My Experience at Salt hill has always been positive. As a resident of Newport, I am delighted have Salt Hill in town. I go to the pub once or twice a month, usually having dinner while sitting at the bar. Their specialty fish and chips is often my choice and hard to beat in my book, but the other night I tried the "Irish Poutine," which was also a great choice. My girlfriend chose an assorted smoked meat and cheese plate and was amazed at the variety and quantity of snack samples at a good price.The Pub burgers and hand cut fries are always good, And there is a nice selection of dinner entrees. Often when family comes in from out of town, we will go there as a group. The service is always efficient and friendly, with a casual and relaxed atmosphere overall. Friday and Saturday are entertainment nights, usually offering one of the better small venue bands from the area

Wow I hate to write a bad review but Im here at salthill pub Newport and Im VERY disappointed! Ive heard nothing but great things about the place and it hasnt been the case.when sitting down we were asked if we wanted drinks I mentioned I would like a coke and before anyone could ask for there drink the waitress took off to get my drink. Then I ask for a bbq pulled pork sandwich she took my order and rest of tables after a few minutes she came back and said what I ordered wasnt available so asked to order something different which I did. A lil while later the waitress came back and told my guest that her order wasnt available but came up with another accommodation. I was last to order (because of me having to find another choice of a meal) but first served. My guests had to wait a few min for their meals. The service needs to be improved severely.

Salt Hill Pub had great food and attentive staff. We arrived for an early dinner so it was not crowded at all. There are upstairs and downstairs eating locations. The downstairs has mainly comfortable booths. We did not go upstairs but I believe the bar is up there, and it may be noisier at times. Pure conjecture on my part. The menu is not fancy ... Just good pub food.

Stopped on on a Saturday afternoon and had heard good things...DONT BOTHER!! Mediocre draft mix of craft beer, and bartender looked put out when I asked. Then was ignored and of course the kegged kicked for my beer. No fresh one, she just scooped the old and new foam off my glass until it was finally full of flat beer...NOT AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE...

Ive had a large range of experiences with this Salt Hill. The food was always great. However the service was terrible on several occasions (maybe 50% of the visits). It took forever to get the food when there was no one else in the restaurant or the waiter was not around or not nice. So, go there if you do not mind a very long lunch.

This is a great neighborhood place right on Newport, NHs main street! The food is surprisingly good, the service is excellent, and theres plenty of parking nearby. On this visit we had a reuben sandwich and a chicken and biscuit special --very large portions and delicious.

Excellent place, we love going here. The live music nights are always nice. The food is great. Even went to a business function here which was a blast. Definitely a good place to go if you want to a good meal, hand out with good people, and have a pleasant time.

We went there for the food. It was ok. Well, to be fair, its more like pub food than a fancy restaurant. The prime rib was huge, enough for two people, but it was a bit fatty. I would go there to drink but not a fancy sit down dinner.

Nice place reasonably priced and good food. Great beer selection. Service was a little slow for us on a sunday, we went in around 1:30 p.m. if your in a hurry might wa t to pass.
