Ive been coming here for many years and my opinion has always been that this place is tops, best seafood in Beach Haven. But tonight soiled the reputation. My crab cakes were burned on the outside, cold inside. An ear of corn had spent too much time in the water. The rest of our party of seven were not much happier. The Jambalaya was sweet, the teens salads had little dressing, the other crab cake dinners suffered from the same malady as mine. Our waitress had no clue about serving wine, thinking a generous pour was desirable; so much so that when she reached the fourth person there was only a dribble available from our new bottle. Three of our party were new comers to the Black Whale, and I was very embarrassed. Over cooked, cold food is almost always the servers fault. Perhaps I jump to a conclusion but a wild guess says that she decided to take a smoke break while our food sat under a heat lamp. If your organization is as good as I hope it is you can trace what happened tonight and fix it; (party of 7, 9-24-15, about 8 pm. Best food on Long Beach Island period. The bartenders are awesome, the food rocks, the staff in general is really great. Only downside is the wait to get in. Its extremely popular. Rumor has it theyre moving to a new larger location across the street soon. I really hope they do. Theyll pack almost any size venue... Not only is the seafood excellent, but the Burger is in my top 10 as well!

My boyfriend and I went there for our 9 month anniversary dinner. The bar was hopping and fun. Dinner was incredible. I had the porterhouse steak, cooked to perfection and he had the bacon wrapped scallops to die for. The service was impeccable. Our server Lindsey was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back and recommend it to friends and family.

Decided to come here for lunch after a little fishing. It was pretty busy, but we got seated almost immediately. The appetizer and drinks were very good, but the fried food was not very good. It took us ~45 minutes to get our food, people who were seated after us got their food way before us. It seems like it might be a better dinner spot. Fresh clams though.

My family of eight went to this restaurant and, after being quickly and courteously served by a very gracious waiter, unanimously agreed it was one of the best places we had eaten on the island. The menu features a wide variety of fresh fish amongst a litany of other Jersey Shore staples. I would definitely recommend stopping by while youre in town.

Having come here for years, I was disappointed at this place and will never return. The food quality was poor, the staff was rude, the place was dirty, and no one seemed to care about it, instead taking it out on the customers. We were not the only table who left in disgust this night. Not a good experience at all.

The Black Whale is a great bar and restaurant on LBI. The seafood is very fresh and they have some tasty appetizers. The staff was very friendly and the service was prompt. I enjoyed the scallops, shrimp and flounder along with their crab and artichoke dip. The menu is reasonably priced as well. Enjoy.

Never mind paying for good food Meals were not good Shrimp over fried dry My grandson salmon just small strip unbelievable for price I wanted one nice dinner out for our week at shore and was told this place was favored by locals Unsure of why but not good Would not recommend

Great dinner. Muscles with garlic, white wine was awesome. My wife had pesto and macadamia nut encrusted grouper that was great. I had blackened mahi mahi with a garlic lemon aoli. It was crazy good! I havent stopped talking about it. Great service also.

Went here today with my daughter. I wanted something light and ordered the ceasar salad. BIG mistake! The dressing was horrible. It was almost like water, with no flavoring except a little bit of parmesan cheese. Service was nice and pleasant.

The food is very pricey, but it is worth it if you are looking for good seafood. The server we had is a inexperienced, however he managed to keep us taken care of despite how busy it was. Would most likely come again for a special occasion.

Tremendous food, tremendous atmosphere and help!! Great prices for LBI in season.. Garlic dungeness crab is by far the best meal!! And the salad dressings are insanely delicious.. By far my favorite restaurant and bar in LBI!

This is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The food is always great. I try mussels everywhere I go, but the Black Whale always has the best, freshest mussels. Nowhere else comes close. Also love the salad/dressings!

When you come down to the shore, whats better than fresh seafood? Theres great appitizers and a full bar. Great hang out and family restaurant as well. I highly recommend visiting while staying in Beach Haven!

The GF and mine favorite Happy Hour location! Although we have never had a full dinner here, their raw bar and Happy Hour menu is awesome and we love the $1 Oysters with white wines!
