Right off the bat, I was seated outside at a table that surely involved some sort of teleportation magic, because Im pretty sure my picnic table was located at the equator of Mercury. There were several shaded tables available when we walked to the patio, but those were filled later. An FYI to whatever employee reads this: if you want to somehow "reward" customers for coming earlier, seat people at the tables closest to the buildings, so that their retinas are intact for the drive home. We ordered some drinks from our server, who was very kind and welcoming. A little note: root beer should not be served with ice. Other than that, I was actually very content up to this point, despite my earlier complaints. Then came the food. We got an order of fried chicken for the table to share, because I had heard rave reviews. As someone who frequents Revival on a bi-weekly basis and had been told that this was comparable, I had very high hopes for the fried chicken. My friends had not heard this, and simply had expectations for the chicken to be better than KFC. Astonishingly, *everyone* was disappointed. The breading was far too salty (a theme that will reappear later), the drumstick was overcooked, and I think that nobody ever flattened out the thigh. It appeared to be just an orb of meat, which is not very natural, and upon further investigation, certain parts were still pink and bloody. After several experiences at other unrelated establishments, wherein I was accosted for having the wherewithal to question the kitchens ability to achieve a pervasive 165 degrees, I decided to just ignore that and not eat the pink parts. We were also in a hurry. As for the entrees: Two of us got Neapolitan pizzas; me the lamb sausage, and my friend the Margherita. The lamb sausage was shriveled and dry, with exorbitant salt quantities, a quality shared with the undercooked, yet somehow ashy, crust. The mint felt out of place. Both pizzas shared a horrid lack of sauce or cheese. The end result was a dry, salty, flavorless flatbread. My other friend got a burger (it was hard to tell, buried beneath the mountain of pickles), which was wholly underwhelming. Additionally, we were told that the burgers were $10 during happy hour (normally 12/14 for double), and my friend ended up getting two patties and paying $14. It would have been nice to know that there would be no discount at all. His fries were coated in an oceans worth of sea salt, and even after removing the individual specks of sea salt, they remained unbearably saline. Finally, I paid $10 for a Caesar salad. No meat, no anchovies or anything. There was no "side" option, but that ended up not being an issue, because what I received ended up being about enough to sate a guinea pig for a few hours. 10 dollars for a side Caesar, which, by the way, was both too salty and contained too much lemon juice. The last problem is that everything took a long time. This is partially on us, as we did not inform anyone that we were in a hurry, but even paying the bill was a 15-minute ordeal that involved little to no communication and lots of "maybe if we do this, hell notice were ready to pay," to no avail. I felt a little bad giving such a bad review, because normally that involves some level of malice towards the server (who is the establishments representative, per se) when we really had no significant issues with him. He took a while, but mostly because he seemed swamped. I kept 1 star for the decent service. Conclusion: no bueno.

Although I thought the food was pretty good, I am only giving it 3 stars because of the weird unposted hours. I looked online and it said they open for dinner at 4 so I drove around for 30 minutes wasting time before I could go eat. When I got there there were people inside eating and they told me that they open earlier but just with a limited menu. I said thats fine because I wanted the dinner menu anyways. So I sat down looked at the menu and decided what entree I would like, and then the server proceeded to tell me that I in fact could not order any entrees until 5 p.m. I could only order appetizers, pizzas or sandwiches. So, they are posted is opening at 4 for dinner. But, you cannot order dinner until 5. They also open earlier than 4 for burgers. But you would have no idea because it doesnt say that anywhere. My companion and I got three of the available options to share: the quinoa and crab gumbo salad, the wild mushroom pizza, and the fried oyster tacos. I thought the tacos were too fishy for my taste so I couldnt eat them. But Im pretty sensitive to that so my judgment isnt that great in that area. My companion, who loves oysters, thought they were delicious. I absolutely loved the quinoa and crab gumbo salad. It was a cold salad that was very creamy and delicious. The fried okra gave it just the right amount of crunch and texture. Well that pizza was ok, I would order one of the more exciting ones next time. My companion was a little intimidated by some of the topping combinations that I thought sounded amazing. The wild mushroom was just a little bit plane for me. However the crust was really chewy and good. It could have been cooked a little more, however. I would love to give the entrees a try, but I dont know if I will go back because I am still a little bit peeved by my first experience. I was not in the mood for appetizers and sandwiches, I wanted to know which is why I went during the posted dinner hours. They do have sunday happy hour which is also a plus. You can get drinks, the burger, pizza, or a sandwich on special. Takes a few bucks off your bill if you are looking for those types of items.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. Theres not a lot of options in that neighborhood and I was rooting for their success. However, I left knowing I wouldnt be back. We went this past Friday night around 6:00 p.m. and no surprise for that time slot, the place was busy. Still, we were able to be seated right away. The decor is pretty cool, but our table was small and we felt squished in the middle aisle. If you need a little wiggle-room while you dine, this center row of seating is not for you. Also, the noise level is way too much due to the acoustics. I had to strain to hear conversation. Although I love the ambiance of dim lighting, I couldnt read the menu it was so dark. No worries, I thought! I knew I was going to get a burger (hoping for a good "upscale" burger - the kind I wouldnt conceive of in my head at home). Sadly, I would have been better off making my own burger at home. On the positive, it was seasoned nicely and juicy. Aside from that...boring. Maybe offering a choice of cheese instead of what looked like, and tasted like, the peel-the-plastic-off-the-American-cheese cheese. While our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the specials, she was not attentive. I assume, maybe unfairly, that we werent worth her extra effort because we werent racking up our bill with alcoholic beverages. Lets just say it was a good thing we didnt need anything during our meal. Its possible the other menu items may be worth a try(?). But, if youre wanting a staple bar/restaurant burger, take a pass. Theres a McDonalds down the street and it wont cost $13.00 (insert disappointed emoticon).
