Hands down, no competition the best wings in the Twin Cities. Well worth the trip if you arent from the area. Would definitely recommend the black beard burger for those who arent wings fans. Even better, you can add any wing sauce to your burger! This is an A-La-Carte style restaurant. You will order everything you want/need at the counter, pay for it, and get a number/supplies and go. If you are expecting to be waited on hand and foot, this is not the place for you. It is very casual but that isnt to say that service is lacking. Darin, the owner of D-spot, is vey often working in the kitchen and will frequently pop his head out to chat with a regular or see how things are going. The service staff is very nice and helpful when necessary, even if it is a busy time and they might have to juggle a little bit to make things work. I do have to say this, though: there will be a wait for your wings. Because of the nature of D-spot and all of the insanely creative sauce options available, they make each wing to order. That means that those tarantula wings you just ordered havent been sitting in a basket under a heater for 50 minutes waiting for someone to order them, they are made just for you. They dont have their sauces sitting in pots and pans all day getting old. Everything is fresh and made to order. Someone has to go and cook up the sauce, the rub, and the wings from scratch specifically for your order (and then some if you ordered several kinds of wings!) so obviously that is going to take a little more time than your average restaurant. If you arent willing to wait a little longer for these seriously mind blowingly AMAZING wings, then I would skip it and just try Buffalo Wild Wings who can pump out meh-mediocre wings in 15 or less. In the end, I can promise you up and down that your patience at D-spot will pay off in the best of ways. The wing wait times arent a service issue, its an assurance of quality on behalf of the restaurant to deliver you the freshest product possible, even if that means sending one basket of wings out at a time. I would encourage EVERYONE to try it. The multitude of 5 star ratings arent for nothing. But, go in with an open mind and an open schedule-- you will have a much better experience if you can just sit down, relax, and enjoy a phenomenal basket of chicken wings.

I have a fairly well known food podcast and after hearing D-Spot moved to a new location I had to check it out. It was a huge improvement from when I last ate at their old location. Only one fairly big issue keeps me from giving it 5 stars and Ill address that at the end. The saucy wings were absolutely perfect and everything I love. Some people complain about too much sauce but I cant get enough. Absolutely perfect in every way. They finally ditched canned soda and got a fountain which has a fantastic array of gourmet options (Jones Soda and MinneSoda). The server was attentive and checked that we were enjoying our food. Now for the problem: I came to D-Spot to meet a friend and arrived early. I took a seat at one of a few open tables and waited. Maybe two to three minutes passed when a member of D-Spots staff grabbed a chair from my table, moved it over to a table of two young women, and proceeded to eat with them and take his break (this was at approximately 1:15 PM 16-OCT-2015). I just shook my head at the rudeness of it because I was only meeting 1 friend. Had I been meeting a group necessitating all the chairs at that table I certainly would have loudly verbally reprimanded the employee for his rudeness. As other reviews have stated and I too must agree: the food is fantastic; and I would say the service largely is too, but this kind of rude behavior from an employee is remembered and takes A LOT of luster out of D-Spot or any restaurant for that matter. If that employee is willing to just take a chair from a table where a customer is seated without ensuring that the customer will not need that chair then what other violations of basic service will he perform. I wanted so badly to have my podcast focus on the unique variety of flavors available but now Ive got to shift to talking about what basic courtesies and social conduct is necessary in staff.

Im heartbroken to give such a long and disappointing review about the poor service that Ive recieved here but first, I will give credit to the amazing food. I love multiple types of wings from here and especially their fries. Ive been a customer here for years but have become extremely disappointed ever since this business moved to their Oakdale location near Smokedale. On multiple occasions at this location, I have left extremely displeased with the service and staff. From the uninviting music (which Im personally a fan of) being unprofessional for a restaurant to play with families to the young staff working at this establishment - not that being young should be held against them by any means but on multiple occasions, I have had inconveniences during my dining experience. On one occasion, I hadnt received my fries with my order and waited a half hour for them after receiving my wings.. My most recent visit threw me over the edge after respectfully waiting an hour, I hadnt received my food - when I confronted my cashier I received no remorse and realized the order hadnt even been thrown down yet and immediately demanded a refund. Im a young person thats worked in the food industry long enough to know that the way I was treated by my cashier was no way to treat a customer. In the staffs defense, a young man was very pleasant and understanding with our experience and voided our order - making our drinks free. Ultimately, I love the D-spots food, its unbeatable around here but will not be returning anytime soon due to the poor service on multiple occasions.

Let me preface this by saying that I absolutely love the concept of this place. Im a big pepper head, love hot sauces, love wings and creativity therein. I have been to Ds spot twice now and both times the service and atmosphere has been paltry, confusing and frustrating. First, off understand that they make everything from scratch, which is good in the sense that your wings will be fresh and homemade. However, expect to wait 45 minutes for your wings. Secondly, this is an extremely loud place, the staff is screaming "CORNER!", music is blaring and the chef is yelling at the staff over the music. Ok, so this is an edgy place, I get it. You dont need to be loud and shoving it down my throat to be edgy. You can be edgy and also professional. Thirdly, during my second visit there it took the staff 30 minutes after ordering to tell me that they didnt have the product I ordered in stock, all in all it took 1:30 to get screwed up order complete. To boot, when I get home, in both orders I had ONE drumstick. I wont go into detail about the sheer and utter bumbling lack of confused and misguided direction going on here. D, I love your wings, I love your sauces, I love the creativity and I love the concept. However, your staff is completely incompetent in customer service and professionalism. Maybe that doesnt matter to you, but to many a customer it does.
