Im from out of town (Des Moines) and consider myself a pretty big Chinese fan. I like to try lots of different restaurants to see whos better; I dont think all Chinese food is equal. Some places are most certainly better than others. Here on a business trip, I wanted to find the best Chinese Omaha had to offer. If the (74) 4.5 stars is the indicator of the best, then Im sorry Omaha but your Chinese sucks. I ordered from crystal jade last night. I got the empress delight chicken. Its a little more expensive than the typical chicken fare but I usually like empress flavor. My first red flag when ordering was that crystal jade offered more than Chinese; Thai, gluten free, Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, etc were all on the menu. How can you be good at one type of food when youre offering to make 5-6 different ethnicities? Answer: you cant. The order arrive fast enough, using some kind of skip the forks service that seemed like uber for delivery. The chicken was downright soggy. There was so much deep fried breeding that my chicken looked like a funnel cake. Chicken doesnt come in donut shapes typically. This did. One of the easiest ways to judge Chinese food quality is by the breaded chicken. If the breeding is crisp and minimal, with cuts of chicken that arent gristly and are substantial - well youve got good chicken. This was the exact opposite of that. Skip this place and find one with a smaller menu. Or just dont get Chinese in Omaha. The majority of people love crappy food apparently.

My family and I have eaten here quite often, over the last few years. First and foremost the customer service is Great. Now for the part that you are really curious about the food.It is excellent! I love Asian food and try to eat a variety of different places. I enjoy Thai, Korean, Japanese, Sezchwan, Indian, Southern.... I assume that you are picking up what I am trying to Say. I have also tried many of the different entrees that Crystal Jade offers and each and entree and appetizer that I have eaten have been great. The restaurant always uses the freshest ingredients and will gladly accommodate any special requests you may have. I have and will continue to recommend this place. Its a family owned business to anyone looking for great food at a very reasonable price. Crystal Jade is your place. Keep up the Great work and Thanks for the Consistency.

It was right next to my hotel so I tried it. The food was ok, but the service was non-existent. They didnt offer or suggest soup with my meal. Someone brought my food out and just sat it on the table without saying a word. There is no naan bread to go with the Indian food. I was never checked on to see how the food was or if I needed anything. My water wasnt refilled until after all my my food was taken away. Half way through the meal someone dropped my check off without asking if I wanted anything else, coffee, desert, etc. When I paid at the register I wasnt asked how my experience/service was. Overall, just not a good experience for a restaurant.

Inside was clean & plenty of parking. I ordered fried rice and goons which came out to be $13 and change so I was expecting a hefty serving of the rice since its a low cost item. Nope! I understand not being able to add more meat, but throw in more rice, egg and onion to give it more perceived value. The food wasnt bad, but not the best Ive had and I would rather go elsewhere because the food would be better and I would get more for the same price. They also neglected to give silverware with our to go order which we did not have immediate access to, so we had to wait to eat the food.

This is just one of those restaurants I cant do without. I love the great variety of food and the flavors are fabulous! Ive been able to try different types of Asian cuisine here and I am never disappointed. I love the beautiful vegetable garnishes that come with the meal and Shirley will even teach you how to make them! The service is friendly - I was treated like family the very first time I was there. I was happily surprised at how beautifully theyve re-done an old Village Inn - its gorgeous inside! From the moment I walk in to the time I walk out, its a great experience.

Oh boy... where to start. I got the Orange Chicken which tasted like breaded and deep-fried puked up cat food, thrown on a plate smothered with orange flavored Aunt Jemima syrup. Service was okay, but it was uncomfortably quiet. But how do I explain this quietness? Well, imagine two people on a 30-flight elevator and one of them farts... no eye contact, beads of sweat forming on both of their faces from the immense amount of awkwardness, all while both are attempting to hold their breath in hopes of shielding them from an imminent nostral demise...pretty much that quiet.

My husband and I discovered the Crystal Jade last year. The food is consistently delicious. It is served by the warm and friendly staff, who always aim to please. The atmosphere is also warm and inviting and confortable, perfect for a romantic dinner or large enough for a group. We go there every week and look forward to their interesting and tasty servings. The variety of choices on the menu sets this Chinese restaurant apart from all the rest. We highly recommend it for lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed! By Barb Sanford 2/24/10

Crystal Jade is definitely my favorite restaurant in Omaha. The food is scrumptious and beautifully presented. They have a gigantic menu as well as a separate vegetarian menu (though everything can be made vegetarian or vegan, and the mock duck is an awesome replacement, even for tofu). I find myself daydreaming of their curry noodle soup on a daily basis! Extremely kind service, fair prices, huge portions, lots of weekly specials, cheap beer, yummy frozen drinks, etc etc. I eat here regularly and have not a single complaint!

I havent had noodles this good in a long time. Its like this meal was made for me. Im glad I decided to visit this restaurant. The wonton soup I ordered was also very good, the broth was very strong. The iced tea was nice, it had a dark sort of Thai flavor, but not as spicy as Thai tea. The flower garnish that came with the meal (made out of carrots, radishes, onions, and the like) was pretty cool too. The interior of the restaurant suggests that it is an older design but is in very good condition. The service is wonderful.

Best chinese/asian restaurant in Omaha! Amazing vegetarian and vegan dishes. The mock duck is out of this world - try the mongolian mock duck or the spicy bulgogi with mock duck. Their buffets are ridiculously good and very fairly priced. The owners are incredibly kind people as well, so I always feel good about supporting this place. If youre not a vegetarian, there are so many delicious meat options as well. Something truly for everyone here. I cant say it enough, so SO SO good. I eat here at least once a week.

I went soon after a review in the Omaha World Herald gave it glowing reviews. I was impressed, but didnt think it was exceptional. I went back about a year later and the food had regressed. It was very bland. I asked the person on the phone for something spicy and he suggested the Kung Pao Beef. What I got was something that was a runny brown sauce, way too many mushrooms and green peppers and a little beef. Oh...an almost no peanuts and definitely no spice. I will not be back!!!
