My daughter chose LaBonne Bouche to have her bridesmaids luncheon at. We visited the restaurant twice prior to deciding. The first visit we had a horribly rude waitress. We reported her to the owner, who was very apologetic, etc and glad that we told her. After looking at a few more places we decided to give them a second chance and returned for another meal. This time we had the same waitress and it was like night and day. She was nice this time. So we booked the luncheon. I also ordered some cookies to pick up that day to have at our spa party the next day. So the day of the luncheon comes. The date is January 7, 2010. And it snows and is cold. We bundle up, piled into the van and head out for the luncheon (we are from Illinois so about a 40 minute drive). We arrived to find the restaurant closed due to inclement weather. No phone call or anything. They had my cell and house phone numbers. We tried to call their number...no answer. The next day I called to thank them for calling and letting us know that they had to close and was basically I was told that it was MY fault and that I should have called. They said they tried to call everyone but did not have my area code. LOL So could they not just have tried all the surrounding area codes...there are only 3. And the restaurant is separate from the bakery, so I got a call from neither of them! I have never been treated so rudely! Whatever happened to "the customer is always right" train of thinking...that you want to make the customer happy? Whatever happened to just saying we are so sorry that this happened? How can we make it up to you? None of that from LaBonne Bouche! Oh well, we went down the road to The Old Spaghetti Factory and they provided us with a wonderful meal and we did not let this unfortunate event ruin our day! So Book your parties with caution and be sure to call ahead and make sure they have not had an emergency!

I would do La Bonne Bouchee again and again for our wedding. For years my dad has raved about their cake, and my dad walks out of his favorite movie saying "Yeah that was ok". For him to rave about anything, I had to try their cake. That said, I will continue using them through the years, they were amazing. The cake was perfect, it tasted amazing and was beautiful! Huge compliments on that. My favorite part is they dont charge extra because its a "wedding" cake. Its the same price as any other cake youd order for 150 people to them! It was outstanding! They baked our wedding cake on Mothers Day weekend, which is of course a challenge, but it didnt come with too many problems. I can say, if youre going to use them, make sure to call ahead and schedule an appointment with the pastry chef. This place is, apparently, very well known for how good their cake/pastries are. Theyre -always- busy, we stopped in at like 2:30PM on a Thursday and it was so packed we had to come back another time. That does make them slightly less flexible and slightly harder to get a hold of, but when I called to schedule an appointment everything went much more smoothly. At our appointment the pastry chef did a great job of explaining options and was all ears on what we wanted with our cake. We were in and out in probably 20 minutes with our cake on order and paid for. Our cake was beautiful, and best of all, it tasted -great-. The only issue we ran into was on picking up the cake. At first they couldnt find it I guess? It was the day before Mothers Day, so some confusion is understandable, but it definitely gave us a scare. Luckily they finally located it and it got to the venue in plenty of time. They did have a delivery option, but with the venue being close we decided we would just pick it up. It was perfect all around. I would use them again.

I love their sweets and often drive from St. Louis downtown to get them. Long drive just to buy some cakes huh? But I often buy a lot, for myself, friends, families, co-workers to make it worth the drive. Their cakes are excellent but their customer service is not that great. Theyre always not so patient when I make my selections. I buy a lot of macs about 10+ types with 3-5 each plus different cakes. And they keep pushing what else, what else with a rushing voice and serious face. But that is no big deal. I can always tolerate that. And its not the main thing Im talking about today. Here is what made me unhappy and hesitate to come back. I stepped in the bakery and was right away busy thinking of what to order. A few min later the cashier asked can i help u? I said I havent decided but I have a question. And what she said is oh no, youre not the next, you came in after that lady. They dont have a line form for you to line up, so I have no idea who walked in first. I said fine because I had plenty of time and I was not ready either. And the other lady nicely said its ok she (me) can go first. But surprisingly, the cashier said no, i only serve the next person in line, I dont allow line skipping, everyone has to wait till their turns. I was so embarrassed. Remember there was no line, and both of us customers did not mind who went first. But the cashier had to say that out loud to turn me into a person without manner while I was not and I never am.

This Cake shop is the worst store I ever visited, and the owner of the shop is very rude with customers and have no common sense. I placed a customized cake on 5th May for my kids birthday, I was told to collect that on 7th of May. Due to busy schedule with the birthday arrangements, I sent my friend on 05/07 to collect the cake. By the time he went to collect that, the order was not ready and they said “no order got placed”. Then my fried showed the payment receipt then they said, “Your order got misplaced and we will give a ready-made cake”. As we all people waiting at the party to start the birthday celebrations, my friend took the cake and we completed the birthday with upset mind, Later day 05/08, I went to the shop asked about the issue that happened about the cake, they responded in a very rude manner, and saying "go and bring back the cake, we will refund the money", they didn’t even conveyed apology for the failure of delivering the exact cake. I have paid extra amount for customization. They are not even ready to refund my extra dollars that they charged for customization.

Ive been going here for the bakery since I was a little girl. The bakery is AMAZING! I recently began eating brunch and dinner here, and each time it seems that the service gets worse and worse. The first time the waitress seemed to forget about us, even though there were only about 3 tables filled in the entire restaurant. That was fine because she had a great attitude and did give us everything we asked for. The second time was about the same quality of service, except that the restaurant was filled. That was also fine. However, yesterday we sat for about 15 minutes before one of us got water. Just one of four. Then after we got our food she never came back to check on us. We got her attention for a split second as she walked past us (again) just to get more bread which never came. We also had to interrupt her walking and ignoring us to even get the check since we had been sitting for half an hour after finishing eating. I will be sticking to just the bakery from now on.
