Updated review: Made a reservation for the "Pope Room" for my moms birthday. Our experience on this second visit was much, much better. We were seated immediately upon our arrival at the time of our reservation. Even those who came a little late were guided to our table very quickly (going through the kitchen, of course). The service was excellent. Even though we had only 1 server assigned to us, everything we needed was provided quickly and efficiently. Even special requests and coupons were handled quite well. Im glad I gave this Buca a second chance. It was well worth it. ================================================ Ive been to several Bucas, but this one was a bit disappointing. I made a reservation for a party of 8. When I arrived, I found wed been put in a 4-person booth with a table and two chairs. Thankfully, one of our group couldnt make it or there would be no way wed have all fit into that small space. It was quite cramped. The service also left a lot to be desired. Granted, it was quite busy, but it seemed that we were forgotten about quite often. The young lady, who I guess was assigned to our table, hardly ever came around. There was a young man who seemed eager to help, and he tended to us most of the time. That saved the evening. My recommendation: dont be afraid to turn down a reservation if you dont have the capacity to handle it properly. The 20-person birthday dinner, understandably, took up a lot of space. I would have been more inclined to visit again based on a "sorry were full at that time" rather than being shoved into a small corner. The food was excellent, much as Id expect from Buca. A plus on an otherwise less-than-optimal experience.

First the atmosphere is cheesy. The ceilings are low, theres "flare" everywhere, they just way overdo it to make you feel like youre part of a mob family at a wedding or something. I think only Americans picture Italy that way. But I can live with that. The food is actually really good, though nothing unique, just really good homestyle stuff. I was with a big group so I got to try the eggplant parm, chicken parm, manacotti and canelloni. All good, better than Olive Garden but not as good as Carrabas or Antonios in Novi. The canelloni stood out though, excellent. However the bread is very plain and not hot, the caesar salad and mixed green salad taste bland. Overall if you could get a plate of canelloni and salad for around $10 Id be satisfied and probably give 4 stars, but they ultimately fall way short on price. The large portions are advertised as for 4 people but two really hungry people could easily finish one, three people at most. The large chicken parm was I think 4-5 pieces, the mancottio and canelloni 7-8. So really if I were going there as a couple, by the time you order a salad, an entree and a side pasta its $25 a person and I can get way better food for that price.

This place was a joke. Went there for a birthday party late May, 2015, ordered Veil for my girlfriend and I which came to $28 (no sides, water for both of us.) before tip. What we received were three pieces of Veil that looked more like dog food and tasted a slight step above their appearance. Tasted their pepperoni pizza and chicken Alfredo; not impressed in the least considering the outrageous price. And the atmosphere? A dump, to be kind. A very run-down look and feel along with images of iconic historic Italian art and creativity desecrated with crude images and dialogue lacking any form of wit that would appeal to anyone above the age of six. Come to think of it, the pictures were a foreshadow of the upcoming experience and how serious this "Italian" restaurant is concerning the food it "specializes" in. It does earn the one star for good service, and thats about it. With all variables considered (price, atmosphere, food, service, etc.), Buca di Beppo currently holds the title for worst dining experience my girlfriend and I ever had thus far.

Overall, it was a very much hyped-up atmosphere. They let you know theyre Italian, which I guess is their selling point, focused very much on Italian film and music decor. However, for as much as they appear to have real home cooked, heart-warming Italian food, it was a waste of time and money. I split a small antipasta and the chicken samtimbocca, and I was impressed by neither of them. The salads dressing, which is usually how I can tell their dedication to good food, wasnt good. The chicken was dry, and frankly a bit skimpy, considering how much they push that the meals are meant to be shared. I would compare it to Olive Garden, but their meals are much more reasonably priced. That being said, I could have made better tasting Italian food, and Ive not an ounce of Italian in me. It seems that they focus more on the visual aspect, letting you know how Italian they are, but dont have that same dedication when preparing the food. Overall, 2/5, would not go to again. I would recommend Ikea about 6 minutes down the street. Cheaper and quicker.

HARD TO FIND The sign is tiny, and low to the ground. Unfortunately, its also brick red on a background of red bricks, making the sign almost invisible. I missed the entrance headed west, and tried turning in the drive right after the sign, but that didnt take me anywhere good. I ended up having to drive several miles to get back to the entrance. They should change the color of the sign or background, and add an entrance from the drive to the west. That would help customers out a lot. I had baked ziti as take-out, and they had it ready and there was no line. It tasted good, but was of course quite unhealthy. It came with bread and a separate sauce, although Im not sure if the sauce was meant for the bread, ziti, or both. The baked ziti had some white balls of cheese on top, I think it was ricotta. Many of the food items seem to be sold exclusively in family/catering sizes. For example, the "small" baked ziti I bought was priced and sized to feed 2-3 people.
