First time we went some things went wrong but the attitude of the staff and quality of food weighed up for it. Second time we went, tonight was absolutely horrendously awful! The bartender got pissed of when we asked to transfer our drinks to dinner. Our waitress acted like she wanted to jump from the Empire State and the manager was a tiny Tony Soprano with just as sweet of an attitude... apparently it was our fault that the waitress forgot to put in our order for appetizers and she could not be bothered with an apology.. we had to ask for bread since we were starving waiting for 45 + minutes for the appetizers she forgot to order. After that we sat with our plates for another 30+ minutes and we had to ask someone to clean our table. I ordered 1 glass of wine and that ONLY took about 40 min to get (guess its not important unless its a bottle) when our dinner came she completely forgot about a salad we ordered. The dinner came in and the manager pounced on us before even having a bite, asking how it was.... well we didnt know by then what it tasted like, but the service sucked. He basically leaned in to our friend and said "you got something else to say about that" in not a very pleasant way........ as a European I would not have tipped a single cent, unfortunately in America you have to. This experience sucked, and its so bad considering how beautiful the restaurant is and how good it could be

I held a private party here. It wa a Bridal shower. The event coordinator was by no means accessible. It took 3 days to get a reponspe via email which is the only way you can contact her Even for basic answers regarding the space itself (I.e. Parking) dont get me wrong the space is beautiful! However it was a pain to plan anything there. The communication was so horrible. She was also rude when we had questions settling the bill, unclear about the total cost.The wait staff as fabulous however. We rented the room from 12-4. By 3:15 they were breaking down all of our displays and putting the gifts in the hall way. We explained that he had more time and they didnt seem to acknowledge that. They wouldnt even help us carry our stuff (which was a lot) 3 flights down. The food was good am Im sure it would be nice to have a meal there but i would never advise someone to hold a private party there. Im devastated to write this review as the space was beautiful however very unaccomidating.

The ambience and décor was well thought out and very attractive. Had a drink at the beautiful bar and my martini was perfect.The dinner was awesome and the salad, appetizer and steak were cooked to perfection! The bus boys were very pleasant and very attentive but our server Carrie was unfriendly and rushed us through our entire dinner. Her rushing and pushy unfriendly behavior from the minute we sat down put a damper on our dining experience. It was our first time there and would consider returning for the food but will make sure we dont sit in her section. The front line of wait staff is a reflection of a restaurant. I would have given a 5 but due to server Im rating a 3.

First time at restaurant a little disappointing. Hostesses are young and disinterested. Requested table on deck and were denied based on the fact that there were only large tables available (we were 3, tables were 6). What difference that made at 1:30 on a Thursday is a mystery. Sat us across from the kitchen - much too noisy to hear each other talk. Our waitress was great. She offered to move us to a table on the deck - wonder how that miraculously was available. Beer list great and the burger was delicious. Lets see how it goes once the summer is over. Will the popularity last.

Appetizers were good. Bartenders great! Main course one of the worst weve had on the jersey Shore. Ahi tuna bland....very boring. States comes with roasted potatoes but its cold potato salad Husband order Lobster roll...it was the worst Lobster you ever want to taste. Rubbery and old...barely any Lobster in roll. Basically paid a fortune for a potato roll. It was awful We waited a very long time for appetizers and then meal came right on top of them.. I would recommend waiting a while before you coming for dinner as they cant handle a crowd and ....its not summer yet

Ive been here twice- first time on opening night and service was flawless! Restaurant is beautifully decorated- ask to be seated upstairs- so pretty! They offer excellent food- crab deviled egg appetizer is amazing! Had steak which was prepared perfectly- and our server was able to get the peppercorn sauce I so love! All of the people I had dinner with enjoyed their meal and dining experience. Im sure well be back but expect the summer to be difficult to get reservations.

So were late in reviewing, but this is a classic fit for the jersey shore. Great, better yet incredible ambiance, great food, & reasonably priced. We went on Valentines Day, with a reservation, with another couple. Seated on time, (we arrived early to have drinks at the bar, which is beautiful), had 2 filets, rib eye, & lamb chops, everything cooked & presented to perfection. Will definitely repeat. Can see this becoming a favorite spot in the summer on their porch.

Had a drink at the bar then dinner on a humid night in July. Everything was really awesome. Apps. Salad and dinner were great. Caprese salad. Smoked salmon salad. Crab deviled eggs were excellent. One and only issue. Price this is the only decent place to for miles. Anyone in Bay Head doesnt care about cost. They should. While being great is is over priced by quit a bit. They need to make their money during summer because during winter it will be closed.

Blown away by this place!!! All the quality and nice designed atmosphere on top of the AMAZING dining!!! You can see right in kitchen which is super clean, looks well run and organized. Perfect portions, great quality food which is cooked to perfection. Highly recommended and well definitely be going back. They also have a great beer, wine and cocktail lists. Whatever you order you will fall in love with. Good for groups of friend or a date night.

Went for dinner last night , was outstanding. great atmosphere, the only noise I heard were a lot of people having a great time. Chris and Staff were very friendly , and took care of anything we needed. Actually we had 4 staff members taking care of a table of 4 . Food was delicious , and had a nice presence , very reasonable. You can tell the owners have an attention to detail, very clean and shows very well. Look forward to returning.

Came for a drink on opening night. Pretty good crowd in the place. Plenty of servers and bartenders and no wait to get a drink. Great beer selection with a lot of local beers. Upscale pricing on wine and food to be expected in bay head. Beer prices seemed reasonable around 6-7 dollars until you realize theyre 10 oz pours. Also there were barbacks washing and drying glasses right at the bar for the entire hour we were there.

The food was really good, i had the ahi tuna, but the service was really lacking. Our waitress took unusually long, was not very attentive and the table was not served bread until halfway through our meal. I would try Charlies again and see if the service is improved, the waitress did say that there was a large party upstairs but the restaurant should be capable of serving the party and the rest of its patrons.
