We decided to go here for a group lunch, and we shared four dishes. The food was tasty - I love spicy food and I eat spiced food all the time so I tolerate it very well -, however, after lunch I felt a terrible dryness down my throat and acidity. The so well known side effect of too much MSG. I had a really hard time for a couple of hours trying to overcome the effects of the MSG. I have felt this before, but this time it feels like I ingested way too much of it even though I didnt eat much food. Too bad for a restaurant if they are using too much MSG, and this I dont understand because the food was well prepared, so they dont seem to need the MSG. Hong Kong Restaurant people, I hope you are reading this and will take some actions because it doesnt seem that you need to use MSG in your food - alas! it seems that you are using a LOT of it.

Several factors here. The decor is nothing special, but it shouldnt be. In Chinese culture, money spent on decor isnt spent on ingredients. The service was friendly and they kept refilling my pot of Jasmine tea, which is great. The food: they have a buffet option; ignore that. Its for silly Americans who want to scarf down lomein. Order from the menu. Their dumpling sauce is the best Ive ever had by such a long shot. It blew our minds. Their kung pao (called gong bao on their menu) was nothing short of wonderful. Its 5 steps above any other. They also offer an abundance of real chinese dishes not found on American menus. We had a salt and pepper shrimp dish that was delicious. This place is a great find and its priced very competitively for such good food.

The old Sichuan Restaurant has gone! I had good food in this restaurant several times before I moved to another place in 2010. Yesterday, I happened to stop by East Lansing and decided to have dinner there. You never know how disappointed I was. I ordered two dishes, neither of them tasted OK, the rice was even worse, dont know why there were still many people when I visited there. BTW, if you want really good and real Chinese food, go to Ann Arbor, you will have several good place to go, like the Middle Kingdom, Evergreen, etc. For me, Lansings old Sichuan Restaurant has gone!

It was pretty good, definitely not the worst Asian Ive ever had. The Asian Buffet in the Target complex in Okemos is probably better, but if youre near Frandor, this place is certainly a good option. Only complaints were that the white rice was a bit undercooked (got a few hard bits), and the pop comes in cans so no free refills. Four out of five stars is probably about right.

I had not been to the restaurant in about 8 years and it was great then and it was great again this evening. I was a little nervous about going back after reading a couple of the reviews. All i can say is that either they made some changes after a couple of bad review or they were having an off day. The food was as good as i remembered it being.

Hong Kong is amazing! Ive been there several times to eat and for pick up. Ive always gotten shrimp Lo Main but my family usually shares. So I eat all different kinds of chicken. Chicken is what mainly my family gets. Its an outstanding place. If you havent gone there you should really try it sometime.

Ive been told this is the place to go for the most authentic Chinese food in East Lansing. The service was very fast even though the place was pretty busy. The authentic food was tasty too, but I guess its pretty much always spicey unless you order the "American" food, I didnt mind that though.

My husband & I love this place. Dont be fooled by the lack of decor. This is authentic food. I have learned to go off what other Asian customers order (by looking at their table) & have never been disappointed. They offer the usual classics but I never get it. Im all about trying new things.

One of my favorite places to go for awesome Chinese food. Try the crispy spicy chicken or the pork belly. It is a bit on the oily side but every dish has its on distinct flavor, unlike most places where everything taste the same with different meat/veggies.

So far the best Chinese take out... The veggie egg roll is crispy and delicious. Ordered the general chicken and orange chicken.. they were both very similar except one more spicy. Not much orange taste in Orange chicken, but overall liked everything :)

Love love love this place! It is so veg friendly with their menu of amazing veggie options. They are also really good about letting you make substitutions if you want to throw seitan into another dish. The food is always super fresh and delicious.

No buffet on Sunday my first dissatisfaction, then waitress recommended beef and noodle soup- horrible the beef is mostly fat and even talked to them- was told too bad, they use that kind of beef..

The vegetarian sesame chicken is the BEST Ive ever had and Ive probably been to over 100 Chinese food restaurants. Love that I can still eat one of my favorite foods without the meat. Thanks!

Very authentic, fresh Chinese food. Much better than the more Americanized versions of traditional dishes. If you like your Chinese food deep fried with loads of MSG, dont come here.

Real Chinese. Dont get the buffet unless you want Americanized fried. Look at the second page of the menu for the fly head, tripe, beef tendon, etc.

Very limited selection, many dishes tasted like soap, others had no flavor. The gerenal tso was the only dish I would recommend.
