Ive eaten at this place a million times but I promised myself I would only write a review if I remembered to do so on the same day that I ordered there. We just ordered carry-out from here for dinner tonight and ... just wow! Their gyros are the best Ive ever had. I know that sounds extreme but whatever mix theyve stumbled upon there, it is far superior to any of the other Greek spots in metro Detroit (both Coney and upscale). Their pita is insanely yummy (no way it can be good for you though) and I had to fight my brother for the last bit of the lentil soup. The lemon rice soup, one of my favorites, was great as well. I cant comment on the grape leaves as my relatives beat me to them and left me none. :( The braised lamb shank was so tender and so perfect. I could just go on raving about every item on the menu (we ordered quite a spread) so Ill stop! But besides amazingly fresh, flavorful, and authentic Greek food, the place is small, intimate, family owned and has been in the same location since I was a kid. Im happy to support a well-run and worthy restaurant that is owned by a local family.

The unique, homemade pita bread forms the basis of what are, hands down, the best gyros in Metro Detroit. They take their homemade dough, fry it on the griddle with oil/butter until its flatbread heaven - gently crispy outside, fluffy inside, but still foldable; literally, crack in carbohydrate form. Then, they fill it with sliced gyro meat (spiced beef/lamb mix, cooked in a rotisserie), tomato, red onion, and yogurt sauce. A combo with a small Greek salad will run you about eight bucks plus tip, and you will leave quite full. The service is always quick and friendly - even when its busy, Im in and out in 25-30 minutes. Cozy, Greek-themed diner feel; the rest of the menu is other Greek stuff like lemon-rice soup (pretty good), rice pudding (very good), and lamp chops (have not tried), along with your typical Detroit coney island food - coneys, burgers, fries, etc. for the meat and potatoes crowd.

An absolute hidden gem. If you didnt know about it, it would be easy to miss hidden in a shopping center, but once you visit for the first time, Ill bet youll be back. The staff is friendly and if you start showing up regularly they tend to remember you. Service is fast, making it an ideal lunch spot. Prices are on point. However, the best part is the food. The pita that the gyro comes on is simply the best Ive ever had. I dont know how they make them so perfect, but its just the ultimate consistency, texture, flavor, everything. Its almost impossible to go anywhere else for a gyro now because I just find myself dreaming about Athens. Ive taken a bunch of co-workers here and they all agree as well. I make it a habit to stop by at least a couple of times for lunch every month.

Love this place. Been going for 40 years. If Im in the area and I have the time and the stars align, I go. I order food and when the flat-grilled, hand-made pita comes, I eat only that. Then I order an extra pita and eat that. Then Im full and have to take my dinner home. No matter, because the leftovers are fabulous. And I generally dont like leftovers.

Ive been here 3 times, my two favorite dishes are the half chicken cooked in olive oil, oregano and lemon delicious comes with peas. The other dish I like is the lamb shank very tasty, meat comes with peas and green beans didnt like the green beans but the peas are good. For the price two nice meals you get a lot of food.

Believe it or not, I go there for the Burgers & Fries! Awesome old school Charbroil flavor. Also, the Chicken Pasta Salad with their homemade Greek Dressing is fabulous! The best part of all are their prices & friendly service. The place is run by two brothers, Eaven & George who always greet you with a smile:)

The bread is homemade, the food is authentic and made with love, and if you come on the right day at the right time an older gentleman will share his top shelf olive oil with you. Everyone who works here treats you like family and they seem to never forget a face. Best gyro and lemon rice soup ever. Period.

The grilled chicken is charred perfectly, and has a fantastic taste. Ive tried to duplicate it at home and cant. The staff is very friendly as well. I have been traveling to Southfield for work from Florida frequently and when im here I eat lunch at Athens Souvlaki 4-5 times during the week.

I worked at this place many years ago. The food is really wonderful. You can order your pita “Dry" & it is just perfect. True about Greek Salads & amount of gyro meat- portions are huge. The owners are extremely nice & honest people. I am very glad they are still in business. :)

This great little diner is tucked inside a tiny mall on 11 & Lasher. They have a wider assortment of dishes, but I love stopping in for a coney dog and greek salad at lunch. The do a good carry out business as well.

Very very good food. The portions are large, and the food is hearty and delicious. Prices are about a dollar more per entree compared to your typical coney island fare, but well worth every cent.

This restaurant is simply the best! My co-workers and I eat here at least once a week and are always in and out within 45 minuets. The Greek salad and chicken pita supreme are where its at!

Food always solid, they slice the gyro meat to order, chicken is always fresh, great salads and soups. They also actually cook the pita fresh on the flattop its not premade.

This is a hidden gem. We were looking for a Greek restaurant in the area and this came up in a local search. We will be returning often. Great food, friendly service.

One of the few places where you can get REAL gyros, sliced right off the rotisserie. It feels more like an old-school coney island inside, comfy. quick carry outs.

We went during dinner time. The service was slow. Ordered the chicken gyro, the chicken was dry. The rice was ok, not enough sauce. The restaurant is OK.

Best lamb shanks this side of Sparta...you dont need to be one of THE 300 to appreciate it. Far better than Greektown, and the prices are great too.
