Ok where do I start. As I travel all over the country I try to eat one local BBQ restaurant in every city I got to. Norfolk, VA Mission BBQ First, trip advisor was only one who suggested mission BBQ I am a Midwest boy so I judge all BBQ by the beef. Either burnt ends, ribs, or brisket. I enjoy pork but beg is my passion. Now on to the food Beef brisket is thick and plastic fork tender with just enough crispy coating to add that extra flavor. I tried the suggested Texas twang sauce. Great recommendation by the server. Mac and cheese is ok BBQ beans- nice and sweet with a little meat. Well done. Corn bread is semi-sweet but not fluffy. Ok. Tall boy PBR. Now that is BBQ. I definitely recommend. I assume their pork is good, since that is what they do in the southeast. Their beef is good and that is how I judge BBQ in my reviews.

Hardly Edible First time eating from here...and the last. Pros - Great variety on the menu Cons - The food just tastes horrible. I tried the pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs, and brisket from the meats. As well as the beans and cold slaw from the sides. All of which were poorly seasoned. The ribs were extremely dry and appalling. I feel like all the food provided to create these dishes were done so with the intent not for human consumption but for outputting waste and quickly gaining a profit. I do not recommend this food to any person, or animal. Within five minutes of consuming this food, out of dire necessity for replenishing my calories, my stomach is upset. Waste of money and time eating.

Visiting from North Carolina and had not eaten at a Mission BBQ. Food was really good and atmosphere was on the money. But I am writing about the service I received on Saturday, June 24th. Specifically, the cashier was patient with us (as first timers), but what struck me the most was when I mentioned to her that I hoped I liked what I had ordered, she told me "If youre not completely satisfied with what you ordered, let me know and well get you something that does!" Perfect! I told the co-managers on duty about this excellent customer service and hope they put a little something in the cashiers stocking come Christmas time, because service like that is worth its weight in brisket!

The BBQ is outstanding and the employees are always friendly. I love that they support the military! My favorite sauce (they have at least 6 different kinds) is the smoky mountain BBQ sauce. The fries are seasoned to perfection and the green beans and collard greens (when they have them - they are seasonal) have a subtle kick and are absolutely delicious! They have seating inside and outside and the workers will check on you in both areas. Dont forget to sign up for their birthday brigade for a free sandwich on your birthday. Buy a souvenir cup and bring it back each time you come for 99 cent refills. Convenient location just down from Town Center and right off 264.

Ive only had the food a couple times since I live out of state and only get it when visiting. However, the food is delicious, you cant go wrong with anything you get. The best experience Ive had though was getting a gift card out of state since they dont offer them for purchase online. I emailed corporate in hopes of ordering a gift card to send to my family that lives in Virginia Beach and was put in contact with Keri. From the beginning she was absolutely incredible and so helpful making it possible for me to get exactly what I needed. Its rare to find a company that will do whatever they can to make sure you get the best possible experience. You rock Keri!

By far the best barbecue place I found in the area. Im glad they finally opened this place because now I know where I can go anytime Im not sure what I want to eat. They have a growing selection of different types of BBQ sauce. Some of them you never would have thought of but they taste amazing. The wait staff is extremely friendly, always welcoming anyone who comes in and knowing a lot of their clients by name. The only downside I could say about this place would be the fact that its a military themed restaurant that doesnt give military discounts. They do however do work with many charitable societies related to the military and other services.

Fantastic food, friendly staff, and a great cause to support. I havent had brisket so good since I was in Texas. The smoky sauce is sweet and smoky with just enough flavor to keep you pouring it on. The fries are fresh cut, but textured less greasy than fair fries. Nice selection of craft sodas and smaller beer brands, as well as major and fountain drinks, lemonade, and iced tea. The line was a bit long when we arrived, but we only had to wait a few minutes for our food. The workers were all super kind and helpful. If you have gluten sensitivities or food allergies, theyre sure to make your meal safe and tasty!

After some bad bbq at another local spot, I tried Mission BBQ. Staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered the 3 meat combo. The brisket was cut nice and thick (not super juicy) and had great texture and flavor. The turkey was cut the right way and it was juicy and flavorful. The jalapeño cheese sausage was delicious and had some snap from the casing when you bit into it. Bbq beans were on point, not overly sweetened, but with the right amount of spice. Washed it all down with a cold sugar Big Red, a Texas favorite. Very satisfied with my experience there, definitely going back!

I have usually enjoyed Mission BBQ. Ive had the pork ribs, the pulled pork sandwich, even the Chicken. All are an 8 to 9 in taste and BBQ smoke flavor. Last evening I tried the Beef ribs, or should I say Rib. For $16 you get ONE rib. Ill admit, it was tender, a bit dry but thats why they give you a monkey dish of au jus and smoked well. The rub they use should be offered as an add on, and at that price, no charge. I dont know what marketing strategist came up with the portion idea, but unlike the rest of the menu, the BEEF is not a good value.

Great BBQ spot! Delicious food, quick service, and a unique atmosphere. Most of the meat has been smoking for several hours and is prepared after you order it. The cashiers are friendly and helpful. There are plenty of meats and country style sides to choose from, along with a variety of BBQ sauces each table. The orders are called out as they are finished being prepared. The wait is very short for both ordering and waiting after you order. Id recommend any fans of BBQ to come and give Mission BBQ a try.

I had the brisket sandwich. It was OK, nothing that was to impressive. Coming from Texas, and eating and making my own bbq, it is hard to say that this is worthy of more then 3 stars. Again this is good for what Ive had here, probably better then most bbq Ive had here in Virginia Beach. The brisket was will cooked, but lacked some flavor. The multiple bbq sauces really didnt stand out. I will say the Texas sauce wasnt anything Ive ever tagged in Texas. Decent bbq for what it is though.
