terrible... let me start with the beer. it was good but it was pawned off on me as an over seas wonder but was basically an over priced blue moon. then came the "calamari"... wich was obviously frozen. it was like chewing on the tires of my 1990 4 runner, only dipped in a disgusting so called blu cheese sauce, which i ended up discarding after a few attempts. my girlfriend had the potato soup and a chicken caesar salad and apparently, they can do something right. she was mildly happy with her choice. now for the main course... i got the filet mignon on french fries. #1. who serves a steak on top of over cooked yet cold and way too salty fries???? these guys... #2. the filet was very small and had a stringy texture. #3 and the final straw... it was covered in what resembled the gravy from my two dogs can of pedigree wet food i top their bowls off with in the winter. and quite frankly it smelled identical. did i mention, its not the "country stew" variety, but the "with beef" flavor... how fitting, so ok. it was better than a coney island, but i learned a lesson the hard way. i tipped the server because it was not his fault, but the whole meal cost me over 70.00$ and ruined a rare date night. being a business owner in royao oak myself i couldnt imagine wanting my name on that over rated dive bar food. i dont know whats changed, but it used to be 100% better...

An excellent knowledge about different types of brews and what ones compliment a great meal. The decor was that of a classic brewery and our service was polite, prompt, and knowledgeable about the selection of beers and late night Royal Oak. I myself had a grilled ceasar chicken sandwich that placed on a fantastic piece of ciabatta bread that was nice and moist. The grilled chicken was NOT dry, which happans often at restaurants trying to mass produce a grilled chicken sandwich. I had a fruits, nuts, and breads appetizers that would compliment my excellent beer sampler. I was a bit hectic to order the $11 dollar appetizer but was not kicking my self once it came out and I enjoyed the sampler with my beers. Yet overall the prices are reasonable and service is phenomenal. The food is classic brewery food, yet they are one of the few brewerys that know how to compliment their good food with great beer.

To start with a good side, the interior was very climatic and climatic. The staff was nice and atmosphere was classy,but.. We came in around 3:45 (not purposely, just how it came out) and were given lunch menus at the front. We kept waiting for out waitress and by the time she showed up fifteen minutes later we were very hungry and had our entire 3-course meals and drinks planned out, ready to order it all immediately. First of all she informs us that they cannot swap one beer out of the sampler (which I find odd, just pour a double) and its too bad if we dont like IPAs. We decided to order food instead and think of the beer for one more minute, we are told that since its 4:03 we cannot order lunch anymore, even though we were given lunch menus and she was the one who took 15min before taking care of our table (place wasnt busy). We politely thanked for the service and left.

I made a reservation here for our co-ed bachelorette/bachelor party for 15 people. The night of the event we all arrived and were told there was no reservation on file. The hostess didnt write it down apparently. After confirming they lost our reservation they would do NOTHING to accommodate us. The manager said we would probably have to wait 2+ hrs for enough tables to open up. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Luckily my friends were able to get a table at a much better restaurant after the manager here had me in tears. Also the beer here is horrible and they are more interested in hiring tits than brains but what else is new. Will never step foot in this place again. Thanks for TRYING to ruin a great night!

If I could give this brewery less than one star, I totally would. The beer is straight up awful..I was only able to finish one beer in my 8 glass flight. The head brewer should be ashamed of himself for allowing such a sub standard product to not only be produced but allowing it to be sold is downright criminal. He probably couldnt brew a good coke out of a soda fountain machine. And guess what, the beer cheese with the pretzels tasted like the smell that comes out of the sewers in Detroit. If you want a real beer in the Royal Oak area, I would suggest going to the Royal Oak brewery or to River Rouge brewing instead. I would rather drink the swill prisoners make in their toilets over this crap EVER again.

Beers sucked. Tried 4 of em and not happy with any of em. One of them smelled like feet. The service was terrible. No input from the server whatsoever and mostly absent. There were a few comments from him that I wasnt sure if he was just naive about food service or completely rude. Tried remedied the situation with the manager but received a very indifferent response from him. The only redeeming factor was the food I ordered which was the Belgium burger and it was amazing which is why I left two instead of one stars. But great food is everywhere and we wanted an experience, a birthday night out, but we left in such a negative mood we have no reason to ever come back.

Ive never seen such a gross over reaction or mishandling of a situation at a bar in my life. I took my open beer a little too close to the door to look for friends in line and the bouncer grabbed my arm causing my beer to fall. He then bear-hugged me and tackled me onto the sidewalk at 5th and Main, causing lacerations to my forehead, shoulder and hip. The manager Matt Buskard flipped me off and I have the photograph to prove it. Another bouncer taunted me to "touch him" (weird, I know) so that he could resume the beating that his buddy started. Unbelievable, I was there for 25 mins and didnt even finish my first beer. Total A-holes.

Came on Mothers Day, was called the day prior to confirm reservation because they were going to be "booked solid" and wanted to make sure we were going to show up. The restaurant wound up being about half dead during our meal. It took over an hour to get our food which was mainly salads and hamburgers for a small party. The food was delicious, the service was just terrible. When we finally asked about our food, we were told it was ready and would be right out but it wound up being about another 15 minutes before it was actually served to us. Unfortunate because we all enjoyed our meals but we will not be returning.

Was there last night and we are not happy. We are somewhat regulars but not since The first of the year. The menu change, and the change in the food prep may cause us to stop showing up. I loved the way you used to make the pork cheek burgers ! It is not the same at all...but yet the price is. The portabello mushroom sandwich NOT THE SAME as before. Waiter told us that the changes are heading in a Americana style....if I wanted that there are plenty of that style of restaurants. WE ENJOYED THE BELGIAN STYLE !! This is what kept us coming back.
