Food Awful!!! I love my community. I think Royal Oak is the best town in Michigan, I really do! I love that we are part of this town. I get excited when new businesses open their doors; it’s a true testament of a thriving community. Chris and I believe in supporting our community. For months now we have watched Hamlin Corner go up; this really cool upscale pub with all of the quaintness of some English bar… Tonight we were excited to have a date night in which to patronize this new restaurant/bar… The interior was awesome; to many TV’s but I could live with that. I knew we were off to a bad start when the waitress was way to eager to take our order - anything. We both ordered cocktails, Chris a Malbec and me a martini (big surprise). My Mandarin Cosmopolitan came in the shade of red… not pink my favorite color but red. How many comsos are red? Our waitress shared with me that they use a very concentrated cranberry juice - really; that translates into NO vodka. For our first course Chris ordered a chopped salad, which looked very unimpressive, actually lifeless. OMG and if you can imagine it had cubed cheddar cheese on it...really who does that at an upscale restaurant? I ordered a Yellow beet salad… which was a stunning presentation, but the beets (3) were sliced so thinly that you could barely taste them over the huge feta cheese and tomato slices. As an entrée’ Chris ordered Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was so overcooked he was dipping them in my au’ jus just for same flavor. The waffles were way undercooked… I ordered the Short Rib French Dip and if I didn’t know any better I might think it’s pulled brisket. Needless to say, it was not a great culinary experience; actually it was quite awful! I wrote a note to the chef on my check that he/she needed to get their act together. Chris on the way out asked for the manager’s business card… and it just so happened that the owner was right there. I explained to him that our meal was one of the worst we have had in such a very long time. Instead of being apologetic he was quick to add that someone had just written them up publically for their great food. I wonder if they had advance warning there was a critic in the house… because I am here to tell you that we will never go back. The owner basically dismissed us and walked us out the front door. Yes he offered to pick up our tab but at that point we had already paid for the meal. I told him to fix the problems and that would be payment enough… Now what should have happened is the waitress should have gone to get a manager when we told her at the start that our food was just ok… She actually told us that the the chefs were all overworked and clearly we should appreciate that they are still trying to work out the kinks... OMG!!!! So foodies beware of this horrifying experience of this so called upscale sports bar in Royal Oak… the only thing that makes it upscale is their ridiculous prices… it certainly isn’t the quality of the food.

Stepping foot into Hamlin Corner was by far one of the worst experiences Ive ever had in my life. The service is absolutely horrible and the bouncers are extremely aggressive and violent. My girlfriend had some trouble with her credit card going through the processor so my friend picked up the tab for her. Not a big deal, right? So a few minutes later two huge, scary looking bouncers approach my girlfriend and tell her she needs to leave. She wasnt even given the chance to enjoy the drinks that the friend paid for. Then I ask the bouncers what just happened and they told me she had to leave. I call one of the bouncers a dick for what he did and he told me I had to leave. I said fine. I grabbed my jacket, put my hat on, and proceeded to walk out of the bar. Apparently the bouncer didnt feel like I was leaving fast enough so he put me in a chokehold (cut off my air) and dragged me out. And it wasnt just one bouncer that was involved in this process. It was originally two huge guys and by the time I was at the exit 5 bouncers had surrounded me. It was really a scary and threatening experience. Anyone who doesnt believe me is more than welcome to get in touch with me and speak to my friends who saw everything. Im very upset that we have such a scummy establishment in our community. Hamlin Corner clearly mistreats its patrons and I would NOT recommend anyone go to this place. Btw, I never write Yelp reviews because I just never have enough motivation or time. But this particular experience really rubbed me the wrong way and I want to make sure people in my community dont experience what I experienced there. Just read all the other reviews on here - youll see.

Im literally sitting here at the bar making this review btw. We got waters right away so they get a star for that. Sat for about 20 minutes before the blonde bartender asked if we were eating, the whole time shes giving her attention to some guys at the end of the bar; Im sure she knew them beforehand by the way they conversed. We got our food which was decent, the wings were really good though! Throughout the whole meal never asked if we needed anything and the barback seemed to be catering to us more than the bartender. The best part is after she gave us our bill it took her another 25 minutes to cash us out. Overall pizza was good, wings were great, fish (fish & chips) was doughy, and they have a decent assortment of craft beers. But service was horrible... Beside the barback; he gets 4 stars at least

My friends and I went here for the MSU vs. Oregon game and reserved a table for 15. Allow me to be completely objective: Food was alright. Not really worth the high prices but didnt think anything bad of it, decent appetizers. Atmosphere was great given you were around a bunch of MSU fans. Drinks were great and really were made very well. Service: Awful. Our waitress was SO INCREDIBLY RUDE to us and it seemed like we were inconveniencing her. She got very snippy with some of my friends and by the 3rd quarter cashed us out and was rushing us out the door. Not to mention she kept messing up my one friends bill, I get that people are human but there is no excuse as to why she was so rude to us. It really put a damper on our experience especially after hearing such positive things about this place.

Sitting at the bar now. I am one of 5 total patrons. Had to wait 10 minutes to order after getting my menu because the bartender disappeared. Eventually, the hostess came over to take my order. No one had walked in the door since me. Everyone else has their food, so the kitchen was clearly not busy. Medium burger and chips took about 20 minutes. Here on lunch, dont have all the time in the world, and it has been about 45 minutes from sitting down to getting my food. Bartender has been absent, others had to get the hostess attention to order more and cash out. Again, no one else entered after me, so she was just standing around. Food is normally good, but overpriced.
