting why did you just seat them, she said bc they are all here! (As the the other two in my party walked in). I told her we would be leaving and I was given a dirty look and no apology. Save yourself the trip and go a mile down the highway and go to Majestic Diner...greeted with a smile and the food was awesome! I will NEVER go back to Suburban again!

Love this place. Salad not only huge, but actually has big chunks of cucumber, tomato, onion, cheese. For those that complained, about rudeness, you never have to wait for your food, you always have what you need, some of the staff will call ya hon, some wont talk so much, just give you good service. If you want someone to stroke your ego, then what are you doing in a diner. Beef always tender, cooked perfect, fish fresh, chicken tastes like chicken, never had a bad meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for!
