Update: Thats it. I am truly pissed at this place. I got really ill for the 2nd time coming here back to back. I used to love this place as you can see by my reviews. Not so much anymore. When I tell you im sick, I am ill as hell. Almost wanting to report this food to the FDA for inspection. The chicken was good when I was eating thats for sure, and fries werent bad either. But 100% its from them as its the last thing I ate. I absolutely this place has gone down the drain. I will never eat here again as this is something that hasnt happened just once. Im done. Couple issues with the first day opening. You would think it would be more streamlined but they are super slow at cooking. 30 minutes in line waiting for the cash register is a little rough. They have really good fried chicken as they did in the 90s. Just need faster service, ALOT FASTER. Let me tell you about the people that work here, cleaning table as people are sitting down. Really?? So rude and unsanitary. The line is super ass long. And did I mention how slow they are?? The manager Jose when I was standing by the drinks didnt even say excuse me. The problem is I dont think they were expecting that many people. Ok about the food, THE CHICKEN is an absolute delight. I previously rated this 3 stars probably because I was grumpy and hungry and didnt like waiting for all the people. However, getting it I ate it outside just because too many people inside. And their baked apples for a SIDE is ridiculous. Tastes like the inside of a McDonalds apple pie without the crust. I would def recommend it for us baby boomers since it was a childhood favorite.

So after risking our lives with the tail end of our car hanging out onto route 1 North traffic, because the drive-thru line moved an inch every 10 minutes, we were turned away at the door at 9:45pm, when the sign said they closed at 11pm. I went to open the door and the door was locked. An employee came to the door and informed me that they were closed. I said, "But online it says you close at 11, and it says it right here on the door." She replied, "The manager said we are closed, but the drive-thru is open." And she did not let me in. We went to sit in the drive-thru line, and noticed two people proceed to the door, and the manager opened the door for them and let them in with no problem. I got out of my car and asked if I can talk to him, he ignored me at first.. I had to knock on the door a couple of times for him to even acknowledge me. I asked him why I am being turned away, but those other two people were allowed in. He said, "They were here before I put the signs up." I said, "No, they were not, I was turned away by another employee." So he basically huffed & puffed, shook his head and was not happy to let me in. I declined to go inside the establishment, and told him I would be writing a review on how I was treated. Its seriously sad how great customer service is a thing of the past. All I wanted was some good ole Roy Rogers chicken & they made the experience horrible. By reading all of these other reviews, Im happy I did not go inside and eat if it is not sanitary and the food is gross anyway. We went to POPEYES!!! The service was amazing, chicken was great & the employees were freaking awesome!!

Uh-oh. Got a little management problem going on here. I only ever get the RB, and it tastes like I remember. Was thrilled to see RR come back. But every time Ive come here over the last 6 months, its chaos. At all hours. Even when its not busy. Im reading some of these other reviews and betting theyre more true than not. My experience tonight: my RB was sliced at least two or three times as thick as usual, making for a very chewy sandwich. The young manager was working the drive thru alone, with not another employee in sight. While waiting on me another employee did show up from somewhere, with an attitude. "Whadda you want?" Manager says, where were you? Employee is like all shocked and innocent - I was just in the back! Whatever could be your problem boss? Its certainly not that I wasnt doing my job was it? Are you accusing me?Thats not word for word obviously, but you get the drift. This manager was not authoritative enough or trained enough to deal with the smart ass kids working for him. Im sure they were walking all over him. I dont mean to criticize the young man, he was working his ass off. But he obviously was not in control. This place may be getting a reputation. If the owners dont watch it, they will lose all the good will nostalgia has brought them. Remembering happier times only goes so far when the customer keeps having bad experiences in the present.

Waited about 40 minutes in the drive thru around 7:45 PM on a Sunday evening, ordering just two roast beef sandwiches with pickles and bbq sauce. Simple order with only half a dozen cars in front of us. Even told the person at the window, "with bbq sauce and pickles." When the sanwiches finally came she asked about condiments. For the third time, "Bbq sauce and pickles." Window person threw in a few packs of sauce and two sides of tomato and wilted lettuce. When we were finally able to get the window persons attention again they swore that there were pickles in there. When we proved there wasnt they said "then we must be out. Sorry." They couldnt tell us that in the first place? My gf went inside to see if there were any at the fixins bar inside (there werent). The sanwiches were soft, soggy and very disappointing. When we went for lunch last week the food was good but during the long wait an employee was spotted handling French fries after touching her hair. Several of the customers started making a fuss and the manager made her go wash her hands. Unfortunately I cant see this place still being open by the end of the year without some changes.

Had a long day at work yesterday and was looking to eat some good chicken to bring home for dinner. Went thru Roys drive thru and asked for a 3 piece all dark meat. Got home looked in my box and got a thigh, wing and breast. Was ok with it until I took a bite of the wing first. Wing was over cooked and dry like it was sitting under the warmer for two days. Took a bite of the thigh thinking it might be better...same as the wing, just as dry. Took out the breast and it looked same as the other 2 pieces. Cracked it open and was the same, dry, over cooked and just threw out my whole dinner. This was my second time there in 2 months and the first time was similar service but the chicken was not as dried out and thought Id give it another chance. Not the same delicious taste I remembered growing up as a kid. Last Roys restaurant in No. Brunswick about 8 years ago is sorely missed. Roys in Edison, NJ...not going back and recommend not for you to waste your time and money especially reading the other reviews.
