I visited the Grill & Chill location in Hugo, MN (2110 Northern Lights Blvd), on the evening of Sunday, February 19 for my birthday. Having recently become a fan of DQs Smoothies (Tripleberry with bananas, in particular), I was disappointed to be told this location was no longer stocked with bananas, and that Id have to choose a different flavor. A plain strawberry smoothie was suggested, to which I agreed. Arriving at the pickup window I was handed the smoothie with the rest of my order; unfortunately, one taste of the $5 smoothie was enough for me to know the flavor wasnt good at all, and I politely requested to change flavors to my original Tripleberry. I was told "no"--I would instead have to pay for an entirely new large smoothie if I wanted a different flavor. This was despite the fact that I had given back the unwanted one, because my fiancé and I werent going to be drinking it. Rather than extend some sort of courtesy, I was treated to a rather lengthy, rude speech from Kelly, the General Manager, who wanted to explain to me, repeatedly, how I was wrong, though I was only asking that she extend me the courtesy of swapping out the unwanted smoothie for a different flavor. Only after asking in disbelief if I was to have to go on my way without a smoothie did Kelly begrudgingly agree to make a replacement-- "only this one time." I said thank you and, when I received the smoothie, assured her this would not happen again. I received in response from Kelly a rather snarky, "Hope you dont come back." I have to say that I dont think Ive ever experienced anything like this anywhere Ive been. And all of this from a General Manager no less. I understand that it is not required that one make me another smoothie for free if I dont like it. I just felt I would at least ask, and then all of this happened. The last thing I want to be doing is writing to complain about a horrible experience I had at Dairy Queen, but I come here so often that I had to.

Almost everytime I come to this location I regret it. Its like its ran by a bunch of children, especially later in the evening. The most recent visit I had asked for my malt in a paper cup instead of the new plastic cups theyre using, mainly because it sweats more and turns milk almost immediately. At first over the intercom it was no big deal but then after the half hour wait in line to get to the window, go figure, they forgot. I asked the person at the window if they could change it for me like i asked over the intercom and she began to question why i wanted the paper cup anyways? As if your job is that hard where you couldnt do it right the first time but then question me as to why I like things the way I do?? BECAUSE I ASKED FOR IT THAT WAY! I was very nice through this ordeal as well. So she takes my plastic cup and drops it from 2 feet in the air in a bigger paper cup and looks and says, "this is fine, right?" Sure ill take the 2 cups instead to get the hell out of here... WOW Dairy Queen, get your act together. I would travel to Forest Lake any day of the week to avoid this place. Hands down the worst service youll ever receive at a Dairy Queen. I live right next to it in Hugo also... Disappointing

I whent to this DQ to meet with a family member and give them sum cash to help out with Christmas. I was runing behind and they whent through and got sum food. When i pulled up and gave them the cash. talked for a min and started to walk in to the store and the manager came out shouting that what ever we were there to do go to a differentdifferent parking lot. When i whent in side she was playing on her phone. I asked her what was the problem. She said that what we were doing looked suspect and that she wood call the police. I told her i was there to give my family money and get ice-cream. She wood not stop playing on her phone or talk to me after that. So i got my ice-cream and told every one happy holidays and tryed to say sorry for the miss understanding. She didnt even look up from her phone. I wated in the parking lot for a min or two then left. I wood of liked to talk to the women but she didntwant too. I wish i could act like that at my job with out puting my phone down.

Brutal. I live only a few blocks from here and dread going to this place every single time knowing its going to be a hassle. The high schoolers that work here need a supervisor to direct them when it comes to efficiency and BASIC customer service skills. I always order an XL Arctic Rush slushie. I dont think they comprehend that an XL probably requires more squirts of flavor than you would put in the small size right? Nope. Every time I basically receive an XL cup full of lightly flavored shaved ice. I have gotten to the point where I request extra flavoring and it still comes out looking and tasting the same. I now only go inside and order so I can receive my order, take the lid off and directly tell them to go back and put some more flavor in. I didnt come for a watery non flavored cup of shaved ice. Oh and every time the price is different, either $1 or so more or less than the time i paid before. I dont even bother bringing this issue up.

I would hope that whoever owns this DQ would read these reviews. You are losing business and lots of money due to the lack of supervision of the workers. Yesterday I went here and it was busy, there was plenty of staff to handle the work load. At least 2 of the workers constantly stopped and talked, not caring one bit that a huge line was building both in and outside. I ended up leaving without getting my blizzard and went to the grocery store to get ice cream sandwiches. At the same time I saw another person at the grocery store who said DQ was too busy had to get theirs here too. If there was a lead who gave direction to the workers, they would have been able to serve MUCH faster. A complete lack of caring by the workers, which is expected a little with teenagers especially if there is NO ONE telling them to pick it up and focus on work. I live close, I dont plan on returning until this is taken care of.

Worst service from a dairy queen restaurant we have ever received! This is the closest restaurant to us so we continue to go to it hoping that service will get better but each time is worst than the last. This place is full of high school employees that have zero customer service skills. We went there on Sunday May 3rd, 2015 and got there at 8:40pm they close at 9pm. So we were prepared to hurry, as we pulled up to the drive though the line was long but we were fine with waiting. We watched the employees close and lock the doors at 8:43pm and they do not close till 9pm. We then watched 6 different customers pull up and try to go each one of them checking the time they close as they try to open the locked door then get frustrated when it said they were open till 9pm and it was not even 9pm yet. Rediculous! Stay open till the time you state you are open till!
