This place used to be better (I mean 2 stars better). Now, its just pretty bad Indo Chinese takeout...I mean there are good Indian Chinese on Oak Tree Rd. This isnt one of them. Today I finally quit Calcutta Chinese Restaurant after simultaneously puking and diarrhea sessions that me and my guests went through from eating their food. This was the absolute worst food experience we all went through. Do not eat! When I called to complain the so called owner was unapologetic and was accosting to me as if this was any other non indian place I wouldnt make such a big deal. Mind you this Indo/chinese man has had shown hints of racism towards other indians in the past, but he truly showed his colors to me. This place is abysmal. Youre better off eating from a trash can than consuming the "food" they serve here.

Drove 40 minutes just to eat the crab Rangoon and all the other fresh dishes made here! This is a family owned restaurant that serves delicious, reasonably priced food. They have a large variety of food that isnt super greasy. The mix of Indian and Chinese cuisine is so different from typical restarautns in the area. Plus I dont love Chinese food because loaded salt but this place doesnt do that at all. Its perfectly seasoned. Servers are very nice. Atmosphere is great for a quiet meal out. Definitely recommend crab rangoon, Chile chicken, fried rice (full of flavor)... and basically everything on the menu. We have ordered catering from here too. The food always satisfies our guest. Love this place, give it a try! You wont regret it!!!

I ordered food from this place and after 45 minutes it arrived at my door. Everything was good until my friend found big cooked cockroach in his food (chicken dumplings)! I called this place right away and explained the hole problem. And the answer was you did not order from as!!!!! What? They refuse to return my money and just hang up on me several times! Next day I checked their inspections records online and this is not a good looking records! You can see it your self! Dont deal with this place, just simply order some were else!!!!! This is not Taiwan and we not going to eat bugs here!!!!!!!!! Horrible experience!

This place is near my home and continues to be my go-to takeout place when Im too tired to cook and when Im in the mood for some cheap but excellent Indian-Chinese food. In my opinion they have the best Chili-Paneer around town. The sauce is soooo tasty. Also their fried chicken wings are delicious and you get so many. The rest of the menu is great as well with a nice variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare. Best bang for your buck overall. Also a plus is that the owner is really friendly. Try it out and see for yourself.

“ok place, not so great...” heard about this Indian-Chinese place from some friends, though it would be worth to go from Morristown to Edison. but this place is not that great. it more like to go place. Taste is good but not like authentic Indian (i heard it is, but not). we tried momos, chicken chilli, egg role, schewzan rice, Hakka noodles, schewzan chicken. Schewzan rice and noodles were good… service was not that good. for to go-definitely recommended.

Damn. I have no idea why Trop is so good but it is! The service, the food, the prices.. all on point (on point = well executed). Lunchtime = cantina style! Cantina style is mexican for going up and ordering at the counter similar to cafateria style. Note that burritos are only served during lunchtime (even though its one of Trops best items). I suggest the Mojado Burrito (~$10) if you like it wet and flavorful.

The ONLY place I would get Desi Chinese from. Love the ginger lamb, the chili chicken, all the seafood entrees. The spicy chicken wings are to the best I have ever had. Bar none. Small and cozy. I drive up from Lawrenceville to get take out from Calcutta. Highly highly recommended. [Edit 11/5/2014] Still the best Desi Chinese food around, Unpretentious and GOOD. Only good things to say about this place.

Food was okay.. But high on salt. Intersting and funny part is thye did not had chilli vinager or other condiment except smelly red chilli sauce. When I asked about the chilli vinager, and old lady (which I guess was the owner) said its too costly.. I mean really?? Come on its $1.99 a bottle and its costly? Give me a break.. Dont keep your expectations high or even average.

Lousy ambience, lousy food. It claims to serve the kind of Chinese food served in Calcutta - in Tangra. Rd. I have eaten many times in Tangra, but this is far from it. On a redeeming note - their Hot and Sour soup was fantastic ! The Chilli Chicken was nothing like the dish it is modeled after. In fact it was a very poor imitation of General Tsos Chicken.

The food here is great consistent quality and consistently good - everything I have tried has been pleasing to my palette as well as my family. I have pretty much introduced everyone I know to thier food cause it is that good. Kwong and Menth are doing a great job...keep it up and thank you!!!!

Not bad but its not the Best chilly chicken ever. You want the best chili chicken go to tasty bites. Just saying. Typical Chinese joint nothing fancy got also had a shrimp fried rice that sucked. The shrimp was like pasty. Very weird.

and off the beaten path too!!! This is not your regular chinese food as it has the unique Calcutta taste. And its really authentic as well, the owner and all the chefs all come from Calcutta too! Well worth the trip!!!

This restaurant has the best chilli chicken and house fried rice. The owner was very polite and served food in time. I will definitely go back again. I have felt the food was reasonably priced and portion was good.

Is more Chinese than indo Chinese. So, dont make that mistake. Name should not fool you. In terms of spicy, normal spicy means, 8 or more green chilies in one dish with no good taste whatsoever.

Was just passing through the area and found this place on google. Awesome Hakka food for the price. Portions were large and we were served quickly. Will be our new go to place for desi Chinese

very very good food. It is a small place, so we usually get take out. It is much much better than all the other Indo Chinese places I have eaten in NJ. Loved the fish manchurian.

Know your tastes. Order the stuff you like. I recommend the manchurians, and chopsuey and the fish dishes. It is calcutta after all. keep rolling
