Zagat must be slipping to give this place a 23 out of 30. But! Since I have only eaten breakfast here, I will restrict my input to that. There are much better diners to be had certainly for breakfast in this part of NJ. Pros Surprisingly good coffee. Quite frankly the best part of the Pop Shop breakfast. The decor was what I would consider acceptable as an avid diner goer. The colors are bright which is nice. Its also a place to go with children where it is acceptable for them to be rowdy. Cons Service - Slow, not attentive. We were seated at a clearly dirty table surrounded by clean tables. Food arrived cold (so cold in fact that the toast which was nicely done had time to turn rock hard from the water evaporating). Took about 10 minutes to get the check which we went and fetched ourselves. Food - Everything but the coffee and toast (which would have been good if promptly served). The pancake mix probably starts off dry or with most of its liquid content as water. The pancakes are then overcooked to the point where you must moisten them with something....anything. Its one of those foods that steals the moisture from your tongue. The farmers market omelette....was chuck full of peppers and under cooked eggplant (hard egg plant). The eggs in general managed to be overcooked there. If you like good scrapple, dont bother. Scrapple here is the cheap kind chuck full of filler with little spices. Prices- Google has this place listed with 1 dollar sign. In diner world I would give it at least 2. After we sent one persons entire meal back we were astounded to find that the others meal managed to legitimately add up to $20. This is mostly because the sides are incredibly expensive, which is particularly discouraging given that the sides are for the most part terrible. Its also a place to go with children where it is acceptable for them to be rowdy. Rowdy to the point where the parents only stop the children when they get too close to the kitchen. As you can see a pro or con depending on what you are looking for. I myself like casual diners, which is different from diners with children running amok. Would have liked to try the milkshakes. Unfortunately I will not be returning or recommending anyone give this place a try for at least a year. Perhaps they will deal with the breakfast issues by then.

When we walked in we didnt know if they seated us or if we seated ourselves, so we asked the waitress that was just standing there in her own little world. She snapped back to reality and asked us if wed like a booth or table. We asked for a table near the window because it was a nice day and she said that no servers were on this area but she sat us there anyway which we were thankful for. Our waitress was very nice, she made us a fresh pot of coffee, and was very helpful recommending things off the huge menu that she herself has had. The only thing I didnt like about the service in general is that my waitress had 5 tables to wait on while 6 young servers were just hanging out and joking by the bar area. There was enough workers to share the load and only 2 waitresses were running the show. It just didnt seem fair and actually annoyed me because the patrons dont pay to have young employees stare at them and watch them eat but wont refill a drink. The food was good but left something to be desired. It was more novelty than filling. I had a belgian waffle meal with scrambled cheddar eggs with sausage and it was pretty good. The eggs were okay but the waffle and sausage were great. My sister had the bananas foster french toast which was okay but needed less nuts and more caramel. Definitely wasnt what we expected but still pretty good. My dad had eggs and bacon. He said his potatoes couldve been crispier. My boyfriend had crab fries and fish and chips. He said it was okay, not great. We got the fried cheesecake which would be better without the bananas and the chocolate poundcake which was okay. Id go back to try a soda pop and the collingswood fries but nothing really else....

We saw that this place was supposed to have the best grilled cheese around so my husband and I took an hour plus drive to see what all the fuss was about. We are still wondering. For a place that is famous for grilled cheese, you have got to be kidding as my dog could make a better sandwich than the one that was given to me. It was cold, the cheese was not even melted, the bacon was not cooked and it had a taste of being grilled in rancid oil or something. I sent it back and it was probably microwaved or something as the bread was warmer but it only made the rancid taste worse. My husband had one of their hamburgers and again, average at best. The french fries were cold and soggy. The music was so loud and annoying that I cannot understand why anyone would want to listen to Hermans Hermits while they ate a gross sandwich. I understand that families love this place but seriously doesnt Collingwood have any other place to eat??? We did want dessert but even though what we wanted WAS listed on the menu, we were told that they did not serve it any longer so I think I will forget about this place forever. I do understand why Bobby Flay won the throwdown

We USED to love this place but have increasingly had disappointing food and decreased value overall. There are no longer refills on Cream Sodas (i.e. Cream Cherry Coke, etc.), the last foot-long hotdog which we ordered we actually measured as 8 1/2 inches (kid had a ruler in his backpack), and on yet another occasion we ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast and it was VERY dry. Its supposed to have a cream cheese spread and caramel drizzled on top, but both items were missing this time. All it had was the bananas and nuts. And, these problems are in addition to the regularly recurring situation of items missing from your plate when you receive your food (no pickle spear, cole slaw, etc), which we were rather used to because the wait staff apparently either doesnt bother to check the orders before delivering them or just simply are not employed there long enough to learn the menu. This USED to be one of our favorite restaurants for comfort food and the quaint, 50s diner atmosphere, but it seems that all they care about now is their profit margin, what with the short cuts or missing items which now seem to ALWAYS be an issue.

I was introduced to The Pop Shop a few years ago and have loved it ever since. The staff are always nice, food comes out quick, and the décor is so cute. I am on a strict diet so Ive only tried their fried pickles and fries, but that was enough for me! I recently just went there with a gf for a "pickle day" with an even stricter diet and they were able to accommodate my dietary needs! They were able to show me the nutritional info needed, without hesitation, so I could accurately measure out my food. I forget the servers name, but she was amazing, as they all are. She even caught something on my friends dish that she shouldnt have had on there which could have caused an allergic reaction. Cant wait to go back. The shop and the team that works there are one of the best Ive ever seen! Thank you Pop Shop! My gf and I LOVE you!
