Imagine going to a restaurant that advertises as authentic Italian and then serves you a $15 plate of Kraft mac n cheese. This is Market BBQ. Last night was my second time trying Market BBQ and I am beyond disappointed, I am furious. My husband couldnt eat it, My brother couldnt eat t it. My father SPIT IT OUT. DO NOT take your Southern Parents and Grandparents here hoping to give them a taste of home. This is fast food pawned off as real food. Market BBQ is a con that relies on the fact that the average Minnesotan hasnt been south of Illinois and has no clue what bbq is. If you want good bbq, take a trip to the nearest Black side of town, just drive down the street, there are more options than I can count and you pay about 15 for a full rack of ribs. They will be THRILLED to have your business. BBQ should never be: chewy even a little dry tough served with french fries(!!!!!!!!???) served with any sort of frozen potato. wings should never, never be breaded at a BBQ joint sauce should never be thick and sugary SHAME ON YOU MARKET BBQ. You know exactly what you are doing and Im calling you out. I also would like to know why your meat sometimes tastes like propane? Thought your meat was smoked? I would rather drop $200 on the sidewalk with the hopes that it might be picked up by a half way decent person. There are some wonderful BBQ options in Saint Paul and Minneapolis not to mention the fundraisers put on by schools, churches, and (my favorite) the Sterling Club where you can get a full plate of real bbq for about $10. Not sure if there is a messaging or contact option here, but if you can figure out how, please get in touch with me and I will gladly share some restaurant and any upcoming events recommendations where you can get real BBQ to feed the whole family for less than $60.

I took my family to this restaurant because I was told that they had the "best ribs" that I would ever taste. We were all very hungry and we all ordered the Rack of ribs. It was early Saturday evening, no one in the joint but us, the waitress took our order, we figured it would take at least 15-20 minutes. 3 minutes after taking our order here come the ribs. Red Flag right! Oh my God. A shark couldnt pull the meat from the bone. All the sauce in the world wouldnt help this dog food. I could go on and on, but if you dont believe me I dare you to see for yourself. We paid our bill $30 a rack TIMES 6 in family for a total of $180. Being from out of town we left quietly. WE walked approx 1 block from this restaurant and my wife and kids said Dad - why didnt you tell the manager? I said that I didnt want to create a seen. But that if you want me to go back that I would. SO, led by my wife ( who never complains) we returned to speak to the manager. What a rude individual we ran into. This guy has dirty blonde hair with glasses, not that this matters, but I want to make it a point so that if you ever go there you will see for yourself. I told him that this place was suppose to have the best ribs and that they were definately the worst ribs that I had ever eaten and his response was sorry you didnt like them but tough luck buddy. I said what his response was you heard me. I said thats fine but that when I get home that I would be writing to a review about this experience. He said that he didnt personally care. So my response was ok. And that is why I am writing to warn customers about this place. Please do yourself a favor, read and believe the responses below because it is the truth. GO anywhere but here. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this hole. UUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH DOG FOOD!!!!!!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISHONEST PLACE! We had THREE separate parties of folks (each consisting of two people). We ordered from a menu that had DIFFERENT PRICES than what we were charged on the final bill. We asked to see a menu to check prices---the prices were DIFFERENT than the FIRST menu!!! Several people in our party remembered the ORIGINAL menu having DIFFERENT prices than the final bill or the second menu we were shown. This ought to be against the law--in fact I thought it was?--"truth in advertising"? At any rate, I agree with other posters that the server (owner?) was EXTREMELY rude--and then he WROTE IN HIMSELF a 20% GRATUITY on EACH of our 3 bills! This is our first visit to Minnesota, and if this is what people up here are like this will most certainly be our LAST. DO NOT GO HERE! From what i can tell from other reviews, this has (in the past) been a good restaurant---apparently the new owner is the problem--but he gives a whole new meaning to "surly." Maybe he will go out of business (as he richly deserves to, especially as it appeared to several in our party that he is being dishonest and cheating customers in the billing) and someone decent will take over this restaurant again. Until then, STAY AWAY. (ETA: Noted that the owner used to be "Steve Polski" but that his son now runs it and many LONG TIME customers have been shafted by this man & said they will no longer return. Its a shame--if the son so HATES his fathers business why doesnt he hire a good MANAGER who knows what hes doing to run it so he can go do whatever he wants to do? I also noticed most of the 5-star reviews now are from an anonymous "A Google User"--probably him trying to boost his review rates. One poster even said they saw a MOUSE there! Wouldnt surprise me. . . READ down....)

Horrible experience with owner! My husband and I have been coming here for 30 plus years, we havent been here in a few years, but the owner is has made it so we will NEVER come back. When our food arrived, my husbands ribs were tough and fatty, he only ate a few, and covered them with the napkin. We didnt complain, when the bill came we noticed it was higher than we ever paid especially the martini which for about 4 -5 ounces of Grey Goose they charged us $14.90, the waitress had the owner come up to the table, upon approaching he aggressively stated that there is 8 ounces of Grey Goose in the glass, and that is how much they charge, he would like us to pay the bill and leave. I asked him if he was serious? Then we told him about the ribs, he said for us to pay our tab, and leave or he will call the cops. I was shocked, I said we never said we wouldnt pay, I cant believe you treat your customers like this, he said he didnt care if the customers come back. And he said he was calling the police, he walked away, my husband and I went to the register to pay, where the owner was with a bouncer now. As I am taking out my credit card, I am telling him how rude and disrespectful he is and I was going to write a review, he then proceeded to take out his phone and start video recording my husband and me, stating this is what people look like that make reviews on yelp. I asked him to stop as I felt violated. I then asked him about his erractic, odd behavior at which point he went into the office. We paid and left. I filed a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney Generals office, and will tell everyone I know about our experience. After being a customer for 30 plus years I will never go there again!
