Im going to give a more comprehensive review, rather than saying "Food tastes good". Those kinds of reviews really arent that helpful for people that actually want to assess whether a restaurant is worth going to. Ive been here 3-4 times. So I will give a comprehensive view that basically averages all of my experiences put together. Food - 5 out of 5 stars. The thing I appreciate most about this restaurant, is the fact that it is authentic. The flavor profiles are what you expect from authentic Mexican cuisine, which might throw off people who are not accustomed to the flavors. Each time I have come, the food has been delicious. I have had the sopas, chimichangas, enchiladas tres amigos, a burrito, torta cubana, a combination platter, and the tostadas. Service - 5 out of 5 stars. I dont expect perfection from people, and I am not a privileged jerk with the pompous attitude of "I should always have my way because I am the customer." My water is filled when it needs to be filled, the waiter checks on me and asks if there is anything that I need, I get my check when I need it. You also get free chips and salsa, which is cool! Environment - 5 out of 5 stars. I dont know how to describe it, but the restaurant has a "home" like feel. Its clean when I sit down. They also have bands play every so often, which is really cool as well. Overall - 5 out of 5 stars. A restaurant that sells good authentic Mexican food is tough to find here in MN. You get free chips and salsa, the food is good, and the service is about what you expect from a restaurant. I would recommend coming here if you like authentic Mexican food.

Just went to El Tejaban last night. This was our third time there over as many years but will be our last one. Previously the food was very good but always overpriced. This time however, The food was COLD as well as overpriced. I also had a Poloma - it was in a Collins glass.....For $9.00 you would think you would get a full sized Margarita glass but instead you get it in small Collins Glass filled with lots of ice?? and it was pretty weak - as in very little Tequila.... It tasted okay but other places Polomas are 3 times better. ( I just had one on Cinco de Mayo at another place and it was night and day difference) My concern is they are not putting out food that meets the temperature requirements for safety. I think they need to be inspected since this can be very dangerous. For the prices they charge and the cold food they serve - go somewhere else....not impressed - wish we had not gone there this time. No thanks. Will not be going back.

I left this comment on the WRONG restaurants page SMH Buuut ..This place is fireeee ! Im Black and we love SEASONING on our food. Ive eaten at SO MANY mexican places & this is the best! I always get the enchilada burrito with the green sauce ! Amaaazing ! I always ask for extra :) The meat has a slight spice to it , they dont give you too much rice like American spots do. You really get a nice ratio of ingredients. The steak is BOMB ! Its perfectly cooked, cut, and seasoned. The waiters are always pleasant & attentive. I always tip them ! The orange "salsa" /chip dip they give you with the tortilla chips is soooo good and a bit spicy ! The salsa tastes so fresh & the cilantro sets it off. No other Mexican spot (Ive ever had) comes close to this place ! Period

I visited El Tejaban because I like supporting local restaurants. The atmosphere was great, but the place was way too warm. Maybe they want customers to feel like they are actually in Mexico. Service was lacking; only one waiter and the other helper did not help too much. No refill of the chips. Waited about 15-20 mins for our food which was luke warm. The price was outragous! For what I ordered I could have driven out to Eagan for the same meal for 1/4 the cost at El Loro. Sadly, I will not be returning to El Tejaban.

Excellent and friendly service. Chips arrived quickly with two salsas - orange and red. Red was alightly spicy wit lots of cilantro, very fresh. Orange had a real kick, very good. The chicken mole enchiladas were delicious - the mole was complex and spicy. My girlfriend had a steak and peppers entree which she said was even spicier than the mole. If you like spicy authentic Mexican, this is our place. Great happy hour specials, a huge menu, and very fair prices.

The hostess was pleasant and always smiling. Our server was courteous. We ordered a dish that takes 20 min to make but our server, the only one in a pink shirt, did not tell us that nor did he come to our table during this time at all. We were leaving but he was running to us with our order. I did tell him that communication is critical in situations. He apologized. Our seafood fanfare was amazing! Worth every penny of the $25 dish. We will try again.

We went to this restaurant on labor day (maybe that was our mistake). Occupancy was about 50%. Yet, they took 45 minutes to 1 hour to prepare our food (one of the dishes took an even longer time to come). The food was not the greatest Mexican food we have eaten, but it was fine. Even the drinks took a long time to be brought to the table. Our main complaint is the service and will not be returning to this place.

The service at this place sucks .. We waited 20 min for someone to pay attention to us. Finally the server decided to come and we ordered drinks and the drinks were so bad and it took an other 20 min for them to make it. The food was an other 20 min for them to bring. If you wanna wait for over an hour to be attended you should go here . The was was not the best .. I will not come back here ever again.

Dont let the strip-mall location fool you, there is a full-service bar and restaurant hiding in here! We had fajitas and flautas with giant margaritas and all of it was fantastic. I think they are busier for late-night life, but we showed up on a weekend afternoon and could belly right up to the bar for immediate service. Plenty of space for big groups too.

This place used to be great but after the location change it changed the menu for the worse. It used to be authentic Mexican food, now its no better than el Loro or any other generic Mexican food restaurant where everything is made with ground beef and taco spices. Do yourself a favor and go down the street to Andale if you are craving real Mexican food .
