Its Superbowl weekend and all the high-rollers are in town. I happened to stay at Paris this time. Other times at Caesars. Mon Ami Gabi has a fantastic view especially in the morning. Nothing is better than seeing sunrise first thing in the morning. Even the silhouette background of cosmopolitan or Bellagio with palm trees is breathtaking. On this morning, I dont recognize some of the staff here. I was third person in line as I got closer, I told them Ill be taking pictures, but want my regular table. Thats table #3 on the far end of patio for party of two or less seating. The host gave my table away while I was taking pictures. I went back up and asked what happened? They apologized and thought I was only taking pictures. What!!! However, I got the next table over which was also great, but nothing beats the one that Ive been using since 2006. My waitress was a little jumpy pouring coffee without asking if I want it or not. Coffee is not complimentary, its four bucks a cup. Ive always know their coffee is more on the lighter and weaker side. Since waitress already made a splash in cup, I just said go ahead. I also went ahead and order a glass of mimosa. Tasted like cheap champagne and water down OJ. I went with my regular of banana foster waffles and smoked salmon eggs benedict. Waffles were better today than any other time that I had it. Jessica (waitress) told me new girls in kitchen are making them differently now. Whatever theyre doing just keep it up. Eggs benny was slightly disappointed considering only single slice of smoke salmon was seen on each. Usually its 2-3 slices of salmon. Hollandaise sauce and egg were good. I purposely poke a hold on yolk so it can ooze out and muffin absorbed it. I take it as a learning process for new kitchen crew, but Ill always have my breakie here. Theres personality and traditions here lol.

Theyve hired the goof troop. The one inside the Paris shops is so messed up, I walked in yesterday and then again today the problem that made me walk out before ordering yesterday was still prevalent. I thought maybe I was confused and did something wrong and would give it another shot. Nope, the confusion was confirmed when I realized the error in how they manage the ordering line. Okay, so their pizza is on display, and there is a menu overhead, however, there are no labels on the pizza in the display case, which normally isnt a problem as sabarro and other joints do a simular thing. The problem is, you dont order at the display case, you must walk away from the pizza (assuming you matched the one you wanted or of the display to the menu item it represents) and order at the cash register. If you are going to display your pizza, and be the "order by the slice and its appearance " type of pizza joint, you need to change one of two things. Either you start taking peoples orders at the display case, like they are mostly expecting when walking in for the first time, or, LABEL each pizza inside the display case, so we can correspond what we want with what the menu says, and also put up a sign above the cash register that says "order here". However, the sensible thing to do is to just start talking orders at the display case (for the pizza) like is done at sabarro, as that is the design you are already manipulating your new customers with. This is common sense, and certainly several people have chosen to avoid this otherwise good pizza just because they hold a negative opinion of this establishment and the people working in it.

I was actually pretty disappointed with my dish here. Ive been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. My friend said the steaks were really good, so I knew I would definitely get a steak frites. The server said the ribeye with bearnaise sauce was really good. Instead of the ribeye, I opted for the steak with bearnaise sauce. Now Im no expert on bearnaise sauce, but I thought the one at Mon Ami Gabi had no flavor except for butter. It just tasted like melted butter. I was expecting more creaminess to it with more herbs and flavor other than butter... The steak was very thin. I tried a piece of the filet mignon merlot and it was much thicker and nicer. However, my steak was too thin and I did not particularly enjoy it. As for the fries... they were disappointing because they are cut like really thin strips, and they give you a lot! But honestly to me, it felt like eating kettle cooked chips and crumbs from the bottom of the chips bag. Not a fan of that, especially in a huge amount (lots of it went to waste). I prefer thin fries which are crispy on the outside and with some potato texture on the inside. Some other people in the group really liked the fries though. The service was alright. They were nice but they were handing out the wrong plates... come on now. The complimentary bread was very good, freshly baked and crusty. It was served with butter and a mixture of pickled shredded radish, apple and parsley. I may come back to try other items on the menu, maybe for lunch. Now I just know not to get the fries or the cheaper steak.

The good: Location: great location right in the front of Paris casino. Central to the strip. Some tables have a good view of the Bellagio fountain if you wait to sit outside. The bad: Staff: Our server was very rude about confusing our order. We asked for a recommendation of chicken liver pâté or chicken liver mousse. He recommended that the pâté tastes better but is thick and not as creamy so we opted for the mousse. When the wrong dish came, he argued with us that we took his recommendation... no guy, sorry but you should have apologized and brought us the correct appetizer not stood there defending yourself that we ordered the other dish. Worst reaction a server could have The food: Unfortunately all mediocre. The mousse was pretty bad (I eat mousse all the time, this was missing the gaminess and came with a stinky after taste). Our steak tartare appetizer was tiny and covered with fried onions, masking the presentation and taste of a beautiful raw beef dish. We got the daily special of steak medallions which were good, as were the side potatoes that came with it. We ordered a side of garlic spinach as well, the saltiest spinach Ive ever eaten. The price: I feel like I was eating at a TGI Fridays. We were definitely price gouged for being on the strip. Next time I will follow my heart and eat at a celebrity chefs restaurant even though the wait may be longer. At least someone outs their name on it. Gabi and I are NOT amies.

Ive been looking forward to dining at Mon Ami Gabi for sometime and was excited as I was told to expect an "experience". Little did I know that my experience would be a terrible one. Our server, Sharon was awful. She was curt and short with us and outwardly annoyed at our questions about the menu. Since the selections are French based, I had no idea what the different steaks and sauces were. After several questions and attempts to get her to explain them, I finally said to her that she has done a poor job of explaining things and I needed to understand the menu. She said they dont do that as there as there is not enough time to explain the different sauces . I then asked her to please give us a different server that could and she flat out told us that that was not going to happen. I then asked for a manager and she proceeded to go to another table to take their order and then proceede to ring it in. We had to get up and find a manager on our own. Once the manager approached the table, he did listen attentively and give us a different server who was excellent. However he did not check back in with us during the meal to see if everything was OK nor did he even apologize for the terrible service we had gotten so far. This was not a great experience at all I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
