Wow, really not sure how this place has as high of a rating as it does. The experience started with a half-sized portion of bottom of the bag salad mix and from-the-can miso soup, certainly a sub standard start. Thats ok, they arent the main reason for coming here... hopefully the Hibachi is good. The Chef comes out and does some impressive cutlery tricks for about 45 seconds, then rushes through cooking our meal. He decided to mince up my Salmon (somewhat friendly, but un-focused) and you could tell most of the ingredients were bought from discount vendors. Its significantly below the quality of any other Japanese Steakhouse weve been to. The meal was served with the typical steakhouse sauces, all of which tasted off (expired?) and watered down. My wifes meal came with dessert or plum wine, which the waitstaff tried to ignore after asking several times. Once they finally acknowledged this, the offer was... "Chocolate or Vanilla". I take it your food cost is higher on the plum wine and you dont want us to order that? Overall, this was a discount steakhouse WITHOUT the discount. A few positive things... the restaurant was clean, and we didnt get food poisoning, but certainly not a glowing review. Id recommend looking elsewhere, this restaurant doesnt deserve further business.

We had made a reservation for a group of ten. The day before, we called to let the staff know we actually had thirteen in our group. The manager stated the reservation was made for ten, not thirteen. He made it clear that he was not willing to accommodate three more people to our group and hung up. We called back and he was very rude, yelling and told us not to bother coming!! We called Olive Garden and they had no problem accommodating our entire group of thirteen. Ukai has permanently lost thirteen customers plus who ever decides to listen. The unprofessional behavior is incredible! What kind business does Not want customers?!

This was my first time at a Japanese steakhouse and hibachi restaurant. Ive heard a lot of things and Im glad to say that all my expectations were met. The chef had entertaining showmanship, the food was very good quality, especially for its fair price, there was no wait to be seated and our orders were taken near instantly. Drinks brought out mere minutes after. All in all one of my favorite restaurants to date.

I am frustrated! If I could give them less I would! I had a party of 9 for 7pm tonight! I preplanned this for says! I asked 3 hours before and they said it was fine! I walked in to the location I had called and they said they didnt have my reservation! Are you kidding me! They refused to serve us and oops gave away my reservation. I will NEVER give them service EVER. Will be telling everyone I know to tell them!

Very disappointed. They didnt have yum-yum sauce and didnt even know what it was (!), the roof was leaking, the food had minimal flavor, the sauces were watered down, and they charged a dollar just to put some teriyaki sauce on the meat, in addition to the 2 dollars to upgrade to fried rice! The bill ends up being higher than it first seems! Not worth it. Definitely would not come back.

The 1st thing I noticed was the awful smell, like old food. There was barely any soup and the salad consisted of bagged old lettuce and there was a pool of water at the bottom of the bowl. The food was ok but ive been to other hibachi grills where the cook really interact with the crowd but this was not the case here. Would not recommend it.

Its always too hot inside! The salads are mediocre, the edamame is mediocre, the service is poor. However, the fresh salmon sashimi/nagiri is excellent! The soup is very good, too. In general, the sushi is very good if you stick to the basics and their specialty rolls. Just dont expect good service or a comfortable temperature inside.

Always love the food but was disappointed tonight. I know that two couples twiceca year are nothing to you but we invited a special guest and talked about the hibachi experience it was really a disappointment. No really neat tricks.

Ukai Japanese Steakhouse is a great alternative to your standard dinner night. If you have never been to a hibachi style restaurant before you are in a for a fun evening. Ukai has a good, relaxed, atmosphere and good servers.

Plan on spending around $20.00-$30.00 a plate, but in my opinion, its worth it. You get a neat cutlery show and a delicious meal. For many years, this was my favorite restaurant.

Pretty standard Hibachi fair. Our cook was skilled and made the experience a lot of fun, especially for the kids. The sushi was excellent, I recommend the "eating Nemo" roll.

Food wasnt good! And fried rice doesnt come with habachi dinners or noodles. So i payed extra without notice, and fried rice and noodles didnt taste good!

Ive been to my share of Japanese hibachi restaurants and Ukai is still my favorite. The food is great and not the most expensive hibachi Ive been to.
