This used to be my familys favorite Indian restaurant in nj. Not any more. We will never go there ever again. The service was absolutely horrendous. Believe it or not, it was the manager who was the problem. He is a crabby old man who picked out my family to bully. We only finally got our naan after the owner took the basket that was coming our way, removed the naan from the basket to put it with another basket, and delivered it to another table. Mind you we were the first family in the restaurant on fathers day. When our naan finally arrived, it was 2 meager slices (everyone else gets 4. The other table of 4 people got 8 pieces). The man was very rude and naturally the other waiters followed suit. Although the food is decent I do not recommend this establishment as they do not treat customers like they want your business. Cant wait for this one to fail like the rest and meet the new owner.

The food here is excellent. A dont miss place. They replaced the Ginger Indian restaurant which was So-So. I have come here a few times so far and each time has not let us down. My wife and I love Indian food. The flavors are robust yet gentle and each dish presents its own symphony of taste. Also a very nice ambiance. The kitchen is visible yet tucked away in the corner so you know it is fresh and how it is cooked. It is really something to to be eating at the buffet and yet to here all the cooking going on in the back. And you can greet the cook as you are getting your tasty delights. Owner is very congenial and friendly. I would highly recommend coming here if you like indian food. Different items on the buffet each time you come. And freshly updated as the food is always moving. Not sitting there. This is our go to place at this time.

This is my absolute favorite place to go out to eat! Not just my favorite Indian...my favorite anything! The owner and staff are super friendly and very nice, and the food is the best every time. We usually get something from the tandoori oven, and a vegetarian dish of lentils or chick peas, and all of them are excellent. Our favorites have been the Angare Kabob and Lamb Boti Kabob with the Chana Pindi or Raj Tajkawali or Raj Ki Dal. For an appetizer, we especially like the Vegetable Pakora and the Mushrooms. Finally, the prices are beyond reasonable. You can afford to get an appetizer or a bowl of soup (also excellent), with the Naan Bread, and whatever entrees you want, and still be able to bring a very nice bottle of wine for far less than many other places. Please try Shlokka! You wont be disappointed.

Fantastic food. Easily one of the best Indian restaurants Ive been to. They also have an excellent vegetarian selection. The samosa is amazing, and my lentil curry was delicious. My dining partners expressed similar feelings toward the food. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the service was pretty bad. On a very busy Friday night, they had a single waiter working. There was also a host, but he was doing little to help. Though my heart does go out to that waiter since that must have been hell, we had to actually get up and ask for service twice. Maybe it was a fluke and everyone had called in sick or something, but I dont really care because the food is so good.

Came here for the first time this week and loved it. My husband frequents their lunch buffet and this week I was able to join him. There are at least 10 different dishes to try plus appetizers, dessert and an array of sides for dipping. You also get fresh naan. I probably tried at least 6 different things. My favorite was a veggie potato/green bean dish. Just the right amount of spicy. I finally got to try paaner which is also something Id like to eat again. I highly suggest trying the buffet. Its a great price and the quality and taste of food is excellent. Not to mention, the service is great. Everyone was very nice.

This has become our go to place for Indian food. The service is always very attentive and the staff is willing to take the time to learn you preferences and guide to to the best options. Foods is always very tasty and fresh. Naan comes straight fro the tandoori to your table. We have tried many different items and have been happy with all (Samosa, chana masala, lamb korma, pani puri, hariyali kabab, raj ki dal, chicken masaledar and more!) My kids look forward to visiting and the owner always has a special treat for them. Plus it is BYOB!

The food was good, the atmosphere is excellent, and the service is great. My only complaints would be that the portions are small compared to other Indian restaurants at comparable prices, and after ordering my lamb Vindaloo "extra spicy" what I received was a very average spice level. Im always prepared to not get Vindaloo as spicy as I want it because Im ordering Indian food in America, but every other place Ive been to has fulfilled my request for some serious heat. Nonetheless, a good dining experience.

From the moment you enter you are treated to a warm atmosphere, beauty of space and design. The aromas of good food cooking fill this room. The menu offerings are just right. Weve now been here several times and highly recommend you add it to your list. Our Mulligatawny soup, Tandoori vegetarian platter, Tandoori Shrimp and yellow lentils were excellent on this trip. We intend to put Shloka on our "A" list and will try to experience each of their menu items. An excellent dining experience.

Let me start this by saying, I really dont like Indian food. I have tried it multiple times and multiple dishes, never liked any of it. So today I have it another shot at this restaurant. This is the best Indian food I have ever had. Still not my favorite cuisine and I wont go out of my way for it but if I am getting Indian, then this is where I will be going. The staff is awesome as well, he helped me figure out something that I would like and I never had to ask for more water.

This place is top notch amazing! We have been to many Indian restaurants and this one is by far one of our favorites! The owner is very nice and attentive. He suggested that we try the tandoori mushrooms as an appetizer, they are incredible and hands down the best mushrooms we have ever had! We live 45 min away and already have been there twice since our discovery in early September. Try this place out and I promise it will become one of your staples!

Formerly Ginger restaurant, Shloka is under new ownership which has brought with it some very fine food. Bharat Kotian is the new owner and he brought with him an excellent Indian chef. We went there for the lunch buffet and were totally satisfied with the over ten different dishes offered. Daal Mahkhini, chicken tikka masala, samosa, as well as assorted vegetarian dishes. Dessert is included. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I started coming here since the taste of an Indian resturant that I used to go has changed. The food is so authentic and fine. I loved the gravy here. Two best Indian restaurants in Freehold # shloka # Aarzu ( another Indian resturant I like)
