I have eaten at Chinese Garden for about 20 years now. Fortunately I work in the area and have taken advantage of their lunch buffet many times. For $5.65 you can get crab Rangoon, egg rolls, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, chicken wings and a variety of other items whose names I don’t know. It is always fresh, hot and tastes great. I am not an expert on authentic Chinese food. I just know what I like. I have tried other restaurants over the years but none is better than Chinese Garden. The couple that operates the restaurant is friendly and very attentive. They know their customers well and make sure everyone feels welcome. If you are looking for a romantic atmosphere for a date, this may not be the place. But if you prefer good food and good service at a great price, look no further.

I remember when this place opened 24 years ago. The only place I have found authentic Springfield Cashew Chicken in the Kansas City area. I would order carry out at least twice a month when I lived in North Winn apartments. I moved sometime later and forgot all about this little gem. Then I ordered Springfield cashew chicken from another northland Chinese place and was extremely disappointed. It made me think of this place in Claycomo. I knew it was still operating under the same name so we stopped there one night on the way home. I was so happy it was under the same ownership and even recognized the lady who use to take my order. I know who is getting my business now even if I have to drive farther to get it. Im already looking forward to my next trip to Claycomo!!!

There were three of us and each had a different entree, and we each were quite pleased. The egg rolls, crab rangoon and egg drop soup were all very good. It did take a while for our meals to be prepared, 15, maybe 20 minutes, even though they were not busy at all, but we thought worth the wait. Everything was nice and hot. We were the first of the dinner crowd, so that might have been why. The rice was OK, but not the best. I think were used to Chinese on the west coast where they put pieces of pork and a few other goodies in with it. To the guy who says the good reviews are either payed{SIC} for or fake, we say the bad reviews must be from competing restaurant owners.

I was staying in a nearby Hotel and decided I wanted Chinese food for supper so I googled the nearest Chinese restaurants to my Hotel. This one had the highest star rating so I decided on it. All I can say is, anybody that woould rate this place higher then 1 star has never really eaten good Chinese. It was not good. And then to top it off, I didnt check the to go bag to see if they had put a plastic fork in it and when I returned to my Hotel, realized they hadnt. Try eating fried rice with the plastic lid that came on the cup of soup. Its not easy. This was a horrible dining experience and I would recommend trying any place other then this one.

So yummy! Our new favorite! we got take out, it was hot, delicious, and the people working there are very nice. In fact, my husband called after we ate just to tell them we enjoyed our food so much. One last thing that impressed us was because it was take out, the receipt we signed, the man at the register put a line through the tip line and wrote the total of the food itself. We were very impressed and pleased! Would highly recommend this restaurant!

What drew me to this place about 15 years ago were the awards that they have received from the Clay County Health Department for outstanding efforts in sanitation. The food is fresh, hot, and so very good! The family that runs it knows all their regulars and they remember little things that we like. If you have ever dealt with the Clay Co. Health Dept. you know how hard it is to get an award like this. Very impressed everytime!

Im only giving two stars because the girl at the counter was super nice, but the food was pretty bad. No flavor in the beef and broccoli and same for the sesame chicken. No drink options available, the restaurant was dingy and old, and the sign outside was so dim we almost couldnt find it. Im definitely not picky, I actually dont think Ive ever written a restaurant review, but the food just wasnt good.

Best Chinese ever. I dont know what other places are doing wrong, but I been ordering crab rangoon from like 5 other restaurants and they ALL have sucked compared to this place. Rainbow, Iron Wok, Bo-Lings (especially this place), they all suck so bad compared Chinese Garden restaurant. And the owners are so nice and polite all the time. Best Chinese food ever.

They have a nice lunch buffett. The prices are good and the owners/staff are very friendly, hard working. The place is always clean and orderly. They always make my dinner exactly as I ask them. They accomodate my dietary needs when asked. I have been going there since pregnant with my son. 33 years. I will go there as long as they are there. Great People.

Food is always taste amazing. I tried some Chinese restaurant before and their food taste like fast food restaurant. The waiter and waitress is friendly. I come here a lots. And some tip, they have secret menu, if you are really familiar with Chinese food, try to ask them some new dishes. Today, I asked shrimp dumplings soup. So amazing

The other posts are payed for or fake. For real? This place has 4.6 stars, Idk who is to blame for that but I fell like they should have payed me to take out a bag of garbage, should proly get another round of immunizations... seriously save your money for dance lessons and find anything aside from this place to feed ur self or kids.

We love chinese garden or Benfood as we call it! Have been coming here since we were in high school! we love the food (my favorite is the general tsos) and we love the owners! Yes, its a little run down strip mall that they are in, but COME ON people they have been in this strip mall for years and years and years!

Ben (the owner) is the best. Super friendly, remembers everyones names and what they like to order. Their generals chicken is spicy and crispy. Honestly one of the best Ive had. I also love their twice cooked pork. Its Smokey and spicy with a lot of vegetables. Their dinner special is super reasonable.

They waitress didnt return our change and thought we told them to have the rest of our cash when we just said to pay the bill and well decide the tip instead they decided oh lets just take the rest without letting us know. Never coming back here and the food wasnt the best.

Im from Springfield and look hi and low for cashew chicken in Kansas City. The chicken was over cooked/burnt and inedible. I was completely disappointed in the sauce, wrong flavor and constancy. Wondered if theyve ever even had/tried Springfield style cashew chicken?

Absolutely love this place. We have been eating here for over twenty years and its the only Chinese place I truly love. Ben and Shaling are the greatest and they always make you feel like family.
