I love Penn Station, but will never eat at this restaurant as long as the night manager Brian is employed there. I received a mailer the other day from Penn Station with coupons, so having patronized the sub shop before it gave me the perfect excuse for me to go there for dinner this past Sunday night however the experience was everything but. My husband and I enter the restaurant to a completely wet and extremely slippery floor that was currently being mopped by who we later find out to be the manager, Brian. There were no signs on the floor to state that the floor was water either. The floor was so slippery my husband had to grip firmly on the railing to remain up right. Having been to this location before the employees are always eager to mop the floor at the earliest moment possible, but they normally leave the line areas dry, however this time is was not the case. Walking into the store to be welcomed by a completely wet floor youd imagine we were walking in seconds before closing, yet we walked in at 8:15 pm, almost a full 45 minutes before closing, so not nearly enough to be mopping the entire floor. There were two employees working, one cooking on the grill and helping the customer before and the manager mopping the floor. The cook did inform us that we would be helped shortly. Yet the manager dont stop mopping to help out, but continues finishing mopping the floor to completion. When the floor was finished the manager walked up to the register without washing his hands that he just used to ring out the mop with walked up to the register to take orders. Before taking any orders he informs everyone that all orders at this time will be carry-out, the time was now 8:24 pm. Throughout the ordering process the manager was very pushy and rude. It was like he had somewhere else to be. After taking our order and the three others in the restaurant he informed the cook to take not more order even though it was only 8:28 pm-ish. He went from register to register to serving food and drinks without ever washing his hands or using glove, one of the other patrons later stated that she saw him cross contaminated raw and cooked food. After everyone had paid we all sit and waited. 10 minutes into the wait, the manager informed the other three there was no turkey and they could get a refund or change their meat. Though I could see three whole turkeys in the fridge. When the customers asked why they were not informed earlier and why he was rushing everyone, instead of apologizing he just blaming the customers for coming in and they were closing in 30 minutes. He even insulted the customers and acted very arrogantly and unapologetically about being rude, pushy and unprofessional. He even turned away two customers that come in 20 minutes before closing. He repeatedly justified his rude behavior due to the fact that we all come in 30 minutes before closed, basically stating that good service should not be expected. We all ended up canceling our order, which more than like total around $100 due to the fact that there was the lack of ingredients, his rudeness and most importantly lack of proper food safety practices. Though the cook was clean and much more professional and polite than the manager and I had no problem with the food his handled, the manager served and touched our fries with the same unwashed hands. So my only thoughts were if he was this unsanitary in plain sight, how much worst is it when no one is looking? He also would not give back the buy one, get one coupon we had, even though we cancelled our order. He also would not give out a district manager name. Im really disappointed because I was really excited when this location opened up so close to my house because I love Penn Station. However, due to the blatant disregard for customer service that this manager presents and the lack of cleanliness and food safety he practices Im afraid to eat at this restaurant while he was employed there.

I came in tonight and the manager is walking around touching everything and her hair and starts to make my sandwich with her bare hands. I asked her why she never wears gloves like the other team members and she says because she washed her hands. I told her she didnt move from that spot. She says you want me to remake it? I said the guy not her. Then she proceeds to put on gloves that she said wasnt mandatory. She starts to talk about it with other customers and tell the staff they dont need to wear their gloves. My Order# was 123 @8:37pm. I came in once before and the same night manager was sweeping and then turned to make my sandwich. Tried to lie and said she washed Her hands again as I watched her the entire time in hopes that she didnt touch my order. If gloves arent mandatory hand washing before touching customers food should be. I wont be coming back. I work at GM across the street and will be spreading the word about the poor service recovery effort made by this manager. Feel free to reach out to me if you like!

Highly disappointed with this location. My first experience eating at Penn Station was at the location on 16 Mile near Mound Road. I was so impressed with the chicken salad sub at that location that I couldnt wait to take me husband in to the store on 12 Mile and Van Dyke. How disappointed I was that they only had two types of chips; Doritos and Baked Lays and my chicken salad sub was nothing like the one I had on 16 Mile Road, there was hardly any chicken salad on it, it was all lettuce and tomatoes and sub role. Even though the 12 Mile and Van Dyke location is within a quick bike ride, I think next time well travel a little further and go the one on 16 Mile, the subs were stacked with filling not just vegetables.

Very good customer service. Greeted as we came in, loud and friendly lol (young black guy with glasses). The menu was explained to us, including that the fries are cooked in peanut oil. I told the guy I have a peanut allergy. The woman helping on the line (possibly manager?) overheard and made sure the young lady (who may have been new) wiped down the prep board and didnt get any fries near my food. She consistently checked that she followed those instructions, explaining that a peanut allergy is serious. I was very impressed that she took such precaution for me. Everyone checked on all of the patrons throughout us dining. The food was pretty good, by the way lol.

This place is the worst setup for ordering sandwiches ever. Order your sandwich up front and then pay they have no idea what theyre doing. They are trying to copy Subway. I went to the one in Warren and 12 Mile. Ordered my sub went to pay and had to wait because theres 3 people making one sub didnt make any sense. When someone came to check me out I was using a card and they rang me up as cash. The person checking me out didnt know how to change it and it took three people to check me out. Very overpriced for a 6 inch sub fries and a drink. Will never go there again poor customer service
